Really happy with this model - it doesn't have a real physical form, but i figured a elder god/shoggoth like entity would be cool. Anyway, hope you enjoy it!
It looks really great, good choice !
Starro's dad is here and he's pissed
That model is insanely cool!!
Looks like starro
Really do! It kinda feels like a lie put out so that no one tries to imagine the entity.
I love the images on the monitor, how it keeps emphasizing the eye of this monster. Really drives the idea home that the more you "see" it, the more it "sees" you and the closer it gets to... Well, removing you from our reality. Also props to the original author for writing an SCP where inverted containment works so well
Don't you mean eyes (plural), considering how many small eyes are scattered around the main central one?

I’m usually not a huge fan of the “going to obliterate humanity at some point and there’s nothing we can do” type of scp cause I feel like there’s so many, but this one is really cool.
It just feels as if its making the SCP Foundation too powerless when in one of the 001 Stories, the administrators legit just decided to defy ALL the Gods
@@valhoolahoop6168 Defiance doesn't always mean victory, and I like to think that the administrators didn't just know that, but embrace it. Kind of a "Humanity will die on its feet, arms to bear and unbowed to any who seek our end. We will kick, punch, struggle and bite, even if it is meaningless" mindset.

For those who are interested, the passcode in the actual article is 55555.
It has been heavily implied that this entity is the thing that the Fifth Church has unknowingly been worshipping this whole time.
Yep, and the fifth church is just the latest incarnation of a string of cults and religeons worshipping and spreading it. However anyone who realizes this connection is instantly erased by the scp.
Also the scp number is 5⁵
The room that protects you from the entity is SCP 055

This is without a doubt one of my favorite SCPs of all time both from a conceptual and execution standpoint. The word Lovecraftian gets tossed around a lot these days but this was the first one that actually felt like it "Got It". The "Starfish God" in question aka SCP-3125 is an extremely difficult entity to deal with, not just for its vast size and scale of influence but because there is no material/physical way to fight it. The only we even know its present is because it dissolves our reality like a pill on its tongue because of how incompatible our reality is subject to its present... Meanwhile 3125 can be anything from a metaphysical animal acting out its nature, to a meme virus, to an entire reality, to a cosmic god and there would be little ways to test that because of how just how high the scale this is and how limited our methods would be to measure such a thing. An extraordinary concept. The War of the Gods for foundation is not fought in the material plane within the SCP Foundation. You get these that the material universe is just a byproduct of what these higher entities are doing, all the Foundation can do is watch and hopelessly attempt to perceive the the things they are not evolutionarily ready to handle. A truly hopeless situation, a truly Lovecraftian.
3125 its probably something related to fifthism, maybe the idea of fifthism itself, 3125 its 5^5
I agree, this scp really does capture my cosmic horror itch very well. One of my all time favorites.
I only started 3-4 minutes and the twist concerning the room makes it already my favorite, along with "a light that died", which is probably related.
I love the cognito hazard type SCP files. Also weird monsters, especially the sarkite flesh monsters. Oh and the church of the broken god. And reality benders, they're interesting too.
These are all really good. Personally I like the ancient history SCPs a lot and the alien/cosmic SCPs.
The last reality bender
"Hey, wait. If ANY information about this starfish-thingy cannot leave the containment chamber, then how come we know how it looks like- Oh. Oooooooh, Shit..."
It's dead now
@Corbin Smith Depends on the story. In some its killed by or merged with certain other SCP, in others it wins, and in others its merely contained a bit longer. Like when the foundation trapped it in an infinite loop by having it "go inside".
I think in one reality it escaped.
@Inland Empire i take it you don’t like lovecraftian horror much?
@Inland Empire it’s not necessarily a 4th wall break, it’s literally one of the main villains of the SCP Mythos, the embodiment of the Fifthist god.
Ah, the Constellation Starfish. A classic of literally immemorial proportions.
This SCP and all the lore behind it is impressive.
It's more copyright than anything,it's Starro from DC comics
@@AbstractVader literally what i was thinking

