@@AskSebby thanks Sebastian, I have another question regards gaining status, I remember AA you can won your status, like executive platinum, if you travel so many miles in short period of time, do you know if that kind of challenge still active and how many companies you can do it .
Thanks
Dang, I guess I have focused too much on credit cards and not enough on the banks themselves, lol. I had no idea that banks valued certain levels of assets like that!! You should make a video on best bank for each level of assets: ie:
I really hope they come out w/ BoA style multipliers
aeroplan miles sale is definitely super good deal, nonstopdan turned me onto this sale. i only bought 600k miles because i am afraid of devaluation, and i dont want to buy more miles than i have plan to use in the next 12 months. but everyone should buy at least 150k miles, 1800 USD for a roundtrip business class flight is amazingly cheap.
Newbie here. Is it pretty common to get (or is it pretty easy to book) a business class leg at $900 worth of points? I understand YMMV but it common enough to hold onto 500k to 600k points until you can actually book?
I’m definitely considering right now. I want to be early next year for flight in the following year so deciding whether I should buy with the possibility to book in 8 months
@@deliverydoctor You would typically purchase points where you're looking to "top off" or already have redemption[s] in mind with appropriate availability.
I will also say that Avianca also has sales like this somewhat frequently (at least twice per year from my experience, but sometimes 3 or 4 times per year). AP and LM have different availability for partner awards, so that's why I would typically look for redemptions I'm going to already make and purchase points if necessary, or if there's a different redemption with a competing alliance (like FlyingBlue, for example) so I want to keep my flexible CC points and the value of the points sale reflects elevated value over the cash difference, including fees for those award redemptions.
I guess with all of that said, I typically go about points purchases considering the alliance those points are part of, their nominal purchase value compared to their cash price ticketing price and award availability. The more flexible and widely available the awards redemptions are with what you're looking for with a points program then the easier it is to really justify the points purchase and find value there.
🚢 very informative, thank you!
We need a standard gas/ev and grocery category on one or more cards. Come on. Chase should sell UR points to third parties too. Make a profit off it.
Thx for mathing it out with us, brother Sebby. 💯💰😎
🚢 Planning a trip to europe on september from SFO. I am optimizing for award travel to any major airport in premium economy / business, any recommendations?
My phone obviously was listening to what was going on as I literally just left Chase bank to meet with a banker. Initially just to have them call reconsideration line on a denial for Ink Preferred card (it worked!!) but then they asked about my other assets (401k's, house I own, etc) and started going through things they had to offer. They just were telling me about Private Client though...no mention of these Vault offerings. I'm between $750k and $1M currently so I might dig into this a bit more.
🚢
Better use it up before they devalue it if you’re buying the aeroplan miles but the value is there.
How to change from CAD to USD om aeroplan's website?
Hey Sebby! Do you have any experience with buying Aeroplan points? If so, will they count as "travel" for certain cards? In other words, would it count as 5x potentially for the Amex Platinum for example?
They don't for any cards. They code as business transactions.
Could i buy these points on my aircanada account and upgrade my lufthansa travel to europe next month and back home the month after that?
Doubtful prob have to cancel and rebook
Any news on the CSR revamp or new benefits? Really like the card but losing some benefits.
🚢
1. I suspect one of three things either interest on points like BILT, Chase HYSA finally or a loyalty program like BoA personally I hope and think the BoA is the most likely as it fixes a lot of the complaints about Chase credit cards but only if you have money.
2. No all my PTO is being saved for my wedding next Spring.
3. Not since United slashed award availability
about your first "bullet point":
It doesn't mean you need $750k in cash sitting in an account. It's *assets*. Cash is obviously an asset (unless you think of it strictly in a financial opportunity cost lens, then it's a depreciable asset since cash doesn't keep up with inflation). However, properties are assets, stocks/SDIRAs are assets (which is why Sebby said Self-Directeds count towards assets), etc...If your business checking account is with them, and you're actually circulating money through it, that business relationship would help with you moving up through the tranches. What I'm curious about is if you have a business account with them, utilize their business CCs for that spend, but are leveraged through a different institution. Would be great if they could rate match or beat those existing financial mediums and bring those under one roof, with preferential rates with a stronger relationship. I imagine that is probably a greater possibility with the JPM PC and JPM PB service levels. If they go BoA style then that would be a very solid move for me since I wouldn't really consider other banks given the flexibility and award accumulation through the total relationship that would develop.
About the second point: Is that wedding like 3 weeks long? WTF?
The Third: United Miles are pretty much garbage saving for some partner redemptions. Otherwise, I generally avoid US carrier points systems like the plague since they offer so little in value it's truly pathetic why people even throw their earned/flown miles into those programs.
How come I’m only seeing 100 percent bonus on my aeroplan account? Are there hoops I need to jump through to get the 125 percent bonus?
🚢 Sebby, thanks for following through on the video 👍. I think JPM will blow it out of the park by q4. I'm really curious to know what the new card benefits will be. Maybe they'll add a lifestyle credit to the new emerald card, which would be nice. I want to get the ink cash in order to receive the 10% bonus, but im on the fence.
Dont hold your breath. The Emerald Card will be a branded CSR Card for Chase Private Clients with a few extra perks.
🚢 speculatively bought some AP points. Easiest way to book emirates business which has a ton of availability from my city and a decent rate.
