    When you stock up on that favorite racquet, stock up on replacement grommets and head guards. Those get discontinued too.

      Don't understand why all tennis brands feel the need to constantly introduce new rackets and shoes when everyone prefers it if they didn't. I'm buying a tennis racquet not a new phone

    It's the same with me. But in my case I stuck with two models, and quite different.
    The defensive one (2015 Blade 104) I strung it with Kirschbaum Super Smash Orange who give me more power and the combo is quite universal and give my the possibility to be aggressive when I need to be.
    The offensive one (2013 APD) is strung with Head Velocity MLT and this combo gives me flexibility to play aggressive even if I am defensive in my play.
    In periods I'm attached to one of my combos. And I agree: you should stack with the same racquet.
    Thanks for all your work!

    There have definitely been times for me when my second racquet has come in handy. Of course, you can always ask to borrow someone else's racquet, but that is so embarrassing. Better to be the one who can lend them out!

    Two should be enough in your bag but then how many more you have depends a lot on how quickly whatever stringing service you use turns round rackets and how easily you can get to them. If you play often, daily or close to daily, then unless you string yourself or are very near somewhere that does them quickly then I think three or four are needed.

    I have 2 rackets and one almost always stay at home, never broke a string, maybe because I'm an intermediate and always string once a month/3 weeks when I feel the racket has started to lose tension, the whole different tensions also, is something aligned more with some Pros, Nadal for example, like many others, alway have the rackets at the same tension and adjust themselves to the different court conditions.

    I agree that having different rackets in your bag isn’t a good idea, because if you go between rackets it can actually throw off your game a little bit, especially if the rackets are extremely different, but something like the pure arrow and pure Drive, they’re very similar.

    For me it’s three. But I have two bags. I have a “club” bag that I store in a locker at the tennis center I play at most and a “travel” bag that I keep at home and take with me at the various other places I play at. Thus my aim is to buy six racquets. One thing you didn’t mention was price points. And because I aim to buy six frames, I want a good price point. Thus I may be looking for an older generation when the TW and TE puts them on sale. Anybody do anything similar?

      What string and gauge are you using? That's a lot of strings to break in one match! 😧

    I have a bag that hold 3...one with string that is more spin friendly, one with less spin friendly string, and a 98 inch head stick I use with the ball machine.

    You forgot to mention: if stocking up, you need to use a shop's matching service. Otherwise you end up with a bunch of the 'same' racquet that all feel and play slightly differently to one another.

    • @K4R3N
      @K4R3N 2 роки тому +2

      Nik, the shop will grab several of the same racquet from their inventory and try to pick 2-3 (whatever quantity you order) that are closest together in weight and balance. The quality control for some brands is wildly all over that place even for the same exact racquet. Yonex leads in quality control.

    • @transamination
      @transamination 2 роки тому +2

      @@IntuitiveTennis247 as K4R3N said, the shop will measure the static weight, balance and swing-weight of say 20 of whichever racquet model you want. You can then pick however many of those you want that are most similar in specs. (Because there's no point buying two of same racquet if one is swing-weight 330 and the other is swing-weight 310 - they won't play the same).

      I’ve never found any tennis retailer in UK that does this. In fact, most of them seem to get annoyed if you ask about this and the staff will typically behave like the customer is being unnecessarily picky to worry about things like weight, balance point and swingweight.

      @@K4R3N Indeed TWE does. Costs €20 and they measure weight, balance point and swingweight of six racquets. I was meaning a store based in UK. Not only do they generally not provide such a service, their response when asked about it can range from being difficult to outright hostile.
      I do my own racquet matching and customisation, so its not a big problem for me. However, given how bad racquet QC can be, it’s a shame others less technically inclined do not have easy access to such a service, especially from a local store.
