  • I'm okay. I'm mostly just very frustrated that my body isn't reacting well to the pregnancy. Can't wait to meet this little cutie though!

It's not complaining, it's important. I'm always shocked how little we as women are told about the realities of pregnancy - like you said, it's usually motion sickness, getting a bump, and the miracle of life. No one talks about the constipation or the acne. So when women have scary things happen when they're pregnant, a lot of times they assume it's normal, like you assumed fainting was, when in reality that's a dangerous symptom. Talking (or "complaining") about the less photogenic aspects of pregnancy is important to keep everyone safe and healthy. Thanks for being so open and honest.

Liz, she may not know. Saying "other people have it worse than I do" is literally the reason it took me YEARS to seek help for my mood disorder. Years. No joke. It finally took a friend of mine saying something similar to what I said for me to get the help I needed. Not everyone knows that their struggles are worthy of help, so there's no harm in someone else reiterating the fact.

I had a miscarriage in February, and I would have been due this month (I probably would have already given birth at this point). But watching these videos of Colleen’s pregnancy warms my heart. I’m so happy she gets to experience this, and it’s completely fine to be upset. It’s completely fine to be frustrated at the pain you’re in, or frustrated that things aren’t going to plan. I’m not upset that she’s pregnant and I’m not. I know she’s not saying these things to complain, she’s being real.
But Colleen, you’re doing amazing. You’re already so caring, nurturing, and maternal. This little boy will be so well cared for and loved. You deserve to take a break and let your body rest. You’re creating another life, and you have to put him first. I hope you stay well and rest.

Gestational hypertension, hemorrhoids, sciatica pain, injured esophagus from vomiting so much :( it sucks feeling like you can’t be as happy and excited as you’re “supposed “ to because you’re having such a hard time. I am so sorry you're going through this. Bed rest girl... please go on bed rest. It is the ONLY thing that will help. This is a common thing! There is no pass or fail when it comes to pregnancy. Some bodies can tolerate it and some bodies cant. I had a pain free third pregnancy if that give you any hope. Hey Colleen, the likelihood of you reading and/or seeing this is slim to none, but I hope you do. When my mom was pregnant with me, she was having the same conditions you are having now with your little cutie. She was passing out ALL the time also having low blood pressure. She did the same as you and went in for a stress test, EKG, etc. However, at the time they did not find anything. Fast forward to when I was 5, my mom was diagnosed with a heart condition. She underwent heart surgery and she is all fixed now. They tested me, they said I was fine. Unfortunately, five years later I was diagnosed with an Atrial Septal Defect with an Sinus Venosus and had to undergo open heart surgery asap. I guess my point to this comment is that the heart is tricky and extremely complicated. Don't have just one test done. If you can (and I don't know your medical history or anything), try to have multiple tests and echocardiograms done. I just mainly want you and your new family to be completely okay.
I hope everything gets better! Keep us updated when you can and when you feel like it. Take time for you and your family.

    • @ashleydavis4563
      @ashleydavis4563 4 роки тому +1

@@meganalaura6641 That sounds like low blood pressure issues. I was also anemic with my pregnancies and didn't have those symptoms but if it is severe it could cause dizziness and black outs. Everyone is different. I would check your blood pressure, if thats fine then maybe check your iron. You can always take a slow fe iron pill with or without anemia, it will only help the pregnancy. You can also take a prenatal with iron in it to help as well. Hope that helps!

Omg colleen please don't feel bad about anything. You have every right to talk and "complain" about the problems you have with pregnancy. It's hard! It's probably the hardest thing a woman ever has to do and no one talks about it. I'm so glad that you're brave enough to say these things because they're things that I never even considered. And it's nice to know that if something like that ever happens to me, I know I'm not the only one. Like how you said you feel guilty and sad cause you see everyone else having a great pregnancy and you're not... I wonder if you wouldn't feel that way if more people talked about it. You're strong. You've got this! Just try to remember that nothing is your fault. You're doing everything you can for that baby. Some people handle certain situations better than others, this is no different. It has nothing to do with your mind, just the way your body is reacting and that's okay. Stay strong girl

