This 77 metre throw was performed by Kim Kyu Tae (South Korea), with the support of Shin Moo Joon (South Korea) and Chee Yie Jian (Malaysia) in Daegu, Gyeongsangbuk-do, South Korea earlier this year.
The design of their airplane is very secretive, however the record holders do plan to release a book later in the year on how to make the best paper flight craft possible!

the real reason the wright brothers invented modern flying:
Yes
Ah, I remember how happy John Collins was when he made the record, 10 years back on 26th Feb, 2012...
You all betrayed him, lol.
Just kidding, its unbelievable that, that limit is not the farthest one now!
Looking forward to see more interesting Paper aircraft designs!
There was an indian guy who made a working flying machine before the brothers did

NO WAAAAYY! It's pretty impressive that he was able to get it that far tbh! Who would've thought that one could throw a paper aeroplane so far!
Jayson Merrill has thrown his newest design 518 feet already, which is more than double this.
As a kid with not a lot of toys to play with, paper airplanes became an outlet for me...
And this record really brightened my day.
paper airplanes were better than any toy growing up
I completely agree !!!
Paper airplane throwing should be an actual sport.
agreed
Well, Red Bull holds an international competition every 3 years

It is
Secret airplane paper, perfect accuracy and best shot. I guess Korea has first furthest paper airplane. This is awesome.
Paper is known. Mentioned in the article
This guy is so talented, he could beat an F-35 with that thing.
Very uneducated comment
@@-abhi uncultured reply
@@-abhi I can agree that the joke is not funny but there's no need to take it serious
Ha, now try Jason Merril's F-35
The guy must have had a steady and strong arm to throw that far, dang
It is a combined efforts I guess. The design itself, the folding skills, and the throwing skills.
Oh no!
John Collins record of his Suzanne which flew 70 metres, stayed for 10 years and 2 months!
The history has been changed!
It may not be a big deal for common people, but, a huge news for us Paper aircraft designers!!!
IKR
Is it a new design? It looks very similar
@@Yxzjvc Yeah it does, but it must be a different one as it is not possible for a record to be set by the same design and another attempting person.
It looks almost the same because such long distance flight paper planes have broad and wider wings to travel long distances as they are both Darts and Gliders!
It’s definitely the same fold, just slightly altered
@@Leatherface123. nope, not in the slightest.

That is me😂
I am Shin who is the founder of ShinKimChee trio. Also 11 years experienced paper airplane veteran. I was shared the chee's glider exclusively then I have enchanted this Chee's glider into world best one for 3years. This means only i can handle world record plane correctly. There are some magical trick not just folding and trimming but more. this trick should be acompanied with full throwing test not just on your desk. Though this video just features throwing and flight only, there are tremendous considerarion I should had to underlying this event. I devoted whole 5 months just preparing and summarizing the event gathering and persuading team mate , sponser and even rigrous guinness record manager. They all said diffrent thing to me. In fact I was also able to achieve this record alone. The plane was fold and adjusted by me and even i threw 78m in practice flight 3 month ago in the same venue and also threw 74m the day of attempt. But I had to share the role. Because Guinness word record attempt requires lot. Things were too complex to control the event and application and evidence proofing and financing while dizzy working as semiconductor engineer. I was not able to make plenty body and mental management for 100% probability success of the event.I prepared 24 paper airplanes which takes 1 hours to fold. Even the day of attempt I was busy drawing the 70m and 75m arc line with tapes and explaining guideline to witness and surveyor and giving guide to thrower. Why I did it too hurry? I was almost chased to here to give message to brutal korean paper airplane community's copycat works. They almost copied our glider via my previous flights. I was severly harassed through these copycat. So I included original designer chee into the team. Many thanks to the sponser who gave financial and procedual assistance and gwr makes our attempt much glistening and thank you for my team mates enduring hard times with me.
The reason I wrote this is that things you see is not whole. But GWR only takes only thrower into record holder so sad thing.
Congratulations, your team is incredible. I love making paper airplanes too but this is another level. Hope the competition doesn't take any criminal action against your record and team. Your story is eye opening to hear of the politics involved in securing a world record for flying paper airplanes. Best of luck in the next record attempt.
thank you for congruatations. This event was Feirce , strategic stripe rather than brilliant accomplishment for me. This was partially due to my nervous and wrong decision. But it is ok , the initial goal placing gwr certificate on my desk is done.

It’s honestly very amazing that the paper plane was able to make such a great distance! Great effort by the man who threw the paper plane and the paper plane itself! 😁
Once when i was a kid, i threw a paper airplane outside that never came back down. I know it found some wind current, but i will never forget it.
Now that's a nostalgic memory.
Brought here from the NPR politics podcast! This is one of the most impressive things I’ve seen in recent history
papers from my note too have covered long distances..back in my highschool years, i would write letters to my grandpa 1410 kilometers away from me
Yup ! That’s our team and I’m the designer of the glider ! Check out the test flights on my channel.
Thanks Guinness for posting this

