Poor mermaids, they don't get hot chocolate! Seaweed tea, maybe. Yuck! So what is your favorite brand of hot chocolate? I like Stephen's and other ones I can't afford. Do you prefer hot chocolate or drinking chocolate? Sorry, I'm curious. And the video ended, so now a bit bored, not hearing all the lovely voices, including yours, anymore! I can't wait for the next Geoff or VoicePlay reaction!🤎

@@DravenGal I've never had a Stephens! Just had to google it. Looks yummy
I have a Hotel Chocolat Velvetiser that I use. I don't drink coffee so I guess this is my coffee machine replacement There are loads of different flavours to choose from so the hot choccy donations go towards these. You can buy big packs or sachets, and you pour them into the machine with milk.
My most recent flavour is a new one - a limited edition called "Love Ya Honey". As a kid I used to love hot milk and honey and this tastes remarkably similar to that...
Other favourite flavours are: mint, hazelnut praline, chilli dark
But the best hot choccie I've ever had would be in the snowy mountains of a country in Europe (where my family is from which I'm keeping a secret for now, you know to be mysterious and all that ). It just hit different.

I absolutely love Voiceplay's ability to tell a story, theatrically or not. That was Geoff's first F1 in chest voice.
After they did Nothing Else Matters, Chicago invited then to join them in concert, November 2023. Omar joined then for that gig. Eli was about to become a father. J None was there, ready to step in if Eli had to fly home. My favorite thing about them is that they are best friends/family.
Great reaction, loved catching your grins on the juicy chords!

The word captioned as "musha" is the actually the Irish word "muise" and is an exclamation of "well" or "indeed," and is followed by the Irish equivalent of scat singing - it's all nonsense verbiage. "Whack for my daddy-o" would be said while holding up the jar of whiskey, essentially saying "Here's a shot for me"
Geoff sings a fantastic gravelly F1 chest - a new chest low for him (so far), and Eli's great D5s!
If you're interested in the traditional tempo for this song, check out this video of Merry Mischief at the Sterling Renaissance Festival (please ignore the somewhat off singing of the person filming the video) ua-cam.com/video/nR-9buZLNJ8/v-deo.html

When this first came out, it was on the lower end for me, and it's still not a favorite, but it's really grown on me. I even find myself singing it from time to time, it is an earworm. LOL, when I first heard it, I forgot to turn on the subtitles, and I thought they were saying "Whack for my Daddio!" I remember thinking "Wait, Daddio is a American 1950s term, how is it in an old Irish Folk Song?" Then I realized it was "Whack for my Daddy, oh!" Which means "Have a drink on my Da!" Da, being a term for "Dad." Hmmmm, I wonder how far back the term "Daddy" goes? Anyway, fun reaction, as usual! I appreciate the song even more now! Thanks!🤎

Before those check the Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem, also Roger Whittaker from Nairobi, Kenya but a great folksinger in the 60s and 70s, died at 87 2 yrs ago: "Durham Town", "The Last Farewell", "New World in the Morning, "Skye Boat Song, "I Don't Belief in If Anymore, and "Wind Beneath My Wings". All of these are gorgeous. The first time I heard it was when I was 11 (1962) when my great-uncle George Houlihan - he and my Auntie Grace came down from Connecticut (Grace was a maid for the well-to-do families who came down to Florida in the winter, so she and George beat feet for Florida too. My new adopted dad had been a bartender before going to work for Lockheed at Cape Canaveral, had built a bar in the living room (he missed bartending) and had some whiskey for Uncle George. When he drained it, he started this song. Silly me, I thought he was singing for me, but no. This was his plea, singing this song and needing a refill from Dad. Whiskey in the Jar.

This was a funkyaa video that brought me a wave of good mood and kept me smiling from the slower pat on your pretty hairlessness at the beginning to all that ‘dum-a-doo-dum-a-da’ fun full of SH’s smiles and giggles; thanks! :) And now I think I understood the reason behind the unexpected query on Patreon involving Metallica’s version of this song… it’s indeed a very famous and iconic/catchy version of ‘Whiskey in the jar’, but I imagine it’s not the best representation of this important band discography (also, that music video brings many of those 90’s ideas related to how to party as hard as you can)… Well, that’s only a personal opinion coming from someone who is not a whiskey person and is more into some wine once in a blue moon; cheers, Sir!🍷

@ Metallica is still my favorite band of all time! If I could suggest just a few of their songs/videos…?
“One” official video is an absolute masterpiece for the metal genre and is actually about a true story of a severely wounded soldier in WW1.
Their live performance of “Enter Sandman” in Moscow, Russia from 1991 after the fall of the iron curtain is a favorite to many fans (and reactors). There was 1.6 million fans that attended that show! It’s hard to imagine 1.6M people together anywhere. It’s truly incredible!
My last Metallica suggestion for you specifically would be any performance from their 1999 album “S & M” (San Francisco Symphony & Metallica). It was a beautiful blend of two worlds.❤️

I’m old enough to remember both The Kingston Trio’s and PP&M’s covers of this old, traditional song. Initially, VP’s cover confused me because of differing lyrics, rhythms, & harmonies. But … these are VP trademarks. I’ve learned to love this version. Thank you for your usual excellent analysis.
BTW Can you explain why, on this side of the pond, whiskey is spelled with an “e”; but on your side, it’s spelled whisky?

    • @elliehart-2point0

You made me curious, so I had another look - so many other well-known artists/groups have interpreted this song as well (including Roger Whittaker, Gary Moore, Grateful Dead, Bryan Adams, Rednex, ...)
I like the ones by Smokie, Thin Lizzy and Celtic Thunder best; the ones by Metallica or Bryan Adams are not my cup of tea to be honest.
Thanks for this one in many ways: Interesting analyses (as always!), but I also had to smile a lot today, I was very entertained by your reaction - starting with your slightly different tapping on the head (I'm obviously pretty easy to amuse😂) right through to the lyrics that will be buzzing around in your head when you go to bed - and now probably in mine too 😅

A friend of mine is an outstanding singer and, outside of his status of Legend in the barbershop community, doesn't get the recognition he deserves, in my opinion. Would you please do a reaction video of his rendition of Bridge Over Troubled Water? The arrangement was actually written by Ben Bram, the gentleman who has arranged tons of songs for Pentatonix.
