why do people base quality on speed, and not functionality and/or reliability. Does families with like 5 kids really go out racing every drive to the grocery store?

Yes you are right they will not go out racing but they need good machine for a long distance journey like me you need something that will get up and go something when you step on the gass it will answer by so doing the journey get exiting
my parents just bought a 2014 4unner sr5 premium and it totally kicks ass here in Colorado
I’ve had a 2013 SR5 model since 40k miles and just passed 100k miles a couple weeks ago. All I have done was oil changes, I just did transmission fluid flushed and a new set of tires, ohh and a driver side signal bulb. These trucks are so reliable!!! Who cares about 0-60 😄
This is an SUV not a sport car ... your review really is pointless.
hey bro.. car and driver said 8.9 seconds.. and the "eco mode" as you put it is just a reminder light to keep the foot light on the throttle, it does nothing else.

There is no "Sport" mode. The transmission "S" position is Sequential Mode. This allows for semi-manual up and down shifting by moving the shifter forward or rearward. "Selecting shift ranges using S mode restricts the upper limit of the possible gear ranges, controls engine braking forces, and prevents unnecessary upshifting"
The new facelift on the 2014+ models are so ugly! The 2010-2013 4Runners were better looking. Wish they offered a manual transmission too.

Think Toyota really should’ve offered the 4.6 V8 in these as an option for those who’d want not only off-road capability, but also off the line power on public roads! I have a 2003 4Runner with the 4.7 V8, use the recommended 91 grade fuel and live at 4500ft elevation.. 0-60 in 7ish seconds. 297k on the clock also 😂
Why does it matter how fast it is 0-60? Are the owners going to floor it to get to 60 in everyday use? No
Not sure how you got such poor times. I've had a 2011 Trail edition and now have a 2013 Trail. I've unofficially timed both at just under 8 seconds. Which is more than adequate since I do actually off-road. I think the 2014 is uglier in the front. They did away with the blackout treatments on the Trail models and that actually helps the appearance of mine. A big flaw on all 4Runners for those that do off-road is the crappy rubber that come with. I upgraded to Nitto ATs on my latest vehicle and I have more confidence that I won't get stuck or get a flat when in the boonies. I love the reliability and durability of 4Runners over especially jeeps and I will continue to obtain 4Runners.

I just traded in my SR5 2013 for a SR5 2014 premium package 4x4, I do like better the front end on the 2013, but many others new details on the 2014 make it much better than the 2013.

This guys are beyond ignorant they just made a video of SUVS from 0-60 LOL common sense would be offroading testing, MPG, comfortability, tech, how it actually drives, interior etc......even though this is not a review, making just a video from 0-60 on a SUV its insane.

I am pretty sure the "ECO Mode" is just an indicator on the dash to help you keep your foot out of it. At least that's what it is in my 2011 4runner Trail (that I LOVE by the way) :D TUG OF WAR!!!! I'm really hoping the trail is in 4lo and locked for that...

This motor really wakes up at about 30k miles. Iv found the same thing with allot of Toyota’s.
Your results are 'wrong' - the 4Runner '10+ runs 0-60 in 7.9 from Toyota - Independent testing has shown down to 7.5 from very well respected organizations - the 'issue' here is your elevation - that plays a huge role - sea level vs over 5k up easily will account for that difference. However, for those that do not know that fact your test is very misleading.

Hi Roman, can you please take the 2014 limited to your usual off-road course, I wanna know how it handles the trail. I am planing to buy an SUV soon but don't know what to pick, the 4runner limited or the Grand Cherokee Overland. Off-road capability + comfort/luxury matters to me. Thanks Pall
You're going to want the GC. The 4Runner, shares the Jeep's off-road aptitude, but it doesn't offer a V8 or diesel option, and its interior simply isn't as nice.

WOW, 10+ seconds??? my 3.5L AWD Highlander gets 7.5 seconds, OOO ya, im at 2000ft above sea level, seems silly to judge performance in a place over 5000ft above sea level, just saying

Yeah. I have a 96 4runner limited (V6 3.4L). Purchased back in 2008 w/64k, she now has 156k an i'm the 2nd owner probable wont get rid of it. I also have a 2004 v8 limited w/xreas (145k) probable wont get rid of this one also because they don't make 4runners or tacoma's with a V8.

I have a 2006 v8 4runner with 265 hp and 320 of torque faster than 10 seconds to 60 even in that altititude and great mpg ..why is that because of weight....maybe you should try doing this comparison, and how can an older model perform better!!
Blimey, my old 05 pathfinder does 0-60 in 7.7 with 157000 on the clock. I wonder what the 4runner would do at sea level.

he is lying i have one is 2013 it's not that slow it does 7.7 even it is written in the manual book it start slow but picks up fast when you push on the gas pedal my 4runner is in my garage i take care of it it's my baby i keeps it's value it only has 30,000 miles it's worth 38,000

I like your vids, but really whats the point in 0-60 @ 1 mile above sea level??? All cars lack power in thinner air. 95% of us live well below mile high. It seems as if you bash all autos when you make this particular 0-60 test.. I don't get it!! So Misleading!!

A lot of bashing of the 0-60 test, but try squeezing onto a busy highway from a ramp where people are all going 70+ mph, and a loser next to you won't give you a chance to get in, you sure as hell won't beat him to get in in front of him. Try waiting in a red traffic light, and see in your rear view mirror, a car charging right into your rear end full speed because he or she is not paying attention to the road, but your only chance is to floor the pedal to steer out of the way to avoid yourself getting hit. If your car is slow, good luck on getting out of the way quickly.

if u are intelginet, just buy the front(headlamps,grill,bumper,maybe the hood and fenders of the 2016, and replace it with the 2009 front simple. i just change the front , and the rear tailight also, of my 2009 landcruiser with the 2016..and paint it again
Am I the only one that on the 2014, the Toyota logo on the front looks a little awkward in the middle?? I like the logo on the 2013 model how it's on the crossbar. Just my preference.

TFLC really must do something with the sound quality, its horrible, when I watched a video before TFLC, the sound is so clean but the minute I play any TFLC video, I cant stand it, its noisy, loud, not very good quality

This is slow, my 98 Ford Explore is faster with less power. The 4.0 in this 4Runner sounds good but has no go, I blame the transmission more than the engine.
Regardless of weight and altitude. There is an 16 year old engineering difference between the two vehicles. Plus The 4Runner has more power and the same amount of gears. The transmission is not efficient.

No. Projector beam headlights are designed to project more light onto the road then regular reflector headlights. Plus they're both halogen so one isn't really bright than the other.
Its true, I own a 2013 for some reason headlights are brighter than those projectors yellowish color.

Well you should say the same about Chevy since the Tahoe is obscenely expensive and yet in three years you lose over 40% of it's value . I would rather have a 4Runner over a Tahoe any day even though I have mayor gripes about it like it's crap-tacular sound system and it's third row seat which is a joke in my view. There are quite a few things that I like the new Tahoe (a new third row seat is one of them) but let's be realistic, there are other vehicles that can do a better job than a Tahoe.
