Inspired by the Love of Jesus Christ
Verse of the Day (as related to the topic of this video):
"Do not judge and criticize and condemn [others unfairly with an attitude of self-righteous superiority as though assuming the office of a judge], so that you will not be judged [unfairly]. For just as you [hypocritically] judge others [when you are sinful and unrepentant], so will you be judged; and in accordance with your standard of measure [used to pass out judgment], judgment will be measured to you. Why do you look at the [insignificant] speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice and acknowledge the [egregious] log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me get the speck out of your eye,’ when there is a log in your own eye? You hypocrite (play-actor, pretender), first get the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye." - Matthew 7:1-5 (AMP)
A movie I highly recommend: The Gospel According to Matthew (starring a very animated and engaging acting performance by Bruce Marchiano, who plays Jesus). This is a word-for-word adaptation that has a unique take on the body language and charisma of Jesus, and also makes it easier to understand and quicker to read the story. I am hopeful that this movie gives you peace, love, hope, security, comfort, and answers, as it did me, and continues to do to this day. God bless you.

There’s always been a difference between criticism and hate, and there’s a difference between biased and thoughtful criticism and I think we have to start using more thoughtful criticism to make the content better than hate to bring it down
Criticism - _to point out a flaw or fault and give some advice in order to improve_
Hate - _to not like something in terms of negative_
Haters and trolls always make fun of other people for nothing. They always belittling us to the point where we forced to give up what we love and that makes us weaker and hopeless. That's not how criticism actually works. Sure, bad stuff can be criticized and hated at the same time IF it was justified (e.g. The Emoji Movie or any crap tons of bad flicks) but there are times that when the power of hate is way off the charts. For example, using your opinion as a "sword" to insult someone who likes something you don't like.
I believe we all need some sort of critical criticism so we don't just fly off the handle about what we say/make or just to better ourselves overall. A world without being criticized to me that's sounds pretty bad because I'm thinking of all the bad, degenerate and nasty stuff you'll be able to see so casually and people won't be able to give it some sort of criticism at all when it comes to anything. I would not enjoy being in that type of world tbh also we won't be able to stop certain things that everyone would deem bad from growing.
Ryan Lim Pangilinan yeah but you can't bully or force the artist to follow that, only suggest them if they don't do what you told them just move on
It is sad that some would not see the difference.
Haters: Criticises artists, content creators etc
Artists: ignores the hater
Haters: report the pages
Artist: we lost
let's face it, this happens a lot nowadays, especially on twitter, it's not about ignoring anymore, after all the trolls became harassers and with mass report they can affect you and your work
Ignoring is easy for some but at the same time all actions have consequences
The one ignoring may get further harassed just because of the other party's sadistic nature while the other party may not suffer from any repercussions unless a bigger fish comes in...