Starfish doesn’t even have a form.
That model is from the Volgun.
And about the abilities of both, they differ in almost everything.
@@Karzahani742 Alternative appearance: Marion Wheeler described it as having a "hull", and scp6820 metaphorically referred it as a "five legged spider".
One question I'd like to find an answer for is : Was 3125 the only thing left in its dimension after conquering it, or is it one of its lesser threat that is trying to escape ?
Another question would be: What was in its environment for its mind and self to be able of such aggressive adaptation?
I really really like the concept here!
scp-5800
It could be either or anywhere in between. The more I tried to picture it, the more I kept picturing something like the shy guy, only instead of reacting to people looking at it, it's reacting to people thinking about it.
Careless memetic foundation staffer: "SCP 3125-"
SCP 3125: "HOLY SHIT WHO'S THERE?!!!" **BLAM-BLAM-BLAM-BLAM-BLAM!!!** (heavy gasping) "Damn that was close!"
Its dimension isn't even really a "real" spacial dimension so to say. It is the result of the evolution through a place where ideas are able to spread in place of living things, and must develop their own defense and offensive mechanisms in order to propagate and survive. It isn't really "alive" so much as it's just an idea that has been highly optimized to spread, basically the mental form of a highly lethal and spreadable virus. Perhaps a higher being would be able to comprehend and resist 3125's influence, but since humans are limited in our brainpower, we succumb to it almost instantly (except in the case of Wheeler, who was able to stave it off due to knowing what it looks like, and defending her mind accordingly.)
I think the name is referring to the reader, or else the person acessing the file. Both in concept to the "invert containment" of someone who knows and should be hunted by 3125 and the Antimemetic Division canon of the Marion Wheeler being the last bastion against 3125 as all previous attempts, GoIs, and Antimemetic personnel are hunted down as they uncover 3125.
@@inkedseahear In "There Is No Antimemetics Division", 3125 is called "The Escapee" by a character in dialogue, so I think it's meant to reference the SCP.

