Michael went into a solo dance at the 2:08 mark and went right back into the routine dance. Michael was popping and you can tell he was bursting with energy.
IF I WAS NOT BORN IN THE 60S I WOULD PROBABLY NEVER THINK THAT MICHAEL JACKSON EVER REALLY SANG THAT DOGGONE GOOD BUT U SEE I GREW UP LISTENING TO THEM THEY WAS THE BIZNESS AN MICHAEL MESMERIZING AND AMAZING VOCALS 100 MILLIONS OF YRS FROM NOW THIS WORLD WILL KNOW WHO THEY ARE AND DEFINETLY WHO MICHAEL JACKSON WAS ....THE WORLDS GREATEST ENTERTAINER TO EVER WALK THIS EARTH REAL TALK
Wow seeing here on Soul Train brings back memories of setting in front of the television as a child in ‘71 and enjoying them on ST. I remember the excitement me and my siblings had all through the week knowing that the Jackson 5ive was going be on that show. The Jackson 5ive music was a big part of my childhood. I always thought that it was so cool having Jermaine and Tito playing their own instruments while performing; in fact Jermaine inspired me to learn how to play bass guitar. To this day I still have my J5 albums back at my parents house. Such fond memories. What a blessing growing up in the 70’s seeing their performances in real. RIP MJ. 🤗
do ya notice michaels voice on hear sounds azactly the same like it did in 1969 singing i want you back. if you hear him singing i want you back in 1971 from the indiana special he sound a little more mature. this is 1972. some one please respond. thank you.
Most likely to ALL the people who are saying michael lip sycned, his voice was beginning to mature too qucikly so he would crack when he would sing/record and of course thats b/c he was singng so like they did with justin bieber at the vma's in 2010 the had him lip sync
They may have been brothers but they also had different jobs in the group, Michael was a great front man who was a great singer and dancers and Jermaine was a great bass player and a great crooner for the group and who could take the pressure off Michael as well as sing a great lead with a very soulful voice.
Did they do this on Flip WIlson? I saw a clip of Jermaine out front on a Jackson special with the guys in some loud suits, lol. I have yet to see it on UA-cam.
maybe this particular soul train episode is lip synced, but "rarely did live music"? Are you kiddin' me right now? You should listen/watch more J5 if you believe that.
Why does all the lyrics for this song have the lyric as you gotta reach up towards the sun? I could understand if the lyrics were hard but this is easy. He clearly says you gotta reap just what you sow.
That James Jamerson riff! is off the Chain!~so many notes and so perfectly melodic!! wow! they say Darling dear's Bass Line is one of the Greatest James Bass lines i dissagree somewhat! they need to stop and check one!~
Mj was talented, but he only got 1 grammy for Off The wall and he didn't sell more than 7 million for that record either. There is a reason why none of Motown artists and legend sell 60 million records. It has to do with promotion and money. MJ got his promtion through videos and MTV. Thriller came at the right time and Motown 25 helped. Jermaine did not do many videos, but the ones he did are very popular, which goes to show that had he done more videos he would have sold more than he did.
@MahoganyLuvsMikeyJ everybody lip sync on soul train did nt u every notice how every song perform on so train sound just on the track but its ok tho its still micheal micheal
with all respect to michael, obviously one of if not the most talented artist in history, jermaine is a very good singer lol he doesn't get enough credit in my mind
I've always liked Jermaine's voice. I have all of his solo albums. On his albums after leaving Motown he wrote some of the songs and played a lot of the instruments.
the J5 always put on a good performance. and for those who keep saying Soul Train always lip sync, arent fans of the show. Soul Tran has a good number of live performances. they wanted to do what American Bandstand wouldnt do.
Jackie Jackson be like....Workin It Onstage...as the Old Folks Say.. HE DON'T BE HALF STEPPIN..But what Amazes me is How the Jackson Five Are so Discipline and at Ease. They could me Drunks Sex Fiends or Dopeheads....Mr.Joe Jackson did a lot of things RIGHT !!!! HIS MANAGEMENT STYLE WITH HIS SONS.......REALLY WORKED... YOUR FAMILY REIGNS. FOREVER AS THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME......NO ONE CAN COMPARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry to tell you this but James jamerson is NOT playing Bass on this! The Bass player on this is Wilton Felder who is also a horn player. sorry to bust your tomato like that but it;s just not true that Jamerson played this song. TRUST ME, my dad was THERE! @tedkay
Anyone notice that ' bow Jackie hit MJ with when Don asked him to introduce the next song( I Want You Back)? My guess is MJ was supposed to be quiet because this was a showcase for Jermaine
OMG MICHAEL :((( WHY DID U LIPSYNC.!!!!! UR STILL GOOD THOUGH OMG MICHAEL I LOVE YOU AND JERMAIN YOU WERE SOO GOOD. MICHAEL MICHAEL MICHAEL I LOVE YOU AND UR SOO AMAZING :)
i agree with that. i believe babygirl messed buddy up! i even agree with the love part. done even messed me up a couple of times and i can't even sang!
Супер MJ взял па на подтанцовку а он как выстрельнул прямо затмил собою все и вся А чтобы было если бы не нужна была подтанцовка и не было DJ 5 попал бы он на сцену но это была бы уже совсем другая история
Jermaine was A singing brother! but i think Hazel gordy put out the fire of JJ's career buy getting him hooked, love can blind you!!and destroy a career.
It was a hit for him. It was a top 30 hit on the Billboard hot 100 and back then having a top 40 hit was pretty much a hit. That might be not a significant feat in today's time but it was something back then.
Michael went into a solo dance at the 2:08 mark and went right back into the routine dance. Michael was popping and you can tell he was bursting with energy.
Jackson Five is my all time favorite group. I love Jermaine Jackson. Rockweiler
BEST EVER! JACKSON FIVE FOREVER!! ❤❤
oh yeah, i remember seeing this on Soul Train, i watched this and American Band stand. the good ole days, and they all sounded totally terrific...
Very talented brothers!
I agree with you. The first time I heard jermaine sing I came to that conclusion, and I was very much an Mj fan at the time.