🚢 What's the best strategy for couples who wants to max travel with United (ANA, Star Alliance)? Love your content and would love a pointer here (fellow SFOer). Also would like to upgrade/downgrade to avoid redundancy. TIA! 🙏
Current lineup:
Amex Platinum
United Explorer
World of Hyatt
CSP
CFU
amex platinum for ANA/Star Alliance would be best bet (if you're thinking of Asia). If it's Europe then maybe leverage UR points unless you dedicate the UR to Hyatt awards and the availability is there. Europe is way easier to find decent deals than Asia with UR points. Europe is accessible through basically any transferable card with FlyingBlue and the Avios family. Asia is a little harder, but the ANA redemption is by far the best for Asia. Next would be Virgin Atlantic, but good luck finding the availability. Next up would be, again, Avios family. Also, to maximize the amount of flights vs quality of flights, go economy rather than Premium or J/F for your flights.
All of this just depends upon your travel goals: get there in style or go to as many places as possible as cheaply as possible.
Spent $2000 for 180k miles which is minimum on my screen for the 1.1c deal
🚢 when do the Aeroplan points expire?
Never as long as you have a transaction within 18 months.
@@hockey1freak thanks
Great video!
Is it worth using transfer partners for domestic flights or only international?
United and Delta have horrible mile redemption better to use the portal on those
United barely opens domestic redemptions for Star Ailliance partners now. Even if they did you'd want to use 10k Turkish for economy, 15k for business and 20k for first class domestics. Not aeroplan.
@@hockey1freak For domestic: 1st is TK, 2nd is LM, 3rd is AP. I haven't checked ANA but do they even do US domestic partner flights?
At least, that's my roster and the order in which I tend to proceed. You'll want to check availability among the 3, regardless, as they all aren't symmetrical.
@@ryanshannon6963Please spell out the complete word instead of acronym
🚢 Does that mean we might see new Chase cards? Something in between the Sapphire Reserve and JP Morgan Reserve.
Or is that what the Emerald Reserve is rumored to be?
Maybe! We'll have to wait and see.
I dont think so. I think the "Emerald Card" is just going to be a branded CSR card for Chase Private Clients.
@@calisteve2023 yeah makes sense to cater to that specific group.
I just think it’s wild to go from a CSR and then the only thing above that is the JPMR but needing $10M in assets 😂
I think you need to add a slight amount of reverb to your vocals in post man. It’s too “in my face” ..I don’t know how to explain it. 😅 thanks for the video and information it provided.
Perhaps turn down the volume? I don't even know what you're talking about.
First republic customer are still weird when they go in branch, is like they want to spend an hour with the banker everytime they go
Not all FRB customers, but that is the kind of service we received.
@@calisteve2023 I never once heard hold music when I banked with FRB.
If we buy Aeroplan points with Amex Platinum do we get 5X MR points?
Depends on how it codes. I think Amex frowns on buying miles like they do for gift cards. Might be against rules for earning but I don't recall.
nope. the vendor who processes the transaction is AE PTS, not air canada. Amex did not recognize that as air travel. no 5x for me. so i put additional add-ons on my hyatt card instead.
Damn my go to Hyatt place in Mexico at 3.5k pts/night is now a Mariott hotel. Please pray for me.
🚢Platinum Rewards-type strategies would be a creative way for banks to cut out unprofitable churners. It's far easier to change credit cards than switch your bank. So start gating the top-end rewards and cards behind having AUM with the bank and either nerf existing rewards or just let them atrophy. Could also end up being a safety net against further regulation of swipe fees.
I’m a former FRB customer, and I had to push pretty hard to get classified as a “JPM private client”.
Most people at the bank hadn’t heard of it. And so far, I don’t see any differences between it and chase private client. So please keep us posted as you hear more!
JPM PB entry point is $5mm
10mil
@@TeslaRoadtrips Yes, but they are "flexible"
Do we know the process to get the JP Morgan Private Client?
Have an old qualified FRB account or have $750k+ in assets.
@AskSebby it's not opened to clients yet is it? The current alternative is the 1M at schwab for the mesely 200 bucks Amex plat credit
I have an account with Chase and it is not a wonderful experience. I tried to sell a bond today and the system was “not available” 😮 I am getting ready to move to Schwab.
@@patienceisalpha It is available via JPMorgan Wealth Partners/ Advisors.
@@patienceisalpha they are still working on onboarding FRB clients. its a huge mess
⛵I must admit I comment a lot on your videos because of the hook at the end, but I must say logically the tiers make sense and might actually shift some spending from other cards to chase travel if it becomes a thing. It will make other brokers work harder for your business also.
Too bad my Canadian account got locked up and they won’t unlock it
What is the best card to use on the aeroplan sale?
Capital One Venture, Venture X, Blue Business Plus, Citi double cash
🚢 Bout to get 500k what should my move be?
No financial advice here 🤐
🚢 CSR or Citi Costco - which card 3x for travel is better?
CSR for travel + credits + lounge + intro bonus. Citi if you're buying tons of gas specifically at Costco and you want that case of water or rotisserie chicken intro bonus. CSR calculator here: www.asksebby.com/credit-card-reviews/chase-sapphire-reserve-calculator
@AskSebby ty Sebby! Still one of the best channels our there!!
Costco gives money back through purchases and Citi gives money back. Costco travel has wonderful offers!

Hi

Hi!
👋
1st
Almost! 🙌
🛳️ 2) yes used air France points for business(solo) 3.) yes I am I want to get to SE Asia for my birthday in November. I have over 500k ihg and 300k Marriott pts to cover the hotel.I want to fly via ANA!
@AskSebby Recently I got a 250,000 intro offer from Amex to pickup the business platinum. Have you heard of this yet? If you want, I can send you a screenshot if you want to talk about this in a video.
I saw a 250 last month. I just checked again and they had me at initially 150, then bumped to 200k when I left and returned a few minutes later. May try card match after I close on this deal to see if I can hit the 250k again. Well, I need to go with Amex Gold Business first, then Bus. Plat to maximize the SUB with amex.
