This was a beautiful, well done film. It proves that you don't need a huge budget to make a film which touches the heart and inspires the soul . I was also moved by the caption at the end, that President Reagan used this story in a speech he gave in 1985 while visiting Germany. When Reagan's German hosts invited him to visit the Bitberg Cemetery where many young Wehrmacht soldiers were buried, his advisors tried to discourage him from going there. President Reagan went anyway to pay his respects to the war dead of Germany, our former foe. This gesture was hugely appreciated by the German people. In spite of his usual hawkish rhetoric, Reagan knew how to build bridges of reconciliation. He was a true man of peace. Our modern politicians could learn a thing or two from him.
There is no enmity between man and his brother. Everyone is brothers. All wars, destruction and death are caused by politicians, supported by religious men and their actions justified by a wonderful film.
There have been some many episodes like this in Ucraine and Russia too, with our Italian soldiers, invaders at that time: the women have often welcomed them into their homes - or they would die of cold - and gave him something to eat, when no even blankets to carry. It's written in some many book by surviving witnesses of terrible retreat from Russia/Ucraina. Thanks for this beautiful film

I saw an earlier version of this movie but this one was much, much the better production in every respect, especially by its ability to make you feel what those soldiers on both sides must have felt that night and thereafter.
Glad I got to watch both before they went crazy with the advertising. I won't be watching anything on this channel now that there's no advantage to watching anything on UA-cam.
With the same incident that the pacifist lady created in Christmas, she created the law of Jesus Christ in the middle of the war between dangerous thoughts, and this event is considered a smile in history for the thoughts of Hitler and fascism, a smile that real.
Some years ago I read a story of an American GI meeting a German army pastor in a Belgium church by chance towards the end of ww2, I thought this story would have made a good short film. The GI was not aware the pastor was German, not until the pastor took off his vestments to reveal his Heer officer uniform, they parted ways outside the church. Has anyone else heard of this story
An example of what I mean by overdoing it is, now you can't even look through titles for something you might want to watch without a heavy dose of advertising with every one you only want to check out while you look through the titles for something you may want to watch. Sad but like they say nothing good ever lasts.
I'm pretty sure lots will leave. I have nothing against some advertising "everyone has to eat) but I think they have overdone it. May as well go to any of the other providers with more and better content.
We all are in desperate need of a true moral 🧭 compass. Our Creator God supplies rest for the weary and heavy laden. We have a weekly memorial in God’s seventh day sabbath of rest from our labor. Exodus 20:8-11 KJV starts with REMEMBER. The fourth commandment KJV is reminding us of Genesis 2:2&3. Jesus is our Great Exemplar. Sabbath is Friday sunset to Saturday sunset. Sabbath is not sun day tradition observance of ancient pagan rome.
