You find yourself increasingly making excuses for their behaviour and treatment of you and you don’t want people thinking you’re weak for being with someone like that so you hide it, you also don’t want people knowing because those that love you will give you the cold, hard truth which you don’t want to hear because that makes it real and when it’s real you have to do something about it when you’re just not strong enough.

The book "What Smart Women Know" by Steven Carter and Julia Sokol -- should be required to read before dating. Written in 1990, it was on the national best seller list and had i read it then- It would have changed my life, how i felt about myself & what I deserved & most importantly, I would have not only recognized early on the red flags.... (no matter how good some are at hiding them) .... I would have learned how to get out. It's an easy to read book, not filled with psychobabble, has many funny lines that help get through the pain and gives one liners that you can use the rest of your life & not just on romantic relationships- I use lines on the narcissist I work with (under my breath of course lol ) instead of trying to confront or change him- because that is just not going to happen. You learn extraordinary control where ordinarily you would be more emotional/yourself. Anything can trigger narcs and you're on eggshells all the time because you don't know when theyll get explosively verbally or physically abusive.

The best part of Sex In The City movie was warning women about this. My youngest Niece is pretty. She worked for a Dentist untill his wife came to take him out zo lunch. He fired her after lunch with the wife. My Niece was devastated. I told her Honey he's been dipping his wick in the office pool. It says more about him than her. She's a RN now. So it all worked out. My niece would not touch that guy with a ten-foot pole that's why she was so offended.

I'd have some sympathy for the b!tch if she hadn't been so opinionated trying to tell seasoned women what to do! She was barely out of high school and related more to Kim's daughter! I’ve been there too, self preservation is all you’ve got when you’re in an abusive relationship and if they won’t take care of and be nice to you, you’re all you have. You find yourself increasingly making excuses for their behaviour and treatment of you and you don’t want people thinking you’re weak for being with someone like that so you hide it, you also don’t want people knowing because those that love you will give you the cold, hard truth which you don’t want to hear because that makes it real and when it’s real you have to do something about it when you’re just not strong enough.

He can try and pretend he is the victim, but people are t dumb, and there was an entire season of him being really unpleasant to you that we all watched, (and cringed). The book "What Smart Women Know" by Steven Carter and Julia Sokol -- should be required to read before dating. Written in 1990, it was on the national best seller list and had i read it then- It would have changed my life, how i felt about myself & what I deserved & most importantly, I would have not only recognized early on the red flags.... (no matter how good some are at hiding them) .... I would have learned how to get out. It's an easy to read book, not filled with psychobabble, has many funny lines that help get through the pain and gives one liners that you can use the rest of your life & not just on romantic relationships- I use lines on the narcissist I work with (under my breath of course lol ) instead of trying to confront or change him- because that is just not going to happen. My wish for Meghan and all women- read this book or get it on audio. xo Pam, Kelli's mom

No meghan is an analyst type personality, she thinks things thru. Also, if you've ever been in a narcissistic relationship, you end up disassociating alot just to survive. You learn extraordinary control where ordinarily you would be more emotional/yourself. Anything can trigger narcs and you're on eggshells all the time because you don't know when theyll get explosively verbally or physically abusive.
I feel bad about everything Megan is going through! Also if Jim was a man he’d leave her the house taking away the house from her is taking it away from his kids too is he dumb and not realize that. Leave her the house if not for her for your kids who are affected by everything you do to their mom!