The saddest part of this is that she feels like she has to defend her pain and her honesty. Like, she has to put disclaimers on EVERYTHING! "I know I don't have it as bad as everyone," "I know not everyone has it like this," and "This is just me being honest." Like, haters, why can't she just behest and tell us about how she is doing without having to defend her being in pain to every douchebag with a keyboard. Colleen, I love you, and support you, and you don't have to defend your pain and what you're going through. Some of it is normal, some of it isn't, and I think it's so great and so commendable that you talk about this, it's so important! Like, people keep telling you to shut up because of women who have it worse or women who can't get pregnant. What they don't get is that there are soooooo many women for whom you are probably super important, because whether they have it a little bit better that you, but worse than the perfect pregnancy everyone talks about, or they have it worse than you, you're right: No one else tells this truth, and this truth is important!! You sharing your story, shows women everywhere that it's okay to not have a good and perfect pregnancy, and that it doesn't make them a failure (it doesn't make you one either, btw), and that it doesn't make them any less of a mother or a person, and doesn't diminish their love for their child. So, THANK YOU, Colleen, for defending these problems, so that dozens of women don't have to do it by themselves!!

Colleen, you HAVE to stop being so hard on yourself! You are NOT failing at carrying your baby. A woman only has so much control over her pregnancy. You clearly love your son and are doing the absolute best you can. There are things that you cannot control, and those things do not make you ANY less of an amazing mom or an amazing carrier of your baby. Stay strong, girl. Three months left! 💪

My first pregnancy was sooo smooth, no issues, i was induced and had an epidural, slept through a 25 hour labor and I had a beautiful almost 9 lb baby boy. My second pregnancy, it was so hard to eat I was constantly puking but always hungry, I lost ten lbs right away, headaches all the time my pelvis hurt and felt stretched always. I got induced, got an epidural that did not work, had a painful 8 hour labor and I had a small 7 lb baby girl. So every pregnancy is different EVEN IN THE SAME WOMAN

First of all it is NEVER okay for anyone to shame you for complaining about your pregnancy. I am a nurse and used to work on a Maternity floor and took care of pregnant women who had to spend months in the hospital prior to delivery because they were so sick. Pregnancy is a big deal, and what your going through is not normal, and it is okay to complain. Your body is going through hell just so you can create a new life. Be proud of what your body is doing because you are growing a tiny human. Second, before you know it this beautiful boy of yours will be in your arms and all these trials will be all worth it. You've got this! I will however keep you in my prayers for a much smoother and healthier pregnancy.

I have no idea if you will ever even read this. But I have 3 kids and being pregnant was rough and painful. The BEST thing for the Pubic and tailbone and hip pain is sitting on a big yoga ball, and just roll your hips around. I stayed on that thing for months..and Very warm baths 😉 I always have low blood pressure too.. so i blacked out a lot. Dont panic after the baby is born and they get worried about the low blood pressure..(blood loss)😁 It will come back up. You don't have much longer!!! You can do it!👍 And before you know it you'll be doing it again😂 I hope it gets better for you... But I've been there and NEVER did really until the last month then I turn into a crazy mom on meth cleaning. Yay. Babies!lol

I am SO EXTREMELY thankful to you for talking about your experience with pelvic pain. I feel like I’m exaggerating or like a wimp because I’m in so much pain in my hips and pelvic bone... I just talked to one of the doctors (at my office they cycle through them all so you can meet them all before delivery), who happened to be a man, about the extreme pain I was feeling. He said it was most likely due to my posture.... I felt so overlooked and dismissed, especially because I was asking for tips on how to relieve or work with the pain, and it seemed like he was belittling my pain. Like you, it hurts to do almost anything. I’m only 21 weeks and sometimes I get used to the pain, and other times I can’t go up and down the stairs...
Thank you so much for sharing all of these vlogs for us to go through, but also for me to remember that I’m not alone, I’m not being a baby, and my pain is valid. I appreciate you SO FREAKING MUCH.

PLEASE contact your doctor and discuss something called POTS ( Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome) I myself have pots and everything you’ve just spoke about is exactly what happens to me! Fainting, salt intake, low Blood pressure, etc! Pots doesn’t really show up on blood tests or ECGs, the way I was tested was with a simple test of sitting and standing there was no need for a tilt table test because my form of pots is a lot worse than others that tend to have it. Every time I would stand I’d faint or if I walked too much, I couldn’t sleep at all, constantly in and out of hospitals etc. I am now on medication to calm down the fainting. Pots can be triggered by many things really being pregnant could be one of the triggers. Mine occurred because my body was so run down after having glandular fever! Which caused so many more health issues.
POTS is never really spoken about especially from where I am anyway, a lot of doctors either didn’t know about it or they just got the diagnosis wrong for many people. There definitely needs to be more awareness for this condition.
Believe it or not this is the most simplified way I could write this without making it into a whole essay😂

