Branch line Society 's The Garsdale Growler 27/08/23

Todays Branch Line Society charter ran to help raise funds for Martin House Children's Hospice was operated by DB Cargo, starting out from Derby the charter was hauled by 37401 "Mary Queen of Scots" + 37425 Concrete Bob / Sir Robert McAlpine and tnt with 67005 Queens Messenger up to Carlisle where the 37s would make way for DB Class 92 92029 fresh from overhaul for the return to Derby, we first see the Charter passing Arcow Quarry at Helwith Bridge then after pulling out out Ribblehead Quarry siding to cross Ribblehead Viaduct later we see 92029 tnt 67005 exiting Oxenholme Station on route back to Derby, thanks for watching.

Great filming on a rare Day two 37s visited Ribblehead vituall Quarry, great sounds over the viaduct, which worked well, and a lot of people came for a look on a drizzly day, should have my video up tomorrow sometime, cheers Nige, Steve . 🎥👍

Great shots Nige.
Its always good to see 37s out & about.
But for me even better to see a 92 in daylight, the first DB 92 over Shap since November 2015!

Beautiful noise at Arcow. Once again I'm in your video, I'm not doing it on purpose, honest. I thought about Ribblehead, but the sun was out higher up the line, so off I went like a drowned rat.

A DB Class 92 running under its own power on the WCML is rare enough, let alone on a passenger train. Very unusual train formation - no brake vehicle! 🤨

It should have had the brake generator vehicle which is normally part of the set along with a class 66 on the rear but this derailed on a charter at Wakefield yesterday so they ran it without today with the staff in the rear two tables at the class 67 end of the set for the duration of the tour and the 67 substituting in for the 66 to act as the generator car for the tour. Hoping the 92 does some other trips as the run back with it this evening between Carlisle and Preston was fantastic

Why do most of these trains filmed have an extra engine at the back? Aren’t they strong enough without the extra push?

Thanks for watching Mary, the engine on the back of this particular one was to generate electricity for the coaches but some of the the steam trains have a diesel on the rear for heating the coaches and sometimes for shunting at the destination and also assisting the locos if needed, cheers 👍
