So what? Putting aside Max, he still was clearly put in the best performance of any driver on the grid in 2023. He’s not at his peak and will be even less so in 2026, but in a dominant car, he’ll still easily win. It won’t be a gradual progression. There’s no reason AM shouldn’t be the fastest car on the grid in 2026. It’s not like they’re a team rebuilding.
He will be 45 mid way through the 26 season. He'll probably get 1 season in the new car before AM bring in a younger driver. Unless Stroll wants to make sure his son becomes World Champion (which has always been his aim till now) Then he'll keep Alonslow until he's 50.

This is true but the Merc engine in the initial V6 era was just unbelievable. No one could touch it. Newey can do a lot but not when the power unit is naff. So that's the question for 2026-onwards. Will the Aston-Honda PU be the McLaren 2014 one or will it be RBR 2021?

The most underrated thing about Adrian Newey is that... the best follow him. My Crack said in an interview that his door is always open to Max Verstappen and Max said "he wouldn't rule it out". Go back 12 months ago and that conversation wouldn't exist.
Dont forget that newey isn't god.. He has had a huge amount of success and experience but it's unrealistic to expect that a single person can suddenly hand over a winning car. It will take years, but they can be podium contenders.

To win a championship you need two great drivers. Adrian will no doubt attract top drivers. To that point the important and very obviously unasked question here is will Lawrence axe Lance. He will be under a lot of pressure from investors, sponsors, the team and Newey (partner) etc... to do just that and it will increase over time.
Newey has worked for three teams Williams, McLaren, and Red Bull. He has won many trophies, his success is unparalleled, however when he leaves a team they go from hero to zero. It takes years for these teams to recover.

It’s a huge deal with Newey at Aston. Also with Honda there it’ll be incredible to see where Aston go into the future. I think that their driver lineup is going to change by 2026. I don’t see both Stroll & Alonso staying. As I imagine either Alonso would retire or Lawrence would be convinced to swap Lance to win the championships. I think the most likely drivers to go to Aston would be Verstappen or Norris. Max because of Newey & Honda. And Lando because it seems like a perfect team for him that could be a team he can really build around himself and win with and also not have to think about battling with Oscar.
I'm not the biggest fan of Lance Stroll, but you might find he's much more impressive in a better car, and maybe a better attitude too if regularly on the podium instead of fighting for 10th.
Newey is by far, the factor in winning. He's won more titles than F1 drivers have. Stroll seems to be looking at building an Empire of a team. Newey, all the other tech people coming in, Alonso, possibly Max. It'll be more dominant than the Schumacher era.

Let's not forget 2000s when with same or little more budget McLaren didn't win any championships but instead it was James Allison at Ferrari who did, he was also the same guy who went to Renault and then infamous damper at the front and went on to win two championships. Adrian maybe the greatest designer mo doubt but James Allison is the greatest technical guru you will find there is a reason Aston Martin first offered him 30M£ each year before Mercedes locked him in for long term. If Newey really did get what he wanted "even if it was impossible budget-wise", that might explain some of RB's problems. Maybe some of his "innovations" were not quite kosher or outside of the budget cap?

Adrian newey didn't design that much of the actual car and floor or on the RB18/19 and now 20. Its actually Wache who is the teamlead not Newey. Fun part is that RB is having a problem with the locking of the suspension. Newey has spent most of his research time on the suspension. In fact he was one of the only people to work on the suspension in Red Bull so that he could prevent the porpoising and other issues that most teams had at the beginning of this new era. That area he worked on seems to be exactly the problem they are having right now... suspension locking over the curbs! Well if Newey did such a great job why is Perez 22 seconds behind? This British media. First praising Lewis to the stars and now its Newey getting all credits.

For all the adulation we hear about Newey, and he is undoubtedly brilliant, it was Mercedes who dominated F1 for years, not Red Bull. Having Newey in place is not a slam dunk key to success.
The only reason RB were so far behind Merc and Ferrari at times between 2014-2020 was the utterly underpowered and unreliable Renault PU from 14-2018 and even to some extend the Honda PU between 2019-2020 which was still massively inferior to the Merc PU. The second Honda got competitive with their PU for 2021 ( still inferior to the Merc PU but atleast close enough) they immediately challenged for championships.
Now all Aston needs is a replacement for Lance to be a serious championship capable team. Money from Stroll and Aramco, new factory and windtunnel, works deal with Honda, Newey, Fallows and other big names. It's all there, except for a solid second driver.
Well the person who really knows why Newey moved to Aston Martin is Newey himself Anything else is speculation, it’s interesting how the word of money comes up, not the actual skills of Newey!
So Aston have the best designer ever but, one thing I have witnessed in just about every person I have ever worked with is that with advancing years comes a deterioration of mental abilities no matter how small and g the new kids on the block will overtake him. A few years ago when Mercedes were dominating and RB were like 2, 3, or even 4th best on the grid, Adrian Newey was still the designer and they couldn't beat Mercedes. His track record is nearly flawless, when he has the resources and a competitive engine, more often than not he produces a championship car

