  • Phoenix - I took passenger seat today when my friend who's the original owner of this Special Edition Accord rolled it to 130,000 miles. It's surely one of the best-preserved in existence.

I do too! Honda's used to always have a specific start sound. That year and model Accord inspired me to get my Accord that I have today. I bought a black 2014 sport model Accord. It reminded me so much of that 93 SE model. The perfect simple but classy style! They are amazing!

Some ppl may not be aware but the 93SE was a pretty special car especially the 4-dr.
First the cashmere silver paint that was so common during and after '94 was an exclusive to the 93SE sedan only.
Next only the SE sedan received dual front airbags In fact Honda redesigned the dash to accom. odate it. Not even the coupe received it.
It was the first North American Accord to have ABS and was standard. It had 2 brake fluid reservoirs as a redundant backup.
Sadly it was the last Accord SE designated as a top line model since the series started in '85. The SE's were only brought out in the final year of the 3 generations it was produced and always had leather, Bose and various exclusive features unavailable on ordinary Accords...

hiptech I have this exact same car in very nearly the same condition.
But this one....has re upholstered seats, OEM floornats (uber rare, although I still have mine, but not as nice) a rear spoiler (optional on sedan, so makes it more rare) OEM Foglights, also rare) then you add in the dash mat and this thing is the holy grail of the 93 accord. These cars are certainly few and far between, I tell people if they buy an se keep it stock!!!! #cb7king

    • @_LM_

The dashboard on this model was actually the same as on the next generation (94-97), which made it even more special in my opinion.

Actually that isn't true. Dash and gauge pod are different, on 90-93, and cd5 94-97.

I remember waiting impatiently for the 1986 Accord to arrive for me to test drive at Scott Robinson Honda in Torrance, CA. I got into the driver's seat settled in, put my hands on the steering wheel and without turning on the engine, I decided I was going to buy the car. It just felt so right for me. And the test drive just cemented the deal. It was an LX and it took all my will power to wait for the same gray color 5-speed manual EX (slightly more powerful engine and better quality cloth seats), and buy one later on that week. Passed it on to my son at 150K miles and he sold it with 265K miles on it years later. Only problem I could re-call was that the motors on the automatic windows were weak, and toward the end he had trouble with them. Otherwise trouble free.
Have since had a Prelude (stick), Acura Legend (stick), CR-V; and now drive an Acura MDX.

I worked at a Honda store in West Chester PA, Auto Enterprises Honda (now Scott Honda) during the mid 80s and early 90s when these two models came out and we couldn't keep them in stock as soon as they arrived on the car carrier they were already spoken for. They really were amazing cars for the time, actually they are superior to the modern day Honda cars, 98 onward..as the golden years models (mid 80s- mid 90s) were superior in build quality, durability, attention to detail, and driving dynamics, especially some of the driver controls like the manual stick which was brilliant back then and is far better than any car has today, even Honda's of today. I drove them all and if Honda reproduced them to the standard of that time they would have a boom in sales they were really just that incredible in every way.

You can tell from the design that Soichiro Honda had his own hand in this model and design, the attention to detail is amazing, along with the durability, and superior quality, not to mention the great handling for a family sedan, even today. If Honda were to reproduce this model today they would still sell well! I'd go out and buy one tomorrow. What's interesting to me is the appearance of simplicity of function with just the right amount of modern day efficiency.

  • @DrivingHy
    @DrivingHy 5 років тому +4

In case anyone was wondering... the brake light indicator was fixed soon after this video was posted. The problem was with the wiring from the power antenna auto down feature. The Honda spoiler accessory has a module that switches wire color between the antenna and tail light assembly. This causes the antenna to retract when the trunk opens so the spoiler does not hit the antenna. It took some time to trace it but it's all sorted out and works fine now. No dash warning light anymore...

To prove it's a 4th Generation Accord, the brake lamp warning is glowing on the instrument cluster, but it's not a bad bulb. It's a small spot of corrosion on the cluster circuit board itself. A leaking capacitor is usually the culprit.

Having the rear spoiler and dash cover make this car even more rare, very few 4dr SE had a spoiler, it was only a dealer option, the SE coupe spoiler came standard, albeit a slightly different shape. Is that an OEM dash cover? If so it'd make this car 1 in a million.

What a beauty. Very few of us know how special the 1993 SE was, my cousin bought a new one and I remember falling in love with it the minute I sat in the passenger seat, it was as silky smooth as any previous iterations of the Accord, but in a taut, more luxurious kind of way. Years later in 2005 I found a 93 coupe in good condition but always wished it had been a sedan with the dual airbags. Interior wasn't as nice, the leather in Hondas of that era wasn't very durable. I drove it for a couple of years before parting with it (a picture of it is now sort of popular on the web after I uploaded it on Wikipedia on 2006 commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:1993_Honda_Accord_SE_coupe_02.jpg ). I'll always have a soft spot for 93 Accord SE sedans, if the owner of this one reads this, this car should eventually go to the Honda museum in California where a lot of mint condition Hondas live and are perpetually kept from the outside world. Thank you for keeping the best version of this generation Accord so clean!

………..I've wanted one of these ever since I can remember. Not just one like it or the same year...………. EVERYTHING right down to the colour and it being an 1993 SE (which to me is the best year and model of Honda Accord). The ONLY thing I would change would be that it's a 2-door SE and not the 4-door. Besides that I start to salivate when I look at this example. I love 'em right down to the leather interior and the bose stereo. The body on this example is downright immaculate which is tough since Hondas are known for developing rust (especially behind the rear wheel wells). BTW: That is totally avoidable if you just take the time to wash in behind the wheel well every time you clean the car. Dirt from daily driving gets caught up there and after years of driving in the wet weather it turns to mud up in behind those wheel wells and it slowly starts to rust. So take heed Accord owners it isn't a done deal that you'll develop rust there...….as long as you keep it clean in that area. :) Of course living in a dry state such as Arizona helps a LOT!! :)

I had a 5 speed 1992 ex. I remember changing spark plugs/wires, fresh oil change, and new Yokohama tires. I drove it from NC to Ga in a time that I'm embarrassed to say. It's a very nice car but you do feel like you are literally sitting on the ground. If I had lots of money I would recondition a 1993 SE and use it as my daily driver. It would cost a fortune to get one back in perfect condition.

The car needs a valve adjustment I know it's been sitting for awhile but the valvetrain makes excessive noise mine doesn't make that noise anymore after the adjustment and runs much better.

    • @TysonHugie

I suppose it's possible! The owner is very careful about maintenance. I'll ask him about when the last valve adjustment was performed.

I had a 91 SE and also a 93 SE as well. Love these cars. I had 136k on the 91 when i got T-boned by a speeding idiot in an old Pontiac. The 93 only had 104k on it. I foolishly had it in my gf's name and lost it when we split. But I will get another one day and put either a K or H motor in it. Also I used to have a 91 EX coupe with a red top H22A4 mated to the M2B4 LSD equipped tranmission. Absolutely love CB7s!

Yes, beautiful condition.... but as for the mileage..... big deal, nowadays 130k is nothing.... just about any car ends up with that many miles and many more. But yes, the owner went out of their way to take amazing care of this Accord.