This is the reality rn. You can get death threats and doxxfests if they don't like you. Ignoring them won't work anymore, considering that narcs nowadays already figured out how to counter the "gray rock" card
I feel like it's gotten especially bad since the pandemic started. Kids/teens aren't learning how to socialize, they only know how to interact with a screen because that's all we have access to, so they can't understand the impact of their words on others. It's really sad.
Right
Yeah I agree with that.
@Michael Yarema I'm not saying they're justified if they're just being assholes, but there's definitely a huge disconnect between in-person interactions and online ones. Social media just doesn't foster/encourage empathy like real-world conversations do, and if you're a kid JUST learning how to socialize, you probably can't comprehend how much words on a screen can hurt people
Meh it was just as bad as before. No one really knows how to discipline their children. They either have to scare the absolute shit out of them or manipulate them. Either way can be considered immoral. In the end we are all fucked.
@@pquill3952 Finding common sense/ decency in the internet nowadays is so hard that it isnt even "common" anymore.
1:02 Twitter cancelling in a nutshell
This channel is so unique and creative. Its awesome how your literally using our childhood's to tell us how to be a good person.
I feel so bad for the people who are stuck in a hating cycle, the person who is hating probably has a personal problem and refuse to get help in so they can feel better, and the person being hated cannot please the hater, and it can get to their head to the point where they give up or get so saddened by what people say that they do what they do and hate back or on someone who doesn't deserve it, I hope we can all help each other become better people, so then we can all be happier.
Problem is when it gets spammed or praised to death to the point its shoved on your face.
You like Justin bieber? Sure as hell you don't. And I sure as hell I don't nor I like kpop or vtubers/hololive.
They get hated for spamming their shit everywhere like it's the greatest thing ever.
They're not, they're fads and rabid fans need to tone it down lest they start a hate war.
Oh wait.
I agree. And I can appreciate Express’ confidence about himself, and the way he writes these videos (which are pretty great), but I don’t think just “laughing at” these people is the best way to go about it. ‘Cause then they’re not really getting helped, y’know?
Bro, please shut the fuck up. Most, if not all people you've met who like to hate on things or people are doing it because they're either bored or have an actual reason to. Pre-conceived notions, intolerance to a pattern of speech or action, or just a general dislike for a certain type of person/series, you name it. There are plenty of reasons for people to dislike other people or things, and it doesn't boil down to "oh man he must've been bullied at school and taking his frustrations out on random internet people! Poor dude!"
If you've met someone that does have problems and copes with it by throwing shit at others, then I suppose your statement makes more sense and more power to you. But please realize that most people aren't like that. I hate know-it-all shitheads that think they have the map to the human psyche and that they can read it like a children's book.
@@lcartnine8268 Facts!
@@lcartnine8268 I disagree, how does telling some random person online to "kill themselves" not have to do with their mental state? I guess I am normal because I have never went to someones comment section and told them to kill themselves 🤷♂️ I guess remaining anonymous turns most people into a shitty person
Personally I believe criticism is a good thing as long as it is constructive. Completely ignoring criticism whether it’s constructive or not is unhealthy. Constructive criticism helps people improve. Assuming that any form of criticism is an attack against you is childish and only ruins your chances of self improvement. Being able to acknowledge your own flaws and accept criticism are two extremely important skills that everyone should learn.
In general, I agree with you. The problem is that, sometimes, "constructive criticism" can be entirely subjective as well. Constructive towards what? Someone else's version of what is "good" or "better"? I think this is the sort of thing that should be evaluated on a case by case basis.
@@007MrYang better as in better. If you we're trying to draw a dog and it came out looking like a rectangle with two poorly draw triangle ears then it isn't subjective unlike most constructive criticism. It is needed because you drew it wrong.
@@007MrYang Well it depends on what you vision is. If the critic gets a different vision and tells you to improve on a certain thing in which you wanted to be that way, then that means you need to try harder at presenting your vision to the audience in order to get them on the same page as you (if this makes any sense).
Zoggy Bread 24 yes but if you wanted to draw something you liked instead of something else, then you draw what you want and people technically can't say anything because it's simply what you like
There's both objective and subjective, just cause there's also objective criticism doesn't mean there isn't subjective one, (not to be rude but telling someone an example off something they ain't talking about isn't an argument)
@@marmolejomartinezjoseemili9043 if you are trying to draw something you like, that is fine but it isn't above criticism. It's like if I made a stop motion film but most of the photos were blurry. Sure, it's something I liked to make but it isn't good and needs to be criticized so it can get better. I don't see how that would be subjective if objectively the film looked terrible. It was suppose to be shot a way in which people could make out what was going on but they couldn't. That is objective criticism. Subjective criticism would be saying that it should have been filmed in different camera angles or it should have more effects or different effects or it should be in a different color. I never denied subjective criticism exists. But that doesn't excuse films, drawings, games, etc from objective criticism.
I used an example in my first comment. And yes it did, the dog looked more like a compilation of shapes than a real animal or an animal in a certain type of art style. The animal was drew wrong. If you draw a dog who in real life's ears aren't as big as it is in your drawings but the oversized ears are drawn well, then saying that the ears should be drawn more realistically would be subjective criticism.
Criticism should be based on the artistic intent and how other artists who are good at that intent or style, should be seen as what that art should objectively try to be.

