When racing, how do you ensure you only remove one tear off and not 3 or 4?

I have purchased an replica of the Ayrton Senna helmet and i want to apply tear offs to add some realism.
I see hundreds of video’s where the buttons are already there, but none how to actually install the buttons.
Do i just drill two holes in the visor? Or does it ‘break easily?