amd since 3125 has all sorts of manifestations
starro may be an aspect of 3125, like the invisible spiders, alastair gray or the fifth church
Simple answer for this one. Program an automated system that possesses no thought or will to construct the machine, load it into a data devise. Leave a note for yourself to "insert program in your hand into machines at site-x, permit construction to complete (DO NOT OBSERVE) and activate the machine" sit back and do nothing until it finishes. It attacks thinking things and machines only go through "place x joint to y axis", they don't consider why a thing is being made, and "why" can be scrubbed easily from a machine's instructions because a machine doesn't need motivation to follow them, it just does.
@@smeggiamagarwine You can do that from within the containment chamber, though. Hopefully.
@@smeggiamagarwine You can do that in the exclusion zone without including identifying details that the machines wouldn't need to mechanically solve for constructing the device.
You do not need to know how something works or what it is for to build a device. Especially if that device has laid out instruction of construction, but not explicitly what it does. Given that the machines don't have reason, logic, or intelligence and are simply following the plans there's no concern that it will "figure out" what the machine is for, because it isn't an AI. It's a dumb computer program running through a process.
@@BurningSunBloodyMoon Except you would have no way to disseminate your programming info, or run a remote signal into or out of the chamber. So yeah, the perfect program could already exist. It just can't leave the cell. The only key to beating this thing is currently (pontentially), laying right under its open maw, and going in to get it means forgetting it exists.
@@smeggiamagarwine like some beans right
read the Antimemetics Division Hub in the wiki, it has an entire story about the people that deal with this kind of stuff (3125 is something you can say as uh, main villain, let's say) and it's some of the most well written stuff in the entire wiki
I remember an SCP that basically drove the Foundation to kill all of humanity because it was "infected." Every last one of the humans had it. They sent a file to foundation members, those foundation members has a light gone from their eyes, and even the giant indestructible lizard didn't want to kill them anymore. Like they weren't human anymore. I wonder if this is the other side of that coin. Can't remember the number, but it's a suit with the log of the guy who wore it, traveling to reset humanity after this happened.
SCP 5000 my dude. It's one of the bests!
The exploring series has a great video on this
Not to burst your bubble, but the foundation was right to do what they did. They were saving humanity from eternal suffering due to something inhabiting the noosphere. If all people who weren’t cleared by the foundation’s thing die, so does the thing that feeds off human pain (and makes them suffer after they die) So, in conclusion: Parasite feeding off human suffering is discovered by the foundation, foundation promptly does its job and protects humanity: By saving them from eternal suffering. That… MORON, caused all that progress to be erased, and humanity to go back to suffering after dying.
and the worst part is?
That SCP won in its article. Normal, baseline reality is it's victory state
3125 got neutralized eventually but the entity in 5000 is still around
The whole repeating five and antimemetics series is easily one of the best things in the foundation. The way it integrates the articles and tales in its own narrative is pretty much perfect
Why is 5 afraid of 7
@@gpt-jcommentbot4759 Fun Fact:
-The 3rd is IT, from SCP-5000.
-The 5th is the starfish (SCP-3125) worshipped by The Fithists.
-The 6th is SCP-682 (Actually, SCP-6820).
-The 7th is the god of the unknowable i believe.
Are there any others I've missed?
I love the fact that the antimemetics could in fact erase the concept of each individual reading the document from knowledge of they themselves having belonged to the scp foundation and still be posed by the threat of ... It.
It just makes itself so much more possible to be... REAL.
That "KIlling everyone with similar thought patterns to the observer" part would be so much worse than described here. Hell, family would probably be safe, since they often think completely differently. Hundreds of millions of people, whom the observer has never even interacted with, but just have a similar psychospace by random natural coincidence, would die.
And that must be why things ended as quickly as they did.
I think the idea is that thoughts and ideas are akin to "locations" in the noosphere/infosphere. Hence why those within a research group will be observed, since they are "closer" by working together in the same field/project, we also know those affect by 3125 is partially physical (spoilers afterwards). So it's not really like two individuals share a similar flowchart or thought pattern.
3125 is such a terrifyingly well-written SCP and the stories involving Marion and Adam Wheeler are among my favorites. Well done with this one!
Oh wow, didn't expect to see Starro in an scp vid
I love this it’s a brilliant concept. It’s an invasive mind species from another dimension and the reason why it’s dangerous is because evolutionarily the main state as it comes from is way more hostile. It’s kind of like we the the dodo and it’s the human.
Dodos were most likely killed by rats who ate all their eggs, the humans hunting them down to extinction is a very stupid myth.
@@InquisitorShepard it was more likely multiple factors than one, know that things are usually more complicated that it seems, for the hunter factors: each individual lost is a lost to population size no matter how small it is (destroy present individual), invasive species like rats yes(destroy reproduction), and habitat degradation and the shrinking of it, (destroy food, future, and space basically), and etc
So yeah even if it was only the rats, they ultimately are hitchhikers from us, the arrival of humans is the main etiology(cause),
Had humans kept them and bring them to conservations, they would probably still be around today
I love this SCP. Even the art of containing it leads to contingencies to try and contain it, therefore ensuring it always has an anchor in reality. The best solution, paradoxically, is actually the cover story, and let the boys build the irregularity anchor, unknown to, and unthanked by, the rest of us.
The author, QNTM, actually released the entire story as a novel (best story on the wiki by far!) - deserves it too
omg I'm reading the book 'There is No Antimemetics Division" this is so perfect!