It's incredible how a kids show like Gumball has so much we can learn from. Nice Thumbnail btw 💪🏼
The fact that 34 people have the audacity to dislike this video about dealing with criticism is beyond me...
It's because this video has some really stupid points. I agree with most of it but he's acting like voicing a negative opinion about ANYTHING is morally wrong and acting like he's better than everyone who does. It's ok to voice negative opinions about things as long as you don't make it personal, especially when it comes to art. One of the best things about art is the conversations it starts, and those conversations would be boring as hell if everyone just kept their negative opinions to themselves. Idk I just think it's a perfect example of toxic positivity, negativity is a normal human trait and it's all about knowing when it's appropriate.
@@isaiahromero9861 No, I don't think he said that.
@@Orange_Swirl he did though lol. I agreed with the overall sentiment of this video but he definitely said a lot of really stupid shit like when he implied that anyone who writes/enjoys film reviews is not as woke as him or whatever. Plus he just came off as really insecure in this video, insulting his "haters" because he's clearly upset about it, and then saying "you just have to ignore the haters guys"
@@Orange_Swirl u just cant accept facts, just freaking out when someone gets constructive crtitism.
@@isaiahromero9861 When did he imply that?
I will tell you this, there are certain comments I saw him criticize for being "hate" comments that actually had good constructive criticism underneath the surface. For example, "the one trick pony" comment is referring to the fact that he seems to make only one type of video, a motivational video originating from various media, mostly cartoons. It could be good for him to branch out into something different every once in a while.
this is a going to sound really mean:
MEAN
My comment here is probably going to get buried, but I have read that "criticism" for many arts were supposed to be about helping the creator, rather than doing the complete opposite. If this is true, then it's kinda sad that the word "criticism" has lost some of it's meaning.
Its just that haters and absolute degenerates bully people in the name of critism, so people have used that word to cover blatant hate, which is why it's so misused and complicated

One idea I have for a future video is the Clarence episode “Average Jeff,” in it Jeff finds out that he’s not put into a certain group he wants to be in. I think it would be a nice way to message how you should react to when things don’t go your way even if you think it’s unfair. Also it could be a message for the idea of being average.
Yeah i liked that episode
it was cool how content he was with being perfectly average in his class. there are a lot of people out there who think that they're not worth anything because they're not the best or just okay at stuff but there isn't anything wrong with being in the middle.
@@naryosh_ i mean at the end he was content but before that he practically went insane

My practice is that if someone says something that seems ill intentented, still take it seirously. The thing is that just because I take it seirously and give it good consideration doesn't mean I have to agree in the end. Even if I find the criticism to be unreasonable, it's best to give it a fair consideration because there might be some nugget of truth in there that can aide me, even if I turn down the suggestions being made after considering them.
Honestly I can relate to you with the whole “people criticizing you” thing I would occasionally get a comment saying “cringe” or “bad” and I just respond either agreeing or giving them a rating from 1-10 and telling them how they can improve off the insult

This reminds me of a problem i face myself that is the polar opposite: being overly sympathetic. No matter what others do that bothers me, intentional or not, I don't want to give them anything negative at all even if they deserve it. I just know I wouldn't want it myself and don't want to put another person though it either. This causes a lot of stress for staying aware and I don't know any form of solution if there is one

