I am 15 years old and i was born in Namibia and my father is south african and my mother in namibian, is there anyway i can get a south african birth certificate?
Is it possible to have a Dual Citizenship if you are coming from America? To say if I bought a home and I want to retire there, can I still apply for a citizenship?
Yes you totally can. A lot of retirees from places like the US, Europe, etc. actually love coming to South Africa for retirement because the cost of living is significantly cheaper here compared to the US while the quality of life is really good too. You will be moving to South Africa on a retirement visa which you can then "upgrade" to a permanent residence permit of which after a couple of years you will qualify for citizenship... check out my previous video on permanent residency in SA - youtube.co/watch?v=RyFA_aTEqAs
Interesting video. I'm planning on moving to Cape Town in the near future, Retired and I wanted to know which Bank would you recommend (ABSA,FNB,etc) or Real-estate (SEEFF, DOGDON, etc) Thanks
Hey Tino my name is Jabulile. My Dad is Zimbabwean and my Mom was South African so after she passed on my my dad married another woman from Zimbabwe. My dad has been here for 26 years, my aunt for 15 years. They both don't have a South African citizenship so it's a problem for my three siblings to get a citizenship because they were born in this here in SA. How can we fix this because they have been going up and down with this issue.
Hey Hilda. I agree with Mahlatse. Your mom was South African so you are automatically a South African too. You should be able simply get your South African ID with your birth certificate (which will have details of your mother). However, if your siblings' mother is not South African then they I don't think they can apply for citizenship. They might be able to apply for permanent residency if your father still has a valid Permanent Residence permit for South Africa though.
If you father was a South African citizen when you were born then you should qualify. If he is a South African citizen now you should also qualify. Disclaimer: I’m not an expert if you are considering this is is best to consult an immigration agency; they are better equipped to deal with these things. You can find a few of them on Google... you can also try reach out to the department of home affairs but I dunno how useful those guys can be for such enquiries.
How long does naturalisation take? I'm thinking of getting dual citizenship, but I'm concerned the process will take very long. This was very informative though, thank you ✨
I haven't been through the process myself but from what I've heard, the processing time after you have submitted your Citizenship application can be up to 3 years..sometimes more if there are complications

Uhm i have a question 😊.. Uhm i am currently dating a lesbian from Namibia and i am Namibian as well so we want to start our lives in upington (sa). So how do we apply for citizenship cause we both are Namibian?
if you a Namibian citizen born before 1989,u r referred as a former citizen by SA law. You can just resume your citizenship, find that at home affairs department
Long as waiting times and not very easy to go through the application but I guess that's because it's fairly easy to meet the requirements compared to the alternative routes.

Would I qualify for citizenship/passport if my father was born there and moved to the UK after he was 18? I've heard conflicting answers...
If you father was a South African citizen when you were born then you should qualify. If he is a South African citizen now you should also qualify.