PLEASE READ THIS COLLEEN. I am in my twenties and I have 2 kids. The first one was an easy beautiful pregnancy the second one almost broke me emotionally and physically. What you have sounds a lot like SPD (symphisis pubis dysfunction). It hurts to walk, sit, stand, roll in bed, stand on one leg to get pants/shoes on. Do Not Let Your Doctor Tell You Its Nothing And You Can't Help It! I almost had to gets c section and wear a back brace to be able to walk post pregnancy. The chiropractor will feel your hips and pubis bone and try to realign you and girl the exercises they give you HURT but do them! There is so much advice I have for you I wish I could just call you omg. My 2nd pregnancy was exactly like this and worse.. Please take care of yourself and force your doctor to listen. So many pregnant women struggle with doctors writing off serious problems and saying you can't do anything. I love you get well! ( btw im on my fiancé account my names micaela loll)

Melissa Haile sorry to hear that! Mine started around 6 as just an irritation and within a few weeks I was on the grocery store floor sobbing that I couldn't take another step. I had been told several times by actual doctors that it was just a "normal part of pregnancy" and received no help. When I finally saw a PT he said it was so bad I needed to come in 3 times a week and sleep with a brace on. If we had caught it earlier on it wouldn't have gotten so severe but now im 6 months post partum and I still have to have appointments with my PT and there's a chance I might never walk the same as I used to. Its a very serious thing regardless how "common" it is. Im so glad you are doing well now, bless you!

It’s such a long process but then you have this amazing life in the end. But I hope Colleen does a lot of research and learns about everything that can happen during, before and after. I love how candid you are. We're all faced with pain at times that can be scary, whether pregnant or not, and I don't think anyone with empathy would ever judge you for it. What you're going through is very emotional too because it's your first pregnancy and you had no idea what to expect, and now what you're going through is worse than average. It's amazing how strong you are through it. I've never been pregnant but I've heard from others that as soon as the the baby is born a mother is filled with a sense of euphoria and immediately forgets all the pain she was in during labor. I know you're looking forward to that and have so many more blessings ahead. The pain has been more intense, so I'm sure the joy will be too. You are loved by so many. I'm definitely excited for you. You have so much love in your heart for this child, which is evident. I hope these final months pass more quickly for you. Enjoy the holiday season. Spend time with family. UA-cam will always be here for you, even if you're away for a couple months. You deserve time to focus on your health & comfort. You rock!

Colleen, don’t you even DARE to feel bad about anything! This is your body, your baby and your life. Yes some women are sadly unlucky and aren’t able to get pregnant or deliver successfully but you’re in pain. This is your first baby and you are clearly in love with him but you’re also struggling. Your body hasn’t ever experienced anything like what it’s experiencing right now I mean GURL, YOURE GROWING A TINY HUMAN INSIDE OF YOU!! I had the fact you’re feeling so miserable during such a fascinating time but once he’s alive and breathing in the world and you can hold him in your arms, the pain and sickness and miserable feelings will completely disappear and you can spend the rest of your life without the pain and just being completely in love with your family. We love you Colleen, and we support everything you do, even if it is a video of you eating in and out at 3 am crying! Stay safe and look after yourself kween ❤️❤️

I’m so glad you are talking about REAL pregnancy issues. I’ve had 3 babies and NONE of my pregnancies were fun or enjoyable. I HATED being pregnant but of course 100% LOVE my babies and would do it for them a million times over. But, not everyone has easy enjoyable pregnancies. I was always jealous of those that did 😂 praying the rest of your journey will be easier!!!

This sounds a LOT like POTS or another form of dysautonomia. Especially with the very low BP. Is your HR increasing more than 30 BPM when you stand? *_I literally never ask for likes on a comment, but PLEASE try to bump this up so she sees this. If she has dysautonomia and is diagnosed, the proper treatment plan could make a whole world of difference._* POTS can sometimes pop up during pregnancy. My POTS flares, when I have syncope episodes where I don’t lose consciousness completely, are a lot like you described. My hearing goes, things go white, I’m extremely nauseous (don’t throw up because my G tube is usually draining), I’m like 90% gone but not completely unconscious and yeah, it’s really rough. I have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, which caused the POTS (hence the port), and it also caused gastroparesis (hence the J and G tubes and being NPO), and Mast Cell Activation Disorder (lots of fun there..) so there could be a root cause it’s co-morbid with, EDS is common, but there’s others. You mentioned your pelvis. Pelvic floor dysfunction, SI joint subluxation/dislocation- all extremely common with EDS. Some women find out about Ehlers-Danlos during pregnancy because of all the physical changes, just like some people find out about it after an injury because their body deteriorates instead of healing. It could just be POTS on its own, definitely possible. Then again, it could be a minor BP issue from pregnancy imbalances, definitely possible. But I feel SO inclined to tell you this, POTS flares are so miserable and treatment could help so much! More hydration and a higher salt intake are actually some of the first steps for POTS treatment, so I wonder if they’re already considering that. (That’s why I get a liter of IV saline via port daily.) Please bring this up as a possibility to your doctor. I know messaging you won’t help, I can’t imagine how many messages you get, so I really hope you see this. Take care Colleen, I can’t imagine carrying a baby and being so sick on top of it. Sending lots of good vibes. ✨✨✨

