Before you clear coat, put coffee in a spray bottle or sprayer and mist it on top of the stain for a speckled affect. We did in our place!
That sounds very cool indeed!
I Hope they see this comment before they clear coat. I'm going to be doing the same technique on our floors, how has yours held up?
@@krickette5569 amazingly! I wish you could share pictures
Did you use acid stain, then spray with the coffee?
I like it as it is now, but it's for them to choose :)
I think Peaches needs a "piggy door". 😂😂😂
That's a great idea for after the kitties can come and go from the barn.
Are you serious?
LOL
Good morning. Hey Brooke I sew a lot of valances and curtains for folks. When you measure the width of your curtain or valance e.g. the window is 50" wide cut your material twice that 100" wide. This will make a lovely thicker ruffle. :) Yours look great though so I was just offering up some measure and cut info. Love the color pop for you!
I actually like the way Brooke did it better, just the exact way looks perfect!
Desired style and light filtering leval determines the fullness of the fabric. Also, important to consider the environment & use of the space, dust levals & how much time/ effort you want to pay attention to removing dirt and dust are important considerations. The heavier fabric the heavier dust build-up. ❤ I subscribe to the K.i.s.s. (kiss) method for life- keep it simple sweetie 😊.
South Texas where it never rains we are going on day 4 of constant rain.
🙌🙌💪
Here in Central Texas.we are still getting very little rain.
Im from South East Texas to! But I'm loving the rain!
South West Texas is getting alot of rain as well for the last 3 days 🌦
The milking parlor floor is like magic, all done with Iron, Coffee, and water. I can hardly wait to see it sealed! Peaches is so cute, asleep in the shavings. But, snuggled up to her old bed. And the kitties! How sweet, to see them cuddled together. A eal CATagory 3 PURRicane!!
Good morning Jason and Brooke, the Kitties have been talking with Peaches, telling her how cozy the inside of the barn is on damp, rainy days. Peaches and the Kitties are living their best lives. The Milking Room is looking great, a little Knowledge and Elbow Grease goes a long way, the Smile on Brookes face says it all, the Cog Hill Collective Palace just keeps getting better and better. 😀👍👍👍
I love the name The Pet Palace!!
Rebecca from Oregon here Jason:-) I never stained a floor BUT!!!! I’ve redone a floor using brown paper bags torn up! It looks amazing! If you’ve never heard of it google it! It looks like leather!
I used tea to stain my garage floor. (This is permanent!) First, I made two gallons of very strong tea. I used one gallon to apply a first coat. I then reduced the second gallon to 1 quart and applied this with a rag, rubbing it off in some area to create contrast. I let this dry overnight and then applied a sealer. This really turned out gorgeous. 😊
I didn’t realize that cement floors could be stained using coffee beans! The milk parlor is looking so nice. Great job you two!!!
Was wondering how black walnuts would work for stain on the floor, too? Your ingredients sound like they will give a nice color, too! Peaches was looking to get to that pile of shavings ever since you put the bed on top of them! Looks better than plain concrete! Good job!
Black Walnuts will give a blacker stain
Did you see the kitty trying to come in the cat door while Jason was talking about staining the floor? So cute. They do know how to use it.
I live in Florida, and one thing about our well water here is it has a high iron content. So, our concrete and just about everything else will stain from our irrigation system!! This is a great idea!! How neat that you did a signature touch with Cog Hill coffee!!!
Great news that you have been getting the rain that you so desperately needed. The floors look great also. It's nice to know you didn't have to worry about removing the cats or not letting Peaches into the barn. I think Peaches absolutely loves the stall inside of the barn. She seems very happy and content sleeping in there. I have a feeling you can give the dogs the cot. She seems to love sleeping burrowed into the shavings or straw.
That floor turned out so nice! I’m happy y’all did it with the “safe” mix! You know what I’m looking forward to? I wanna see Brooke milk a goat!❤❤❤
Floor looks incredible!!! Did you notice at the 7.56 minute mark where the kitty is trying to get through the kitty door? So sweet. Love the kitten cluster on the swing. 😻😻😻
When all the kitties snuggled up together it's a 12 Paw Pileup. Lol
Sylvester was so cute doing his thing to get through ❤❤❤
When we did our shed floor for the model railroad we used the same idea but added real rust dust from some of the rust chips we collected and crushed after restoring some of the old, rusted and left in the weather farm machinery we found over the years. Then we sprinkled the iron around while it was dry in a disorganized hand thrown mess and used the water of the very, very strong coffee to soak everything into the floor.