It’s a huge deal with Newey at Aston. Also with Honda there it’ll be incredible to see where Aston go into the future.
I think that their driver lineup is going to change by 2026. I don’t see both Stroll & Alonso staying. As I imagine either Alonso would retire or Lawrence would be convinced to swap Lance to win the championships.
I think the most likely drivers to go to Aston would be Verstappen or Norris. Max because of Newey & Honda. And Lando because it seems like a perfect team for him that could be a team he can really build around himself and win with and also not have to think about battling with Oscar.
LOL Lance will stay until he wins a WDC (or at least has a decent chance to). This whole operation is geared towards the glory of father AND son..
I'm not the biggest fan of Lance Stroll, but you might find he's much more impressive in a better car, and maybe a better attitude too if regularly on the podium instead of fighting for 10th.
Newey is by far, the factor in winning. He's won more titles than F1 drivers have. Stroll seems to be looking at building an Empire of a team. Newey, all the other tech people coming in, Alonso, possibly Max. It'll be more dominant than the Schumacher era.
Newey worked at Red Bull years 2014 and only won in 2021. Him moving and his success depends on their engine mainly.
He won sod all in the '00s, from Hakkinen's car in '99 to Vetell's in '10.
Mclaren was often the fastest in the early 2000s but for reliability. Almost won 2000,2003,2005 and RB also in 2009 dont spew nonsense

Let's not forget 2000s when with same or little more budget McLaren didn't win any championships but instead it was James Allison at Ferrari who did, he was also the same guy who went to Renault and then infamous damper at the front and went on to win two championships.
Adrian maybe the greatest designer mo doubt but James Allison is the greatest technical guru you will find there is a reason Aston Martin first offered him 30M£ each year before Mercedes locked him in for long term.
Adrian's success hugely relies on getting the team he wants while James Allison can make it happen on his own and also Adrian isn't good with owners if you know you know.
This is a great movie for Aston Martin but if they don't have two great drivers it won't take long before Adrian just does hypercar projects although Aston Martin is now officially the dream team

Adrian newey didn't design that much of the actual car and floor or on the RB18/19 and now 20. Its actually Wache who is the teamlead not Newey. Fun part is that RB is having a problem with the locking of the suspension. Newey has spent most of his research time on the suspension. In fact he was one of the only people to work on the suspension in Red Bull so that he could prevent the porpoising and other issues that most teams had at the beginning of this new era. That area he worked on seems to be exactly the problem they are having right now... suspension locking over the curbs!

Andrian is particularly good at the start of new regulations. They could also pay in salary plus equity.

For all the adulation we hear about Newey, and he is undoubtedly brilliant, it was Mercedes who dominated F1 for years, not Red Bull. Having Newey in place is not a slam dunk key to success.

The only reason RB were so far behind Merc and Ferrari at times between 2014-2020 was the utterly underpowered and unreliable Renault PU from 14-2018 and even to some extend the Honda PU between 2019-2020 which was still massively inferior to the Merc PU.
The second Honda got competitive with their PU for 2021 ( still inferior to the Merc PU but atleast close enough) they immediately challenged for championships.

Now all Aston needs is a replacement for Lance to be a serious championship capable team. Money from Stroll and Aramco, new factory and windtunnel, works deal with Honda, Newey, Fallows and other big names. It's all there, except for a solid second driver.

So Aston have the best designer ever but, one thing I have witnessed in just about every person I have ever worked with is that with advancing years comes a deterioration of mental abilities no matter how small and g the new kids on the block will overtake him. Look at red bulls car recently. Would still love for Alonso to get another championship and in a Newey influenced car will be good.
And good Newey is calling out sky sports and his fellow brits for being toxily biased.
I think people are forgetting something.... A few years ago when Mercedes were dominating and RB were like 2, 3, or even 4th best on the grid, Adrian Newey was still the designer and they couldn't beat Mercedes.
