I had social anxiety. Well, I still do. I can largely manage it. Beyond the meds, it requires acceptance of your disability, belief that you can compensate for it to your best, and the strength to just frickin do it. And I am lucky, it’s no guarantee, but it got me there. Just sayin.

I am awkward and weird. I have an absolutely wonderful bestfriend who saves me from these conversations with strangers. At a dinner someone complimented me on something I was wearing to which I replied "Thank you! It smells weird". To which my dear friend agreed with me and said "I get it, sometimes jewelry can smell rusted". Making us both look like weirdos. In this case I am the one who says the first thing she thinks of and has no clue how to respond in socially acceptable ways. I have also had a conversation about the weather that turned into me divulging that my rabbit was sweating..... Conversation is an art, and it's lost on me. That is all.
I love you dearly, this was awkward and weird.
I had the exact same conversation you had at mcdonald's but with a guy that was selling corn cobs. Can't remember word for word but that went like this:
- hi can I have two corn cobs with butter salt and pepper please :)
- do you want butter salt and pepper?
- yes please
- ok ok so corn cosb with pepper
- um yes but with butter and salt
- oh so butter and salt corn cob?
- no I want butter salt and pepper
- just salt?
- no butter salt and pepper
- pepper and salt?
- no I want butter salt and pepper
- butter salt and pepper?
....
Anyway I eventually had my corn cobs with butter salt and pepper!

Abbie Christopherson I beg to differ! When you're accustomed to being an introvert, you're used to holding convos with a close circle of people, with people you barely know it's like how do you even start or even end a convo when you're not even used to holding conversations.
Your socially awkward ( this is having trouble with talking with people) being an introvert means social interaction is more draining and you prefer to be alone but social interactions aren't difficult

I work in retail and people just don't listen. They start talking when you stop talking but they didn't actually listen to what you said so it makes no sense.

I purchased a movie ticket online for a show that eventually sold out.
I go to the theatre and walk up to the usher with me ticket on my cell phone.
Usher: Hi. *looks at phone* Oh sorry, that show is sold out. But you can see something else.
Me: But I already purchased a ticket. It’s an e-ticket on my phone. It just needs to be scanned.
Usher: You aren’t hearing me. That show is SOLD out. Please chose another.
Me: I’m confused. It is sold out because people bought all the tickets. I am showing you my ticket.
Usher: Yes. But your ticket doesn’t count.
Me: But I paid for it. Right?
Usher: Right. But it is sold out.
Me: Because of people like me who bought a ticket.
Usher: Yes.
Me: So can I see the movie since I bought a ticket?
