CLOUNMACON: fundraising event at the Clounmacon Community Centre on Friday 15th November 2024, two films were screened on the night, 1.nightmare first time screened, a horror film 30 minutes long filmed in and around Clounmacon in 1979, starring Kathleen Egan, Eleanor O’Sullivan, Listowel, Gerard Moran and Jerry O’Connor, Knockanure, Joe Stapleton, Athea and Eileen Cronin, Moyvane; 2.rolling back the years this is the story of 12 children that attended Clounmacon school in 1962, original footage of the local people. Taigheen's Farewell, Leo’s movie Taigheen’s Farewell is set in the 1950s and tells the tale of an old man and his son living in the countryside and how an insurance agent and his wife con them of their money. They set up the old man to fake his own funeral for the insurance money but things go very wrong from there. It was filmed around Moyvane, Knockanure and Athea and includes an all-star cast of publican and journalist Billy Keane, Glin Councilor John Sheahan, Frances and Patsy Kennedy, John Bosco McMahon, Donal Woulfe, Larry Burke, Denis Mahony and Jerry Murphy.
