A very effective movie. It does a good job of weaving the history of Hart Island with a creepy story and in a way that's different from what most movies of this type might try to do (i.e. ghosts or zombies). Plus, how can you go wrong with Malcolm McDowell?

I used Google Maps to find Hart Island, and it showed other interesting islands include a lighthouse island. Two other NYC islands that were not mentioned in the movie was Fire Island near Coney Island.
Good movie. This is the first film l watched about people dying in the streets and were often unidentified. It's very sad. And It's good that this film talken about the subject.

I went to French Guiana where i lived for a year and worked very hard in restaurants until late at night to pay my plane ticket to come to France, where for a long time it was difficult but It's going well now. I living in Paris. This film also talks about undocumented immigrants who die anonymously. And I also really liked the character of the woman who investigates the anonymous deaths and who was found in the streets, and is sensitive to the anonymous deaths in the streets. ❤❤

Great film! Reminded me of The Prince of Darkness in its atmospheric creepiness. The fact that such a horrible place exists just off Manhattan is just disturbing.

The lady cop and Tony, the convict, reconciled their differences in the last 20 seconds of the movie. Their relationship was the undercurrent of the whole movie, the love interest that needed to be requited. lol
The screenwriter wanted to make the point that the insects (flies and worms) chose their targets selectively, even at the cost of inconsistency in the story. This was to prepare the viewers for the insects' attack on Rupert KIng while ignoring two other person standing a few feet away from him. Remember the pouch of chewing tobacco of the ferry captain. The worms didn't attack his skin, but the pouch of tobacco that he put into his cheek to chew on; so, the insects could not only target an individual, but play a bizarre joke by tricking him to chew the tasty worms. lol
It's an ok movie. I don't like when music gets played loud intermittently during movies, no matter what genre. It's pretty slow but worth a watch if you're bored. Thanks for sharing it though because it at least kept my interest. Blessings of love and light to all.

The NYC skyline still has the twin towers in this one. In 1984 i visited NYC. I went up in the towers. Little did I know that in less than 20 years they would be nomore.
This movie is terrible. Its not a horror film or even a thriller. It is basically a bunch of unrelated people running around a scrap of land for an hour. Including some prisoners, one of whom has the absolute worst fake sharpie face tatts I have ever seen. Theres some woman, whose purpose I never discover. The set director has never seen a maggot and bought huge mealworms instead. Malcolm McDowell obvs had to pay his mortgage that month. And then bees. Or flies or some swarm of something. I gave up at that point.
0.40 sad knowing that a year the latter those tall building would come down & many innocent lives lost in one of the worst terrorist attacks on American soil !

It stars off very slow but slowly builds up the tension, more gore than slasher but good,.
malcolm mcdowell did some sleepers. I'd recommend one called the barber if you enjoy his work