We chucked it all down, let it flow and puddle naturally for a week to dry.
Then we swept and sealed the whole floor and left it dry for another week
The model room floor always gets positive comments from visitors.
The randomness of the pattern was deliberate and the colors are STRONG with all sorts of shades of orange, yellow through rust brown and even a couple spots looking deep maroon or red.
The Milk Room floor looks Amazing! You 2 lovebirds work so well together. You give Michael Angelo & Picasso a Run for their money with their Alfresco Art. Can't wait to see the finished Artwork. Because that is Exactly what it is. ART. ❤
I love your vlogs when the two of you do them together!! I wish all of them included both of you Brooke's too!
I love your non-toxic floor color technique. I can't wait for the clear coat so we can see the final color. 💜🐾
Well done Brooke, you are not scared to try something different, looks great
I really think peaches liked being inside the barn all snuggled up in the straw in the bed she made. There’s nothing cuter than all the cats up on the swing all together. I think they would love an old blanket or some type of throw or something they can all snuggle all up on when it’s cold. I really like how the milk room floor came out.
Jason, you and Brooke are doing a wonderful job! I think the milk room is gonna look great when it’s finished. I believe the fall garden is also gonna look great. Y’all work together so good! Thank y’all for sharing it all with us! Peaches really looked cozy and comfortable in the bed she made. Much love to y’all and the animals! God Bless 🙏❤️✝️🥰🤗💖🇺🇸💪🙏
It just dawned on me that perhaps Peaches was using the propped bed as a back support(?)
They have a side door that opens to the barn where he parked the side by side he was driving also they will park Brookes Big O there at some point.. the door don't go into any stall just the barn it is on the side by the road..
I have never seen Peachies so alert and interested in her surroundings as I have since she’s moved from the old area! She’s sweet. Are Loretta and Gus eventually coming over too?❤
I doubt they will be with Peaches, they tried putting Loretta and Peaches together and Peaches does not enjoy other pigs. They had a male pig friend for Peaches years ago and she hated him.
Amazing. The perfect color without using the toxic stuff and with Farm Boss Peaches right there to supervise (in her own way). Hooray for Brooke's research. Cog Hill Coffee turns out to be the ideal shade for the milk room floor.🐈⬛🐈⬛🐈⬛🐷🖌🪣☕🤎🧡🤎👩❤👨
Im getting ready to finish my concrete floors in my house Im going to do this! Thank you so much for the great idea Ive been searching for non toxic solution and will save me a lot of money thank you soooooo much you are such a blessing to me!
What a perfect pair Brooke and Jason are....Cute! Cute! Cute!
Could Peachie be any cuter? 💖💖💖 She loves her place in the barn. She seems so happy. ❤ AND, floor looks great. Good job! 👍
She is the prima-donna! She really likes a clean soft place to live/sleep! So different from the other two! LOL! Love the floor! Who knew such simple ingredients would work so well?
You guys are so cool and so creative. Love it.😊😊😊
The floor is going to be so pretty !! Peaches is so precious and is loving her new stalls and going where ever she wants to go ! She looks slimmer and seems more mobile.
I was thinking the same thing. Peaches is slimmer and looks amazing. I think that's why she's getting around much better with some of that weight off. She's beautiful!
😮 Wow 🤩 floor looks amazing ! I love the fact that it’s natural too ☕️
Floor looks real nice. And I loved that it took no chemicals. Happy you are getting the rain you needed. Have a nice week. 🥰
Hey Jason, Add a nice bottle of cheap red wine to the floor brew, if you want a nice purple tint to the stain. Once you put the sealer on it, it will hold up. Keep the sealer on it and it will last for years. The change in the floor you got is really nice. I'd go darker myself, but it's all what you like. Good luck getting a nice color.
So interesting to see the floor stain project working out; very nice. The three kitties are precious indeed! And "PP" obviously loves her soft shavings for her bed. She looks healthy and happy, as a farm boss should.🐖🍑🍑😉💓
Wonderful floor & I love how Peaches wanted in her stall
Every time I see you opening those big barn doors I wish there was a handle!! The floor is just amazing! You two are certainly industrious and do a terrific job on everything you do.....you know that I am a vicarious farmer and you two make my day!
I love it too. I like the idea of using coffee and iron and it being chemical free. It was a good idea. Keep up the good work guys. The farm is coming along and looking really good.
I think Peaches likes her new digs😂.She seems to roam around more! Hugs from Missouri 😊❤. Floor is amazing!!
I can't believe how beautiful the floor in the milking room turned out. Blessings.