Tahniah bro.
Pls tell us the design
When you will publish the tutorial?
I really wish we knew how to make this but this is a really amazing achievement
Go to a channel named foldable flight, then search for new world record paper airplane
Before Playstation, Xbox, Nintendo, Sega, Atari, ColecoVision, and pong.... and Table football, there was PAPER AIRPLANES!!!
PLS SHOW US HOW THEY BUILT IT
I worked in a Kindergarten and the kids used come everyday to me because they wanted to fold a paper plane. It's so simple yet so impressive what you can do with it. This record is just breathtaking!
I never ever wanted an autograph from anyone but I would really love to have a signed paper plane from these guys.
Craziest thing I've seen all day
Reveal the folding😂
i wonder how his schoolmates felt when they saw a paper plane flying one to the other side of the school
Ok ive seen the thumbnail. If it was the same on the video i know how to make it
... or so i think so.
Basically the first step of every paperplane
1 make a pointy stuff.
2 fold the BOTTOM of the pointy stuff. The tip should be pointing down now.
3 tear small squares or a L to the top left and right corner. It gonna be useful later.
4 make point again by folding the tear square to the previous pointy. Fold it TIGHT and use the previous point to lock it in. Grab the tip, and fold it upwards ON the L or rectangular hole.
5 put the whole paper upsidedown. So there should be NO holes or any stuff on the back. Now make the wings. Fold it neatly like a basic paperplane.
Ok i just found out theres no hole. But you can shorten the first pointy stuff making a gap so you can still do the step 4
His teachers must have been so mad at his skills to send notes to friends 😂
Bro the paper air planes I make don’t even fly they just go straight down
same we take the L
This should be a professional sport. It is more interesting than powerwalking or rowing or many other sports they put on ESPN
They blurred out the plane design lol.
I'm a paperplane designer, this paper airplane is a combination of 3 people that made an incredible work, Julian Chee @Julian Chee AERO designed the prototype and Shin moo joon @m1a2tank modified the original plane very very well. Kim @ThrowerKim was the thrower, he is pretty impressive.
This plane has large wing and short fuselage, that helps the glider to producing lift.
Can I get the plan somewhere?
@@antonmaier2263 anton this is a little secret but i found a similar, very similar design....
@@Gioele_Zanelli can you tell me the name of the design?
@@egg3249 the world record is cheetah
@@Gioele_Zanelli Thanks
Bruh, that plane isn’t even his original design, that is a stolen design from the last world record that happened like 4 years ago. Honestly, that is not impressive at all, and this guy even had to use tape! Imo this guy should be disqualified. He does NOT deserve the name of a world record holder.
I learned how to make a paper airplane in 1980's, and they would fly astonishingly well.
do u have a tutorial to ur paper airplane?
My paper airplane record is 107 meters.
It has a 3D airfoil and is aerodynamically correct,
and
the folding is such that it balances correctly.
Wingspan = 150mm
Wing Area = 15625mm2
Aspect ratio = 1.44
The wings are basically "dual panel" wings, for the sake of calculations.
Any comments?
one day my name is Will be in the Guinness Book of World Records
Guinness world records be like:NOTHING IS INPOSIBBLE!
I swear on everything i love i threw a paper plane that didnt come back down, that thing dissapeared into the sunset

I’m not claiming to have any particular paper airplane skill but I’ve once thrown a paper airplane that went Atleast 5 times further than any of these throws I’m not sure how it happened or how to replicate it but it just wouldn’t stop climbing
“I’m not sure how it happened”
Um...wind?
@@VeritableSmorgasbord wow let’s get this guy a Nobel prize in physics!
I mean I’m not sure what I did in relation to the wind. Or why the wind effected the plane the way it did. People throw paper planes into the wind everyday. I’m pretty sure they rarely fly as high far and long as mine did that day
OMG 😱
How is it possible 😭⁉️
When I tried it never went in the air it dropped down 😢😅
Extraordinary peoples, very impressive ‼️😇🫡🪄
When can we see a tutorial for this plane? Or will it not be shared? The folding was blurred out so... :(

This is better than that new one. You can't even see it fly. This one looks fun!
Kind of crazy how it essentially looks like he’s throwing a Hail Mary pass in American Football
🤣👍
Omg imagine if the guy measuring accidentally blocked it since he went after it before it actually landed
Kudos to the designer!
How to make this plane? What was the previous record?
That is very impressive
No no if he make little big I will travel America to Africa 😂😂😂
Congrats! So much hard work to make these fickle materials behave as high performance aerospace components.
Why did you have to blur the most important scene that why i came here to watch!???
When ya can't decide if you want to say farthest or furthest, ya just say both.

The record which I always thought I could break(in my childhood)
Insane thing I had seen in my life ✨🤟
Didn't know this "sport" exist. But once you know the secret, wouldn't all competitors pretty much get in the same range? Perhaps there is the THROWING skill aspect involved too.
yes or no. Think about former record holder john collins. Though he revealed his design 8 years ago, no one beated the record. But thanks to chee yie jian's novel design we could reach the record through years of practice and months of preparations.
Nice
Ohh dude that is just brilliant 💥
Trying to comment but I see channel guidelines
Why blur out the folding?
Someday Jayson Merrill will be here
He design instant glider that fly 518 feet

Why did they blur off the plane when the guy disassembled it
Look for this sport on ESPN soon. 🏆
I think making the plane is more important than how strong you throw
