The silver bowl with a he scalloped edge is called a "monteith" filled with ice water & wine glasses hooked to the scallops to cool them! Great idea to fill antiques with great scented candles!
Brilliant idea! Shape is everything it seems. One could start new Christmas or Diwali traditions. One would have to ensure that the vessel wasn’t porous if later intended for food. The perfume residue might taint cookies etc .
Good point about porous materials. Cracked pottery and porcelain would definitely take on the fragrance. Then again, these are best not to use for food service once they are crazed.
@@LadyMaryBeth very true. I was thinking about an earthenware pot I own. Looks like it would be a good candidate but the glaze isn’t watertight. Strange.
That English bowl looks Gaudy Welsh/Dutch pattern, but yes, influenced by Imari, beautiful things, good idea to do as remembrance of Granny and they might actually use it.😂
Dear Lady Mary Beth, I still enjoy your segments very much. Would you consider doing a segment specifically about Christmas Decorations? Maybe show us your collection? Kindest regards from New Zealand
And I love watching this video, I had forgotten about making candles. And I think I will make one for a friend. And you are looking fantastic as usual.
Oh LMB what an enjoyable armchair shop that was, and what a wonderful way to use our items as candles I have never seen that done before, you really made me laugh when you had the Santa “larger than a Buick” wasn’t he a smasher, I liked your three outfits as well. Thank you for this entertaining and different experience and as always best wishes from UK. p.s. the wooden biscuit barrel was a staple in our homes when growing up. ❤
Such a nice store. The owner shared a beautiful story of how she made remembrances for the family members. Exquisite pieces. I think you are right, it’s a good way to pass down pieces to the younger generation that they will actually use and enjoy.
Lately I've been playing with candle making, it's so much fun to do , but I would like to learn on what is the best combination of wax , the wick to use., I will appreciate any information, thank you for sharing as always you bring the best .
What a beautiful store, thank you for inviting us along with you as you show the great ideas for using found treasures for new purposes. I really enjoyed this video, take good care until next time.
What a unique way of repurposing antiques, I like that idea. Thank you for taking us along with you to see this store and all the lovely items for sale. Hopefully more young people will see the beauty in these treasures. Thank you for making my Sunday 😊
Please let people know that when burning a large candle always make sure on the first burn to make sure the wax is melted all the way across the candle before blowing it out. If you do not you will end up with the candle continuing to burn straight down from where the melt stopped from that point on and you will struggle with drowning your wick.
I have made candles in glass dishes for gifts in the past, it works well. And you are reusing something that is beautiful. That may have been put in the bin. And is so easy to make, if you are on a budget, cheap to make your self, just be careful the wax is hot.
What a super idea , a beautiful shop , you never let us down taking us to all these different stores giving us used for things we have but don't know what to do with instead of leaving in a cupboard.x
I ADORE these candles!! Lady Mary Beth, do you happen to know, what kind of wax they use for their candle making and if it burns clean? Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful shop with us today!! It’s so lovely!! 💝
From their website: Each of our candles is created in antique and one of a kind vessels. Filled with a proprietary wax blend, cotton wicks and unmatched fragrance. Bella's Candles also delights in filling your special container from your personal collection.
Such a beautiful video. I loved seeing all the beautiful candle holders on sale in this enchanting shop. I was also impressed by the Christmas trees made from ornaments figurines and other adornments. I wish you had elaborated on some of them. Thanks for getting us in the Christmas spirit!!!
I wonder if the candle flame will show through the china. Hopefully they won't crack from the heat. How do you know if it's heat and hot liquid resistant?
As with any candle, do not allow to burn within one inch of the china or crystal. Waterford puts a sticker on all candleholders with this caution warning.
I agree that they aren’t ruined at all. Plus, they are being used unlike so many “treasures” which people put deep in their cupboards because “they are too good to use” thus they are never enjoyed by anyone.@@LadyMaryBeth
Stupid use for nice silver items, not to mention way over priced. And hard on the items and to cleanup after you've burned the candle. To much brainwave ideas and not much common sense. Oh beth mary lady wake-up.
Thank you Lady Mary Beth! I love these candles and a great idea for using vintage containers, etc. You always visit the neatest places!!
You chose some beautiful vessels in which to have hand poured candles made!
Love this idea! ❤❤❤

You have found some great items at your local antique markets.
Loved this video! One of my favorites! What a great idea for the younger generation - as they don’t really appreciate these things like we do.

So true! The candle must "make a memory" for an even wax melt.

I wonder if the heat from the flame would crack or break some of the glass?
Will the candle wax affect the interior of the Wedgewood Cache Pot? Will the wax absorb into the porous bisque?
Mine is unaffected by the wax.
Can you use the vessel after the candle is finished
Absolutely! Vessels can be used for candles and then cleaned for another purpose.
I wonder if the candle flame will show through the china. Hopefully they won't crack from the heat. How do you know if it's heat and hot liquid resistant?
As with any candle, do not allow to burn within one inch of the china or crystal. Waterford puts a sticker on all candleholders with this caution warning.
Thanks for this great advice. I just got some Colleen candlesticks and was wondering if it was safe to use!
Oh my gosh, ruined beautiful pieces by putting wax in them, ugh 😫
Not ruined, just a temporary use.
