I’ve loved Eno since I first heard him with Roxy Music ... nearly fifty years ago. He is still, for me at least, the greatest musical genius on the planet. Thank you, Brian, from the bottom of my heart.
Can't think of anything better to "set the mood" for thinking creatively. ENO understands the real meaning of the term "Ambiance" and "Ambient Music" Thank you so much Brian Eno ... for all the years of helping to clear my mind, in preparation of the battle to come . I haven't been beaten yet! Lol !!!
haha, nice words - did you know, that brian eno in fact created the term "ambient music" as well as the genre itself? as far as i know, it started with "music for airports" - this record was actually meant to be played at airports, for the people who had to wait there - it ought to be played at a quite low level, so you might not even notice it when you´re busy, but you might listen and relax to it, in case you have to wait... it was a peculiar little chain of events that brought me to his quiet music: during the mid seventies i liked his appearence with roxy music, his exotic, eccentric outfits, his transparent violin plus the fact he was said to be playing "tapes" (we had no idea what that meant, but it sounded cool, haha) made me a fan - then i heard "third uncle" at our local disco and loved it! when i learned that it was from a brian eno solo record, i assumed automatically that he had made "a record" and so i went in a record shop and bought it - once i started listening, i felt cheated completely: there was no music on it, only strange noises that kept repeating endlessly - i put the needle a bit further on the record: the same - what a disapointment! what had happened? i had bought "evening star" instead of "taking tiger mountain", haha... some months later i watched a prog band in a small youth centre and they played this weird music before their appearance - i had smoked a little and sat there, quite relaxed in a sofa, waiting for the band to perform - the music caught me and made me fly very well, haha - the concert was nice: wicked eddie schicke on drums, two mellotrons on stage and führs or fröhling (can´t remember who) had his self built guitar/bass as one instrument - way cool... ua-cam.com/video/xvnRkJdbm6w/v-deo.html after the concert i remembered the strange music they had played before the concert: could it be...... when i came home that night i immediately put on that weird eno record and - yesss, there it was: "an index of metals" - and i was a fan ever since! hey buddy, i hope i amused you a little... :-) greetings from germany
@@theshamelesspitchmenforjes2173 musically it was i guess, but "music for airports" was the first one, that was intended to be one and also called that - as far as i know... ...and along with discreet music there was also a series of other ambientish musics by friends of him - i remember "decay music" and harold budd´s "pavillon of dreams"... thank you... :-)
@@theshamelesspitchmenforjes2173 oh, i hear you: it´s a very humble and stunningly beautiful album - i couldn´t say, which is my favourite, i also love "tiger mountain" and "another green world", as well as the quiet side of "before and after science" with the wonderful e-piano work of roedelius, i even sung "by this river" as a lullaby to my daughter when she was still a baby - she loved it and years later asked me to write down the lyrics for her - she learned what they meant and now we sometimes sing it together, haha... :-) "onland" is also brilliant and then the one song on "evening star" with this gorgeous guitar playing by robert fripp - last year i discovered a cello version of it and this was when i realized of what the guitar had always reminded me: a cello! i lost track to eno after onland and started investigating his later works just a few years ago here on youtube - i must admit i´m disapointed - i find most of it boring somehow, i miss the spirit of musical adventure in most of the music... there is more to say, but i have to leave now, nice to meet you... :-)
I will always love Brain Enos music.. He has a way of getting in my head and sticking there.

Truly stunning. I've been dreaming of her for 48 years now. But not a dream. Actual reality
I'm getting a hint of Donnie Darko here...