Much love peace, and soul to all those pioneers.
Haha! Loved how little Michael broke off from his brothers @ 2:02 and started doing his own thing!
Jermaine and Michale was in that I love those days

Beautiful stuff.
I hate to say this because I know MJ fans are going to disagree but I always felt like Jermaine was the best singer in the group.
They may have been brothers but they also had different jobs in the group, Michael was a great front man who was a great singer and dancers and Jermaine was a great bass player and a great crooner for the group and who could take the pressure off Michael as well as sing a great lead with a very soulful voice.
BEAUTIFUL and im the firs comment too people need to leave good comments on a good video
true and back then you had to sing furreal o they had the studio but you had to be able to sannnnng and bring it
Did they do this on Flip WIlson? I saw a clip of Jermaine out front on a Jackson special with the guys in some loud suits, lol. I have yet to see it on UA-cam.
maybe this particular soul train episode is lip synced, but "rarely did live music"? Are you kiddin' me right now? You should listen/watch more J5 if you believe that.
i agree but michaels overall tona and range was something some one never seen from any one else
Why does all the lyrics for this song have the lyric as you gotta reach up towards the sun? I could understand if the lyrics were hard but this is easy. He clearly says you gotta reap just what you sow.

One More Chance. 7/31, 2 am. Same place.
@fourcrazymartins: soultrain's programs were most of lip sync, including this one, jackson 5 rarely did live music
I call for the return of Soul Train.

I think Jermaine in many ways is a more soulful singer than Michael. He didn't get as much credit as he should have.

Hey! I was wondering what he says between 2:42 and 2:46 (I'm not native English speaker).
I'm going to have to disagree. Jermaine did sing well, but he didn't have the range Michael did, at all.
Супер MJ взял па на подтанцовку а он как выстрельнул прямо затмил собою все и вся А чтобы было если бы не нужна была подтанцовка и не было DJ 5 попал бы он на сцену но это была бы уже совсем другая история

just give the mike to michael boys and let him entertain us
The title song That's how love goes wasn't a hit for Jermaine but the title song was great for Janet
It was a hit for him. It was a top 30 hit on the Billboard hot 100 and back then having a top 40 hit was pretty much a hit. That might be not a significant feat in today's time but it was something back then.