“Haters” and Legitimate criticism are two different things. You forgot to mention how sometimes people deserve criticism when they fail to do their job. There’s nothing wrong with that. Also, legitimate criticism is how you grow as an artist or in whatever you do, as long as you’re mature enough to handle it with grace. I’m surprised you never mentioned this. You state the fact that other people may not agree with you, but you don’t ever give the consolidation that sometimes their criticism is valid. Besides, some people enjoy picking apart movies as part of the fun. Are you going to tell them that that enjoyment of movies is wrong?
that is true hating and criticism are different things! but I think the point of the video was more to express that if someone criticizes you in a hurtful way that’s bad. but positive criticism is good when it’s asked for. but usually for people’s art or stuff that has nothing to do with you, they don’t want criticism because it’s just them living their lives. And picking apart movies from an entire production isn’t the same as leaving a comment just saying it sucks to be mad.
@@ashbee2053 You also gotta know that it's complex to know when to give criticism, to limit when criticism is given only if it is asked for makes it so you can't criticize those who don't want to be critisized over an aspect of their lives even if that aspect is harmful for them and they would benefit from said criticism, there is always someone that is going to dislike you for even the most minimal reason no matter what, so trying to shut down all criticism that wasn't requested would be more detrimental. The important thing is to learn how to differenciate between that which is non-subtantial and criticism that does present solid bases on why it's being presented, even if you don't agree in the end getting to learn from a different standpoint helps you grow mentally, helps you be able to see a broader spectrum of points of view.
He talks about it at 1:32
@@ashbee2053 Nothing bad about it, necessarily. Just because it's not sugarcoated or obsequious doesn't make it invalid.
But people should use the criticism to think if they were in the wrong, to fix it. Not ignoring it, but not be afraid of it either. Not letting it define you.

I never realized it, but most episodes, if not ALL episodes of gunball, has a meaning, I did not see this until my siblings pointed it out, I never saw it because I just watched, not paying attention to all the detail.
It then made me realize that criticism is not putting you down, it’s lifting you up, only if you choose to accept it. Most things are not understood, till you get wiser and smarter, because you grow, and that is you do with criticism, you don’t understand and think that there calling you down, but you must take that and grow, fixing yourself to be better, and you will never reach perfect, but criticism does not force you to be perfect, only when take what’s important to you and grow. Even when they say “Lmao, ur content sux” you can still take that and make it better, you will only grow when you reach acceptance, and every detail is great on its own, and that’s what makes everything perfect to you but not to everyone. We all have our own perspectives and opinions and all, but it's nice to watch, makes my gears rotate.
If I were to live my life without criticism, I’d live in arrogance. Constructive criticism is necessary, it helps us self reflect on our actions. You just need to find the line between constructive and un-constructive criticisms. Disregard the “haters”, heed to those who only wish to guid you.
The amazing world of gumball is literally my whole childhood
Honestly I loved it a lot. One of the shows I drew constantly as a kid
Good news, the show is getting a movie. I'm currently rewatching ALL the episodes.
Since most youtubers I watch end their videos with “thanks for watching” I thought I’d start saying thanks for making in the comments.
Thanks for making!
I had a kid bullying me when I was younger and calling me gay, so i assumed he was confused about his own sexuality so I dig into that to make him stop, I told him to stop asking me out really loud so everyone could hear me every time he called me gay. This other kid tried to call me fat so I dug into his flab the same way, the secret to get kids to stop bullying you is to find out what they’re doing it for and turning it all around on them, they’ll shut up real quick
ok
Wow you’re so cool and savage. I wish i was like you

@what, that’s called homophobic, and I’m also a Steven universe hater just so you know