I remember reading this entry and the associated tales. One of the ones that affected me the most, alongside an Ode to Death. There's something terrifying about something you can't even afford to understand.
Is this the concept that was described in the SCP Tale, "Unforgettable, That Is What You Are" and related stories? It was a concept that gave birth to all the SCP's and whose shape was something resembling a hand reaching into our reality or dimension, spewing out concepts that become the SCP's. They were a great series of stories with equally interesting characters.
Yes.
One of my favorites! I'm so glad to see a reading of it here.
My whole vision is twisting after staring into that spinning SCP-3125.
I'm a simple man, I see a volgun video, I watch, life is good
This one is one of my favorites. It’s basically the memetic equivalent of an eldritch abomination. It also has the fridge horror of realizing that in the noosphere this thing came from, it might be something as weak as a song getting stuck in your head. Not only is the idea of things much more powerful than scp-3125 disturbing, but it raises the question of if the noosphere we know comes from us, then what beings does scp-3125’s noosphere come from?
IIRC in the story it is implied there is a natural predator of this sort of SCP that was made extinct by too much observation by the SCP foundation. Later on it's shown the predator just went onto hiding.
@@mollystewart-gallus537 I’m not sure if scp-2256 (the species you’re talking about) are it’s natural predators, but they do seem to be a weakness, as the reverse containment chamber is made from their bones, as they seem to somehow cut off anything they surround from the rest of the noosphere. They’re also capable of eating scp-3125’s meta-spiders (the antimemetic spider-like creatures which seem to serve as its physical avatars)

Love the channel volgun! Always cheers me up to see a new video.
Sounds like they got it and did another SCP-2000 job. Bye bye Apocalypse, all tidied-up nice and clean.
Depends on the canon huhuhu
Not this one. 2000 can revert XK class EOW's, situations where the world or universe is wrecked beyond compare by something _inside_ reality because it's effectively an unchallengeably powerful reality-warper.
3125 is another _more powerful_ reality dissolving our own. It's the equivalent of you coughing to clear your throat. It'll effortlessly kick out mucus and crap wrecking your lungs, even undo potentially life-ending blockages, but it won't do anything against a bear eating you.
I think you need to read 3125 and understand what it does.
I don't think 2000 can fix that.
yes, and no. Depends on how deep into the Antimemetics hub do you wan to get
Activating SCP-2000 to try and stop/reverse SCP-3125's progress would require knowing that SCP-3125 exists and the threat it poses, which is fatal in all cases.
And even after SCP-2000 finishes and things return to 'normal,' the SCP is still not contained, and any future antimemetics research will invariably lead to its re-discovery.
I love seeing you do videos on these really dangerous and esoteric SCPs. I’d love to see you tackle SCP-5000 or SCP-3930. You’d bring so much more dimension to those articles.

Someone call the Suicide Squad
MTF Suicide Squad. ;)
This is part of my very favorite series of SCP stories, antimemetics. Really neat concept and really well executed by the author.
The Exploring Series touched on this one once, awesome to see it fleshed out!
If a friend of the BIg Reptile entered this chamber, I think we'd have an epic struggle of some sort. Unless this is the Big Reptile...
i think that because 6820-A is an idea of a similar scale, they can actually understand each other
Great job on the video, love the model used for 3125. One question though, why was Marion Wheeler changed to Martin Wheeler in your reading? It's not like it changes anything about the SCP I'm just curious as to why it was changed.
No female voice actors
As always Volgun, Dr Miller always delivers quality presentations. Keep up the good work.
If memetics already tangle with my foggy and numb mind, I can't truly describe the amount of ... "ugh!" that costs my brain to deal with antimemetics. Awesome work, very cool SCP, congrats to the volgun, and the writer!
Ah yes, Starro the Conqueror…
Starro is best hero.
I immediately thought of Starro as well 🤣
...Starro lives...
Upon exiting the airlock, and entering the containment chamber, you are greeted by a surprising figure; John Cena. Mr Cena then proceeds to tell you Obama's last name, before the amnestic gas floods the chamber.
Obamas last name is Kennedy 😳
You mean Obama?
“What you must remember: First foremost, Starro is a Conqueror.” - Lex Luthor
Dude, the whole antimemetics division series is so damn good! This was the article that got me into reading the whole thing. I seriously recommend reading through it all, it's full of the right kind of existential dread.
It's good to see a serious SCP video, not an animation garbage.
You will enjoy listening to Volgun… if you still are.