Wow, the milk room floor looks great. Ya all did good. Also, Peaches looks so happy in her barn room stall. I love seeing your kitties too. They are some fine barn cats. More like Taj Mahal cats. Ha. 💞
I've never seen a floor done like that but I think it looks absolutely beautiful❤ nice job
What a beautiful floor.
I've always wanted to convert an old barn to a home. If I ever do it, I want a concrete (stained this way) ground floor . I decorate very primitive, antique/ vintage and this color floor would complement all of that
Mayby you can put a fleece blanket for the kitty's in the barn and a large basket 😊❤
I stained my wood threshold with tea to make a pine board perfectly match my wood floor and it came out great.
Hey there Cog Hill Farm 🚜 I can't lie, I had doubts about the floor at 1st! After the 2nd application I knew it was going to look fabulous! Great job❤
WOW! That was incredible to see. Never thought of using natural ingredients to stain concrete, what a wonderful thing to use. Can hardly see what it’s finished look. ❤❤
That really pulled the wood colors matching the floor together. It flows beautifully.
A light rain is best after a long dry spell.
I love the floors! It's awesome that you could do that without the harsh chemicals of the acid stain! So happy you love it too!
What a clever way to stain the floor! Looks terrific!
You guys are just beautiful ❤ You put smiles on so many peoples faces, I hope you know that.
Thank you for you. 🙏🏻🌻🌻🌻
Your wood walls & the floors all blend together very nicely. Nice job!!!
We stained cloth with iron, coffee and some flowers. It makes beautiful coloured patterns. I was quite surprised.
My black cat weighs 18lbs. He doesn't look like it, but you feel it when he decides to sit on you. LOL
Another great application for used coffee grounds is to sprinkle them in outdoor planters. This keeps ants away. I've done this for years with great success. Hello from south Texas where it's chilly and raining for a change. 💜🐝🐞🦎🌵🌻
Floor looks awesome ❤👍Love the kitty snuggle party🥰👍
The boys are going to be huge. I had a laugh as they are both currently around the same weight as my tiny senior male siamese cross.
Glad the floor turned out well. I told the folks of the Nomadic Movement about your coffee brand. They are on a trip to cover all 48 states and give away a bag of their coffee. They are Jordan, Kayleigh and their two year old daughter, Sadie from Panama and Boston. They have a roastery in Stowe, vermont.
WOW!!! It looks AMAZING!!! Thank you for sharing the idea and recipe with us. This is Beautiful! I loved the excitement in Brookes face when you were about to show her! The color compliments the walls!
Glad y'all are getting the much needed rain! Even though it's slow maybe it'll help your pond a little!
Have a great week!
The floor is going to be beautiful! The natural staining looks wonderful! 💖💖💖
OOOOOO That floor with a little copper fleck before you clear coat would be AMAZING! GREAT JOB!
The floor is beautiful, I love the color….not surprised that it turned out so well, you’re both amazing at everything
The milkroom floor looks fantastic. Can't wait until you have your curtains around the counter. Another great job.
Floor looks great. Can’t wait to see it completely finished. I like Alicia Hill’s idea too.
Until the goats are ready to milk, that milk room would make a great Break Room for cooling off in the hot summer chores! After the kitties are acclimated to the great outdoors, a picnic table and fridge inside and a barbeque outside and you'd be set! When the goats are in milk, you just move room picnic table outside by the bbq (away from nibbling creatures). I used a rake handle and magnet disc to pick up buckets and buckets of nails from our construction sites to keep the nails from leaving rust spots on the new concrete slabs. That nail rust stain is very permanent :)
I am always tickled when I see you have posted a video!
Hey Jason please show a close-up of all the little cats faces. I saw them just briefly a week ago or so and they were so beautiful all of them but the footage was very brief.
Surprising how all 3 looked to be perfect. They had the most prettiest little darling intelligent faces.
Ohhh I love cats. XXX
Oh my goodness, how cool is that floor! GREAT JOB with tour research Brooke! You taught us all something new today. Can't wait to see the sealer on it! So thrilled you're so happy. OXOXO to you and all your family and animals ❣️
I have never dyed concrete but we use coffee to dye linens and threads in needlework to make it look old.
I Pet my plants, flowers, pets, etc. Often! Petting, breathing on them and singing to my gardens makes them become sssooo beautiful, bright colors, aroma and seem to have many more flowering buds that spring forward! Bubble Bees especially love my Rose of Sharon flowering bushes, lilacs have a stronger aroma etc.! My neighbor said that while I was hospitalized NOTHING blossomed! I LOVE GARDENS! A touch of Heaven!