How do people hate your voice? That thing is music to my ears
True
I forgot where I discovered this statement, but it rings true.
"The problem of the post 2000's world is that there are too many deconstructive critics rather than constructive critics. A true critic will point out the cracks, but also acknowledge the refinements. But now people take too seriously what should be ignored. Listen to the true critics and reject the rest. For they know nothing of value. If they did wouldn't have reviewed as they did."
Hater: You suck
Made2Express: Imma end this man's whole career
Can we keep in mind the criticism can help us change and we shouldn’t write it off as people hating
Jesus Christ. Somehow you don’t know me, but you’ve managed to show me many life lessons my parents wouldn’t think of teaching me. I’m so grateful i found this channel💛
I was not the worst student but in high school I flunked everything except gym and history. I went to community college for 2 years while working as a seafood merchant and didn’t get my AA.
My parents never payed attention to my academics or me growing up because they parented my old brother 24/7 to keep him out of jail...
I was expected to go to college (no choice in that matter) my grandma would have disowned me had I not. Needless to say I dropped out and Its been 6 months and I haven’t told her that i’m in the process of getting my veterinary assistant certification at a trade school. My dad did the same thing and went to trade school to become a diesel tech and she is still disappointed in her son after 25 years (i’m 23)
I love my family but they expect so much from me that I feel hopeless most of the time. This is the reason i’m suicidal and have to take antidepressants and keep close contact with my doc. The only thing that is keeping me going is my best friend and running. When I feel at my lowest point, I just run for hours until I can’t keep to my feet. It makes me feel like I’ve at least done something i’m proud of.
Then you may want to stop being in contact with your family. If they are poisoning you, then it's best to get the hell away & never speak or listen to them again.
@ESTHER AWE Not everyone turns soft after hearing someone is suicidal, unfortunately.
Best way to improve content is using the “compliment sandwich” advice. One compliment, then constructive feedback, then one more compliment. If a comment is all negative then they’re motive is most likely jealousy
This is the type of video the entire internet should really learn from. I keep seeing these long-ass videos criticizing popular shows like Steven Universe, and they tend to create a bad stigma that because of these videos you now must automatically hate the show. If you like it, then you will get hate for it too. It really does undermine the work the artists have made because every show, no matter how "bad" they may seem, still has talented artists working on them. What people need to realize is that there is a huge difference between actual criticism and just plain harassment and ridicule. This is exactly why I just can't take those "criticism" channels seriously.
I'm SO relieved I'm not the only one who thinks like this, especially with the Steven Universe example you gave. I feel this way about many things and, often, the people behind these videos are hella rude and toxic
@@ashhabimran239 suprised you actually found my comment considering how many likes it got. But glad you agree
@@CVerse I personally love steven universe and I never understand the hate.
Any reason why most people hate it ?
@@kartikadewi3270 I don’t think most people hate it, but the problem is that there are loads of ‘review’ channels on UA-cam that aren’t too trustworthy. They’re either overly-critical, nitpicky, or just plain douchebags. They nitpick and complain about different media products and often, their viewers just mindlessly agree with them and they end up creating a hate bandwagon.

I randomly founded your channel and believe me your videos are awesome. I was bullied by others because of my thin voice which was not in my control because one of my vocal cords don't operate properly I was very depressed and tried to make my voice deeper but it was painful and then I found your videos and believe me whenever I feel down I watch your videos. Keep it up. My wishes are with you.

When I was 15 I wasn't a troll.I just didn't know what criticism is.
When I fear what other people think, I think of the situation like this; I can’t read their mind so why should I worry? what if they say their thoughts to me out loud? Just pretend they don’t exist! Or say something that is equally rude, it’s always funny to see their reaction
I get what you mean, but I don't think being equally rude to someone is a good choice, as it makes you the same as them. And you actually replying to them in a rude way, proves that you actually DO care about what they say. So it's better to just pretend and ignore what they say. Or you can use humour as well, as it will clear down the negativity.
I don't get it this guy's voice sounds pretty nice, I watched the video to just like it.
I love how you never even bother to censor the mean comments just to indirectly call them out.

Negativity sells, sadly.

