I know plenty of fans have their own opinions on the final roster, but for me, this was the perfect Smash Bros. roster. Not only did they include plenty of fan requested characters like Ridley, Simon, and Chrom in the base game, but kept it going with the Fighters Pass. Fans can shout Melee all they want, this is my Melee.
My only true Smash Ultimate wishes were Shadow the Hedgehog and Jeanne as Echo Fighters for Sonic and Bayonetta, but this is a pretty good roster in all honesty.

Min-Min has to be my favourite out of these. Not because it's super screamy or hype, but just because I've been watching this channel for a few months so I sorta got the fact he really likes Min-Min and seeing him just casually be happy is nice. Plus the "she's legal" at the end got me a nice little giggle.
I've been binging these reaction compilations trying to get a sense of that hype we had. I dont think we will ever reach this level of hype ever again in my lifetime in the video game industry. That's how big this game was and is. Its SO GOOD that I do not think they can one up it. Switch2 getting a SSB Ultimate Deluxe with a few more characters and stages and spirits and that's enough for me.
- Ridley's trailer sort of references Alien (one of Metroid's biggest inspirations), with Samus being followed by Mario and Mega Man - a human and an android, the two kinds of people fighting the Xenomorphs. - Simon's and Richter's trailer is the very first instance of the Poltergust G-00 - a whopping 14 months before Luigi's Mansion 3 was released. - Isabelle (and Tom Nook) was referring to both Smash Bros. and Animal Crossing Pocket Camp in her trailer. - You might've heard it by now, but "Erdrick" is a title, not a character named. These Heroes' default names are Eleven (DQ11), Arusu (DQ3), Solo (DQ4), and Eight (DQ8). (Ironically, Eleven would earn the Erdrick title at the end of DQ11 - though his land being named "Erdrea" may have been a hint.) - The characters in Terry's trailer are, in order: Kyo Kusanagi('s hand) (The King of Fighters), Ryo Sakazaki (Art of Fighting), Andy Bogard (Fatal Fury), Joe Higashi (Fatal Fury), Geese Howard (Fatal Fury), Nakoruru (Samurai Shodown), and Iori Yagami (The King of Fighters). - "I see. Too many swordsmen, are there?" Between this and Ridley's tagline, I'm convinced that the Smash team watches us for potential comedy material, heh. - Fun fact: Captain Falcon hadn't had any new voice lines recorded since the first Smash, but they called in his VA just for voice lines of Falcon slurping ramen in Min Min's trailer. - You know how Alex, Zombie, and Enderman got their own taglines? The reason female Byleth got her own is because the male and female versions have slightly different names in Japanese (Bereto and Beresu). - Sephiroth's trailer is loaded with Advent Children references. Besides Cloud's outfit and the song "Advent: One-Winged Angel", there's: him swirling dark clouds overhead, dangling Mario at the end of his sword (though in a more comical way), "Stay where you belong, in my memories."/"I will never be a memory.", wrapping himself in his wing soon after...And of course, there are other references in the gameplay segments, like his infamous Hell's Gate toward Aerith, walking into a portal on the highway at the end of Remake, etc. - Let's just say tossing defeated opponents off a cliff is a...recurring execution method among the Mishimas. - In some ways, you could say Sora's trailer is the visual embodiment of the lyrics of Lifelight.
Steve and Banjo are still my hypest characters. Joker too, but I only played P5 after he released, so initially, I wasn't all too excited. I was blown away though. I did know Joker was a huge deal.
I gotta say, I like your reactions. But I also like that even the big channels have the same problems I have with some of these broadcasts. As a smaller channel it gives me hope.

my only real complaint with the newcomers is i wish we had more genres that aren’t in smash represented. fps is obvious with everyone sad that doom slayer and master chief didn’t get in (myself included), but i would’ve loved to see visual novels represented with phoenix wright, or bullet hells represented by reimu (never even played touhou i just think it’s cool that it’s a franchise that’s basically in the public domain), stuff like that. also would’ve been nice to see more villains. still in terms of actual choices for characters the only ones i think are “bad” are pyra/mythra, byleth, and min min, only because they feel like they’re there out of obligation. still all the dlc characters are super fun to play, and i don’t regret preordering both passes whatsoever even if i hadn’t played the games a decent amount of characters are from just because they’re so much fun and for the most part are still really exciting additions
I love watching people's reactions, so many loved characters, I wished I had played more Nintendo games after the N64, I came back late on the Switch :( Even though Minecraft is my favorite game of all time, I also wasn't a big fan of him entering the game, I just don't feel it...
I’m like 100% sure the reaction of mine to the direct where they said it was an ARMS character was among the lost videos from the hacking. When I asked UA-cam, I wanted them to get the bigger vids back, like the Mario Strikers & Mario & Luigi vids for example, but a lot of stuff between late 2019 - early 2020 are just gone, hence a sizable gap between those vids mentioned + 2 streams, and a 2020 Mario discussion + the Origami King reaction. If I recall, I was looking forward to which ARMS rep it would be, but also interested in how that was the approach they took revealing what game the character would be from.
Can I just redig my grave and mention how much it hurts my soul that Rex is not the fighter? I genuinely LOVED his character. He is more mature than almost every other adult I have ever met. He is a great role model and has so many themes and lessons to learn from, aside from his cheesy Salvager Code one-liners, of course. The technical "slave", Pyra, got in, but her Driver, or master, didn't...wow. I know she is one of the 3 ultimate blades and is a capable blade for long periods of time on her own, but not only must she still need to be awakened by a driver, but Rex and Pyra are synced together. They feel each other's pain, and they need their other flow in order to actually land attacks successfully. Pyra and Mythra are dependent on Rex not only on a technical level, but emotionally. He gives them, along with his team, the will and motivation to fight. There were many times where Rex and his forgiveness and motivation made me teary-eyed and emotional, so don't let me catch you saying Pyra and Mythra are more based than Rex again.
@@sebastianmora5344 It’s not even from the costume, Sakurai said Rex was going to be the next fighter after Sephiroth but he struggled trying to make him work alongside Pyra and Mythra. Developing & designing all 3 at once was the obstacle.
@@SuperMarioT I just thought that Rex would be the hack-&-slasher whilst Pyra would show up for the special attacks, like Flame Nova and Prominence Burn. That's how I imagined it, anyways.
The base Rooster was already prerty neat. The first fighters pass was actually pretty great for me. Joker a, pleasant suprise, Hero and Banjo where freaking hype for me, Terry was okay. And Byleth... well was there. (No i'm not a mad hoe i'm just utterly indifferent to them. Now a hottake: For me (PERSONALLY) the fighters pass 2 was... unintersting as a whole. Besides Steve and Kazuya maybe i either dont know/care (Min min Pyra/Myhrta) or didnt like (Sephiroth) or never played a game of them (Sora). My only wish (Lloyd Irving) came back again as a mii Costum sadly.^^ I'm glad for the fans who wanted them and happy Sakurai this time could finish the pass with (for many) and absolut highlight. May he now take his long deserved break :)
