I am a retired RCMP Officer living in a rural setting in Nova Scotia, Canada. I spend my time enjoying nature and feeding my furry friends, the raccoons. I also feed the deer in the winter months and many varieties of birds. I have two rescue cats named Connor and Charlotte. This is my first time seeing this old man and his raccoons.
This old guy is crazy, I don't know anyone who would become the raccoon whisperer. But dog gonnit, I like this old man. I've never seen anyone have experience with raccoons like this, it is intriguing to say the least.
Also I feel bad about his neighbors cat, it's always sad when something like that happens.
He just feeds them, doesn’t dangle the food in front of them and make them wait, doesn’t ask them to do a trick, just hands the food to them. Thank you.

Have you seen those awful videos where the people put little monkeys in a brace that forces them to stand and walk on 2 legs? They put cute little dresses, etc to hide the brace and I'm sure they are punished if they don't "perform" properly. That is animal torture in my opinion!!! 🤬🤬🤬

I had a baby racoon as a pet long ago. I bottle fed him and bought special formula from vet for him. He quickly grew big. He was able to escape one day while I was at school.....probably is walking around on someone's head by now......

@elnubnub I didn't expect to get into a debate on utilitarianism in animal behaviors, and I for one am really glad all these raccoons have to do to "earn" their meal is be cute and dangle their little hands in the air to demand more carbs and proteins, I feel like most of us have done worse for the money required to buy our own foodstuffs... xD I was poking fun, cuz in my experience, wherever there's an abundance of free foods, the raccoon's trust is earned. I have ALWAYS taken the utmost care of the animals under my protection... even down to my tropical fish (Oscars are the 2nd most intelligent freshwater fish it turns out). But the raccoons have been my passion since I was 13 years old.... and not having them to take care of every day is like completely tearing me apart! I'm worried sick about them, where they are who has them and what will become of them if I can't get them returned! During the floods when other people were evacuating and leaving their dogs and horses to drown, I stayed HERE with my raccoons and monitored their habitats and the rising water by LED flashlight all night long with a life vest on and wire cutters in hand in case I needed to cut their habitats open and run them all up the trees in my yard (it never got above knee deep, but I didn't know if it would stop rising or not that 1st night of the 1st flood)! I slept on a yard chair under my carport for a full week just to make certain I would be here to take care of them every day (people who evacuated Plum Grove TX weren't allowed back in until after the water receded and the roads were cleared). This, is a total nightmare turned real for me and mine! I've now uploaded 2 of my raccoon's videos to UA-cam, also. They are short, but good.

He had a UA-cam channel called Ripped Pheonix he started his channel to show people even from the ICU you can follow your dreams. He believed in people doing what they love the most and sharing their joy and passion with others. Well, tonight our family was snuggled up together and we really enjoyed your video....we were laughing the whole time. I haven't seen my daughters laugh so much and see their eyes light up like they did tonight in 2 years! @@generaltso6914 he's been doing this for 20 years. Clearly they're well fed- they usually eat out of the garbage so this is at least fresh food. Grapes are one of raccoons favorite foods- the hot dogs are full of protein. He knows not to give them chocolate because he's been doing this for so long. The average life span of a raccoon is 3 years- where he lives it gets so cold they freeze to death without fattening up. These raccoons are living longer, happier lives than most- they are truly the lucky ones 🥰

That is actually an accurate description of what they think in fact. I experience much the same at my back door almost every night, there are about 30 of them that visit my yard nightly just to get a marsh mellow and fish the pond by my house (for fresh water muscles and minnows mostly). A developer recently destroyed all their wetland for his newest development next to my neighborhood, I'm trying to keep these animals going till I can figure out where to relocate to (me, and them.... but I have to get MY domestic raccoons back 1st that is my biggest priority right now!). chng.it/y9cZgrVY

I feed the local foxes and stray cats in England and I literally have to rip them either off me or off each other when the food first comes out. I wish we had racoons here 💕

Hey man it doesn't matter what you try to do in this world even if its something nice for animals people are gonna hate. Because those trolls have nothing better to do. And that's really sad. But I think that's really cool what you are doing for them.
Looks like the raccoons do just what children do, break the cookie apart & eat the center first!
