Erik is a Swedish rock and metal singer. He won Swedish Idol in 2009. He was the lead singer of the the rock band H.E.A.T. for several years. Unfortunately he was diagnosed with leukemia in 2021. Nevertheless he joined the American heavy metal band Skid Row in 2022, but decided to leave them this year to take care of his health.

Eric is stunning. I agree, Erik's version is the best. Mariah was great, but his just has more power and emotion

"Without You" is a song written by Pete Ham and Tom Evans of the British rock group Badfinger and first released on their 1970 album No Dice. The power ballad has been covered by more than 180 artists and the versions released as singles by Harry Nilsson (1971) (my favorite ❤❤ ) Mariah Carey (1994) became very successful worldwide. Paul McCartney once described the ballad as "the killer song of all time".
In 1972, writers Ham and Evans received the British Academy's Ivor Novello Award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically.

Fil, I first heard this Badfinger original track as a cover by Harry Neilson, which blew me away - just like this version is doing. Yes, he is amazing. I've not heard Mariah's cover.

Erik does a collab with Tommy Johansson on Carolus Rex (Sabaton) that is great. They plan on doing more collabs in future. BTW - total aside....I know you like her, Faouzia just started competing in Singer 2024 from China. Her first song last week was Crazy (Gnarls Barkley). Great performance and hopefully lots more for her in that competition.
Mariah Carey? Origimal was by Badginger either in late 60s or early 70s, they were on the Beatles' Apple label. Mariah's was a cover.