I have POTS and I was thinking the same the because I will just lay down, everything will go black and I will start crying and sometimes vomit too so I understand what Colleen is going through (except for the fact that she is carrying a baby inside her). AND if she does have POTS her kid might have it because it passes through the mom's Gene's (no pressure on her because it is not her fault) but I hope it is just a pregnancy thing.

Girl I feel you. I had the WORRRSSSTT pelvic pain/round ligament pain throughout my pregnancy. All of the things that you mentioned - putting on pants, turning over in bed, just getting out of bed, etc. - were also so hard for me. The fact that there’s nothing we can do for it is so frustrating, and the whole “it really just gets worse” response is BEYOND disheartening. But my little girl was born 8 days ago (the fact that she slept through this whole video and typing out the comment is an actual miracle) and I would do it all again for her. Stay strong, mama.

Women don't talk about how hard it is to be pregnant because people will try to make you feel guilty for not being ecstatic every moment of the process. The process hurts. You are completely sacrificing yourself to bring this little human into the world safely. It hurts because physically and mentally, you are being molded into a mommy. Your little man is shaping you into his mommy right now. You are gonna be a great mom honey. Just keep your chin up cause when you see him, I promise, all this pain will be just a memory.

Have you heard of POTS syndrome? My sister has it, basically her heart rate increases over 25 bpm whenever she stands up and fainting is very common as well. Not sure you have it but I think you can get it when you're going through a lot of stress or some kind of physical trauma(including pregnancy). My sister got it after her second pregnancy and she was having all kinds of stomach problems. Salt intake is important as well as drinking a lot of water!! I really hope you see this because none of her doctors even knew what POTS was and they all said everything looked normal even though my sister had no energy, and could barely stand up without feeling like she was going to faint.

I just want to thank you for being so transparent and open about your pregnancy experience, because you were absolutely right when you said that most of what we hear of pregnancy experiences is discomfort and morning sickness. Unfortunately, for A LOT of women, it’s way worse than that, but there is this weird stigma where we’re just expected to be these magical, happy, healthy child-bearing goddesses, not achy, sick hormone monsters. I think if we have a lot more realistic conversations about the realities of pregnancy, women won’t feel quite as much pressure to have movie-quality experiences and get down on themselves, ya know? Pregnancy is hard enough without pressure to be the perfect picture of tranquility and health. So thank you for using your platform to be honest and real and emotional. Will be praying for your health and strength!! Get all the rest you need, and be gentle to yourself. ❤️

I had three kids and hated being pregnant. It was miserable every single day. Pure misery. BUT totally worth it. Obviously, I did it three times! My body didn’t like being pregnant at all. Not liking being pregnant doesn’t mean you don’t love your baby. I struggled to get pregnant and still complained about being pregnant. For me it was a means to an end. Babies are miracles and we suffer and it’s worth it. It does end and I literally felt instantly better when my babies came out. And then postpartum recovery is rough but just get through this first. 😉 When you feel down and in pain close your eyes and imagine holding your baby and singing to him. He will be the most wonderful thing to ever happen to you. Ever.

this sounds EXACTLY like Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) PLEASE look into it Colleen, it’s like a textbook case. And another condition that comes along with it a lot is called Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, which causes a lot of joint and ligament pain due to hypermobility. Maybe look into Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (EDS). I have this, and while I’ve never been pregnant I know it can cause a whole slew of things with pregnancy and life in general. Basically it’s a connective tissue disorder where your body doesn’t hold itself together properly. Which could maybe explain your pelvic bone issue. Also many people who have EDS also have postural orthostatic tachycardia (POTS) which could maybe explain the fainting. Women with EDS can also experience more severe symptoms during pregnancy than other women. There are many different types of EDS, and it actually pretty common and extremely under diagnosed because many people, Including doctors, don’t know what it is. I know it sounds scary but it’s actually not too bad. (For me anyway) I don’t know if this is what you have but it might be worth looking into. Please like so she can see!
