Go look at the United States from 2000 to 2023 and what you see is we were a little over 2 trillion a year to our coffers trumps tax cuts exploded that to 5.8 trillion a year within less than a decade and they still are spending 7.8 trillion a year when a decade ago 3 trillion year was enough to run our government.

Toronto, ON: The Canadian Taxpayers Federation is sounding the alarm after the federal government released a report showing it collected hundreds of millions of dollars more in carbon taxes than it rebated last year.
“Anybody who has believed Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s rhetoric on the carbon tax is being made out to look like a fool,” said Jasmine Moulton, Ontario Director of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation. “His government said it wouldn’t go up past $50 per tonne by 2022 and that it would put more money back into our pockets, but both claims have now been proven to be blatant falsehoods.”

Capital gain tax increase effect will tricke down even to the small workers. Workers will have hard time asking for increase because their employers are already bleeding for the increased tax!

No this is a fair tax. The wealthy have done extremely well for many years now. Why should a fireman, teacher, policeman pay a higher rate of tax and some guy who owns three extra properties and sells one with 500k profit. He is just being asked to pay a higher rate on his gains it is income whether its an hourly salary or an investment. The rich have been coddled for far to long. Hard working Canadians deserve to own a home.

Unfortunately for my tenants and many others when I choose to dispose of property and/or purchase more, I will need to offset the capital gains tax with an increase in rent.
Invest in Housing; Dental care and Child care are 1st priority. Price on pollution to ask the wealthiest Canadian to pay for it.

I dont mind paying "a little more", but have you seen the price of gas lately? Have you shopped at grocery stores lately? The same opportunities to purchase a home that our parents had no longer exists. I get paying more now to have better later, but the cost of living now is just at a crazy level. The rebate cheque here and there isn't enough. I know its meant to offset the increased costs of literally everything, but does it? Does it? Frustrated to say the least.
Anytime we try and impose rules and regulations on the private sector the right comes calling saying we are destroying their way of life. Removing a carbon tax won't reduce the cost of living we are seeing now. Imposing stricter regulations on businesses will.

Think about it this way....When i have a investment property and my tenant doesn't pay me rent. I'd be forced to sell and pay the higher capital gains tax. But this 70 million dollar net worth Trudeau would not have to worry about selling his million dollars worth of cottage sitting empty. So who is exactly paying the higher capital gains tax?

I have 50K that I was thinking of investing. It's a measly amount, but why would I when the Government is after every dime I earn. Yes there are tax-free accounts but the Government will be after this in short order. Sometimes I think you are better off stuffing a mattress with money. My Investment advisors have ripped me off in the past.
