Are these trains cars powered by the locomotive, or do they each have wheel driven generators and batteries? Since your train was partly pulled by a freight loco, ad the wiring in the short clip you have between loco and car didn'ts eem to have power, I was curious of freight locoas are still equipped to power passenger cars?
@@doc7austin The air conditioning system and other electrical systems are powered by the electricity received from the locomotive. There is indeed a generator solution, but it only operates the lighting and supplies the batteries. In this case, the electric heating is supplied by the locomotive. This is old system.
@@doc7austin Until 1990, VIA Rail Canada still ran the 1954 steam heated transcontinental fleet it inherited from CP Rail. Each car had bogie driven generator and batteries that allows for numbe of hours of autonomy. Locomotives did not have generators to power the passenger cars (they had the steam genertator to heat them). VIA Rail, in exchange for dropping true transcontinental service with the big govt cuts, got momey to conver the fleet to electric head and "head end power" (and got new locos that had electric generators instead of steam generators). And in many of your videos, you could see some rail cars, especially restaurant cars that had generators attached to bogies and battery packs (and hence they don't get gauge changes at border with USSR. And yes, this was enough power to run air conditioning.
If CFR frm french Chemin de Fer de Roumanie (or Roumain) ? Or does romanian language have railways as CF as well as in french? BTW are there any trains in europe where crossing a non Shengen border has the border guards pass through the train, or is it a requirement that all passengers exit?
Hoped you enjoyed Romania!
of course, I did very much
@@doc7austin looking forward to more visits to our country :D

Powered by the locomotive. The cable connectors can be seen under the locomotive bumpers at 9:30
i think the train cars are powered by the locomotive; i mean how else you you run the air conditioning system

whether passenger have to exit the train - it depends on the country and border regulation; normally, passenger are checked on the train
CFR stands for Caile Ferate Romane or as you said, Chemins de Fer de Roumains
@@HaidaMaYT Thanks! So it is romanian abbreviation. Was curious if French had created the railway in some distant past or something. So obviously not.
@@jfmezeiyou are welcome!
@@doc7austin Do you know an example other than Bulgaria /Turkey rail border, where passengers are required to disembark the train for border check?
The train is construction is in arad Astra tras carpatic headquarters
and you could see the main office building of astra in my video.
@doc7austin yes you can see from the runway station when you are on the platform
Why the lack of service/catering?
nothing - there is virtually no catering available on both trains
I've come to the conclusion that the reason we never see you in mirrors is that you are a vampire 🙂