This is by far one of the coolest SCPs I’ve heard. I just imagine being a researcher, annoyed that I have the be the sucker who drew the short straw and be the one to do the week long vigil in the box. Then I sit down and open the file…
this is my favorite scp, thank you volgun
The escapee is keter dont grab meter just run drop your gun you aint having fun.
You are spitting fire
The passcode is 55555
Thanks
I mean, one loophole to this one is that they could have just created plans for the machine to destroy it with no descriptions of what it's for, and even labeled it for the containment of a separate SCP if necessary.
True, but Marion (Martin) and Hughes address that the people working on it would figure out what it was made to destroy; either by curiosity or just looking at the schematics and realizing it’s purpose. But, they could stop that from happening by making them regularly take amnestics!
Yessss! Thank You. I'm so sick and SCP is the only thing I care to think about right now.
I have to admit, that while I love the quality of the TheVolgun's videos... this SCP actually kind of annoyed me. It's written in a way where it literally makes no sense, as it apparently already permeates everything and apparently has abilities that allow it to prevent it from being found out in a 'because I said so' kind of way... and the only way of stopping it means you have to know about which means it 'eats' you before you can do anything about it?
How did people find out about it in order to start putting up a defense? ( Sheer chance? Did they create this super defensible room/containment unit on a lark or was it 'just in case we found some super dangerous super-meme?' ) How did they they start constructing any kind of defense? ( Again, that's a process. Unless they set out specifically to create the 'ultimate in meme-defense' then how would they know it works... and if didn't, then wouldn't people just straight up dying off severely hamper such a chambers construction? ) How was the irreality machine even conceived of in order to stop it if that meant knowing about in the first place, which was/is apparently enough for it to kill you off, or at the very least find then kill you off? ( See above questions and complaints! )
I don't mean to be 'that guy' but this SCP reeks of 'Because I said so' and in the worst possible ways, some tweaking here or there would make this thing genuinely creepy. Like the second, larger chamber actually being a place that the thing was lured into and trapped. The name of 'The Escapee' becoming ironic, as though the irreality machine was able to contain it if the machine fails it can then escape... and the ticking time element being the efforts to maintain the machine and its containment. That all the memetic qualities attributed are 'leaks' in containment as a warning of the impending doom if a newer, better form of containment cannot be found.
As it is... I feel the biggest question is 'Why hasn't it won yet?' I mean, it just feels like this thing should've won making the entire entry as an SCP completely moot. Maybe I'm not 'getting it' about this SCP, that's a possibility, but this one just... doesn't inspire fear or horror.
I think you just aren't looking at it right dude, it's a wonderful scp and your "issues" with it are what make it work so well
The reason it hasn't won yet is because it isn't fully in our reality yet. The antimemetics team has dealt with cognitohazards before, so it's likely that they have procedures for selectively forgetting the right information while recording what they need to do, and the sense to carry out instructions without full knowledge of what they're containing. They exposed themselves to it little by little, recorded what they could, forgot about it to protect themselves, then acted on whatever information can safely be handled.
It can only see you if you see it, and the more you know, the clearer the image becomes. By only perceiving a piece of it, you can figure out some part of what you need to contain it, then put that part with the others, and forget what you saw. It might have been a slow process at first, but the more progress they make, the more sense they'll be able to make of it. Even if it seems like they're losing, it's more likely that they are hiding themselves as they strengthen containment. As the last addendum suggested, the plan was actually enacted multiple times, and thus would have had some result, likely a success, considering they have built multiple cognitoproof chambers of increasing size and secrecy. They're not really losing, it just looks that way from the outside because it's safer if they're completely hidden.
i think the point is they have already defeated it serval times, but the document remains and when they leave after having activated the machine they get amnestied, so they forget to remove the file.
Quite literally every one of your gripes with this SCP are explained and used as plot points in the story of the Antimemetics Division. It's okay if you don't want to do the reading, but to then make judgements about it because of your lack of information just doesn't make much sense.
I agree, for the most part. These kind of SCP's are the least interesting to me. I actually care more about the self-replicating child and the thing that can't stand it when people look at it than this "if you even just know about it, you're dead" kind of SCPs. It just seems so over the top.
Dark Nebula(Kirby)+Bill Cipher(Gravity Falls)+Unicron(Transformer)=SCP-3125
Dark Nebula's appearance+Bill Cipher's powerful and temperamental personality+Unicron's powerful, resentful and destructive personality