Anton Ego's speech is one of those things that make men shed a tear
Not gonna lie dude, when talking about trolls and genuine critics I get the feeling you missed the mark, at least when referring to a critic as: "A passionate fan who just wants the best from you." The wording of that just feels arrogant, like all people who offer some form of constructive criticism are truly invested in your work.
Further, some of your commentary carries a rather... misguided and potentially harmful message, as you seem to act on the assumption that you're right about most things. For example: you mention later in your bullying video that "There's a 99.9% chance the person hating is going through some kind of emotional pain". The reason I bring this up as a 'misguided and potentially harmful message', is because it's just not true. It's pushing the Cosby Show style After-School special narrative, that every shitty person was abused, or has a shitty home life, when it's just not true. It's accurate to some, but to make a blanket statement about all those who do shitty things, especially attaching that label to someone who just goes around leaving shitty comments/reviews on media, is giving far too much credit to someone who is likely just bored.
"If a group of people on the internet call a piece of media bad, it's somehow 'facts' " Yes, it IS. The barometer for whether or not a piece of material is good or bad, is if it's faults outweigh the level of enjoyment you get out of it, or emotional significance said material leaves with you. It's why it's a grey area, because opinions change for various reasons, but the issues will always be a constant. Now, the 'if it's bad you should stop liking it is terrible logic' it's not terrible logic, it's sound. If something is objectively bad you shouldn't like it. That being said, logic has very little place in the court of public opinion, or even general opinion. There's nothing wrong with liking something that's bad. I mean shit, some people LOVE Tommy Wiseau's: The Room, despite it being for all intents and purposes, a terrible film.
...My man really just used a quote from a fictional critic from a movie with an anti-critique mesasge, trying to discredit criticism as a whole. The whole premise of Ratatouille is 'Do what you love, follow your passion, no matter what others say.'
You took the words out of my mouth. Thank you.
When talking about art there is no good or bad, just different opinions, what might be an issue for you might be a good thing for others. There is no "Objectively bad", art is subjective
I think you understood the video wrong, first he said several times on the video that he is talking about criticism in general not constructive criticism, dunno about the always right thing since i not saw his bullying video, but i not feel like that is wrong when people search for videos of that type they want a answer, and for them to feel better about the answer they need to know if the person making the video is happy with their own answer, if you gonna agree the person is right or not that is on yourself, but if he feel like he is right there is nothing wrong with it, "If a group of people on the internet call a piece of media bad, it's somehow 'facts' " "yes it is!" here we go with you not understanding what he is saying again, what he is saying is that if something is said to be bad in a piece of media not mean that everyone that said the media is good is wrong, here a example a lot of people say Sonic Mania is bad because of classic sonic this, classic sonic that and etc but would say you that just because those people say that it is bad, everyone else that say is good will now be wrong? especially if there is more people that like it than hate it? what he is saying is that if a group say something is bad, not mean it will automatically be bad, because there is more people than just that group now if absolute everyone or most of the people say that it is bad then i can understand your point.
"Now, the 'if it's bad you should stop liking it is terrible logic' it's not terrible logic, it's sound. If something is objectively bad you shouldn't like it. " again you not understood what he said, what he is saying that even if something is considered bad you can still enjoy it because personal tastes and likes exist, here a example there is a final fantasy game i really love but almost everyone i talk to hate it and say is bad, even most of the media say it is mediocre at best but just because they say the bad i should automatically hate it? well not really, because i still enjoyed it and liked it, you can't put people judgements over your own liking, and that also goes to artists and game makers and so on if you want to make something that make people happy, you should also prioritize your happiness you need to make something that both you and the general audience like, not something that only the audience likes, also i never watched ratatouille but is clear the guy was just using it to proof their point a bit more not to "discredit criticism as a whole" especially when he said constructive criticism is important on the video.
@@RaphielShiraha64 Do a couple of things for me. Go back and edit your post to separate each argument by a lines spacing, makes it easier to read on the whole.
As far as the first argument made about if people don't like a thing it's bad: it's true, when talking about the majority. The issue comes with conflating the minority for the majority, thinking the opinions of a vocal 5% are the shared opinions of a silent majority, or just as bad: Treating the majority like the minority.
At the end of the day for media to be successful, it needs to hold a positive opinion with the majority.
@@spartanseventyeight8673 yeah but that is the thing, it need to be a majority you should not stop something you enjoy just because a random guy on internet said that hate you, what matter is the majority, also sorry for that my english is not the best especially on long comments.