Touch all living entities to bring forth true goodness!
Jason I love the floor it looks really great. Put a clearcoat on that and it’s gonna look fabulous.
I love it too!! I can't wait for the shiny clear coat!! This was a good one Jason and Brooke, because you always give us your projects and animals ❤️
It looks so great with wood, tin and curtains. They all mingle together. Great choice.
Great job guys. Peaches can take a nap because she is the Boss lady. 🐖
I've stained a barn style door with a natural stain to look close to cedar. Mason jar filled with tea, vinegar, a steel wool inside. Turned out great.
What a wonderful project! This content is so fun and very useful with a money saving element. Tell Brooke she is brilliant! LOL
Great fall/ winter garden Jason. Enjoying your videos. So educational thank you for sharing ❤️ 💕 😊 💖 🙏 ☺️
Oh Gardenas smell so amazing and honeysuckle 💜✝️💜
Peaches loves her alone time. The floor looks great.
That's great 👍 well done!👏
Beetroot might also help staining. It just depends what colour you want.
This is lovely.
I expect it looks even better in reality.
Cameras never do justice to colours.
Good job 👏
Always love to watch Jason talking and petting Peaches. I can see how she enjoys it too ❤
Floor compliments the different shades on the wall. Great job, can’t wait to see what the floor looks like with sealer
This is where I really appreciate the entertainment (and education) value of UA-cam. Thank you for taking this on. I am thinking (yeah, a stretch by me) that doubling or even tripling the coffee would be more to my liking when I try it but that's me. It looks like doing multiple coats of varying strengths (heavier in some spots) would give even a more interesting marble affect. I can imagine a lot of homd stores are going to have a run on iron granules this month 😁. I'm gonna same my leftover brewed coffee starting tomorrow !
That is amazing how that floor turned out!!..it’s beautiful..can’t wait to see the sealer on it..that’s going to pop!!..WOW !!!..I wish I could find roses on the side of the road like u did..I’ve looked ever since u dug those up!!.li love how the kitties lay together..the boys protecting lil sissy!!🩷🙏🩷🙏
Floor looks amazing. What a great idea. Trust the wife!
Peaches is a diva, she's adorable tho. The floor is going to look great, in fact it's looking good now
It looks like leather or suede to me very similar to Brooke’s jacket. Beautiful floor! Absolutely gorgeous!!!! 🥰❤️🙏🏻🍁🇨🇦
Add more Coffee water in a Spray Bottle like the person before me said! That would look Awesome! My Step daughter did their Garage that way and it was so pretty! It was Speckled and added depth to it! Try it!
OMG the floor is beautiful, was really surprised that it worked as well as it did, great job Brook & Jason
What a great idea to stain with coffee and iron! It is beautiful and goes so well in the milk room! A great rainy day project!🤗💖
I like the idea of spraying the coffee water on it to create speckles. It looks so great!
The floors are looking great! Can't wait to see them sealed! Peaches wanted to sleep in the hay over that soft mat! The kittens have grown so much! Love to see them piled up on the swing!
I love it it matches the walls perfectly, the seal is going to be the cherry on top ❤
Floor is beautiful. Plants are wonderful. So glad you finally got rain. Slow rain is the best for dry ground, it will soak into your ground easily. Happy Day❤😊
Wow 🤩 I never would have imagined you could do floors like that. It really turned out great and I noticed fire Jason said it that it had gotten darker when Brooke came to see it. I really hope y’all show it again in the next video so we can see it once it’s fully dried. Thanks for sharing y’all be good!!! ❤
Jason I enjoyed seeing the flowers. Y'all did a great job on the floor. As it dries more it is going to pop. Oh those kittens look so precious on the swing. Enjoyed and thanks.
I love the natural look of the stain you put on the Milk Room floor.
I’m so impatient I’d have dumped the entire bucket on the floor and let it soak in 🤣🤣🤣 Looks great! Interesting ingredients. I’m glad yall got what you wanted.
Hey! Good morning and it looks awesome!
Good morning!
Glad Y'all got some rain. The floor looks good. Peaches sure seems to enjoy her stall.
The floor looks beautiful! We used natural items to dye fabric & etc before all of the chemicals so it makes sense to use them today!
I think it looks perfect with the clear coat it’s gonna be absolutely beautiful
Your floor looks great!
I can't wait to see the floor after the sealant is applied! Nice going you guys!
I think it turned out Beautiful. I am happy that it's exactly what you wanted! Lots of organic movement it the coloring which I really like.
