      I used your coupon it really did save me 10% it worked thank you so much I got the 3x4 sander with vac long flexible hose extra grit pack and hose adapter. Thank you so much can’t wait to get it in the mail. Really excited going to use it for wood moldings. I was exactly in your shoes all I had was a DEWALT orbital sander working hard to sand moldings. Taking days and nights just hand sanding where I couldn’t get the orbital. Looks like I have a lot of work to do when the sander gets delivered thanks for the post

      @@st7650 Yes it works! That’s awesome! There is a little bit of a learning curve with it (learning which paper, screen, foam pad to use), but it’s an awesome addition and I’m sure you will love it! Thank you for watching and happy sanding! 😀

      Thank you. Yes it’s a costly investment, its one I couldn’t run my business without, but I do this everyday and so it pays for itself in the type of jobs I can take in and the time it saves me. Thank you!

      To be honest, you can get a Festool RTS400 for $280, using the Surfprerp’s foam pads made for the Festool and you get a better result for 1/2 the money… just my opinion.

      I have not. I have a festool CT midi dust collection system so I don’t really need to get another at this point. I’m so glad - I love mine too and couldn’t imagine not having it! 😀

    So it sounds like it's more about the foam pads and less about the actual sander?

    • @BorninaBarnBoutique
      @BorninaBarnBoutique  2 роки тому +1

      It’s both actually. It’s different than other sanders as far as vibration/motion and power as well.

    I’m considering ordering this. Curious to know why you chose this over the 5” orbital? I’m so confused. 😔

    • @BorninaBarnBoutique
      @BorninaBarnBoutique  4 роки тому +1

      Marianne DeAngelo oh for sure it’s a big investment - I have a good orbital, I wanted something that I could do curves and intricate details as well as with the 3x4 you can get in places a round orbital can’t being rectangle. He orbital will take down edges, round edges flat, this will not. They have different pads, films, paper, it’s a whole different ballgame. Worth the investment - takes a bit to learn the different ways you can use - buts it’s awesome!

    At this point, are you using the Surfprep more than your DeWalt sander? I just started a side business refurbishing/painting furniture and wondering if this is a good investment as a beginner or if I should wait and see how my new business goes. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated. Thank you Kim! I love your videos and have learned so much from you.

    • @BorninaBarnBoutique
      @BorninaBarnBoutique  3 роки тому +1

      Ok so I retired my Dewalt a while ago and invested/upgraded to a mirka orbital. However, the Surfprep 3x4 ray sander is more of a finish sander - you would still want an orbital sander in your tool box! I wouldn’t recommend putting out the money for a Surfprep in the beginning - it’s a big investment and I use my orbital way more than the Surfprep. The orbital is best for removing finish to stain, it’s a more powerful and useful tool to have! You are most welcome! Thank you for watching!

    Do you think Festool rectangle sander 3"x5" would do good detail sanding as surfprep? It's only 1/2 price compared to surfprep. Surprep has foam pads size for festool sander too. I am thinking of getting a festool.

    • @BorninaBarnBoutique
      @BorninaBarnBoutique  3 роки тому

      You know because I don’t have a festool and haven’t ever used one, I can’t really speak about them and how they compare to the surfprep unfortunately. 😀

      This one is oscillating. The festool isn't. Festool is linear sander and just goes back and forth.

      My husband made the stand for me and the orange bucket is a homer bucket from Home Depot as well they sell the special lid just for this. The shop vac is Rigid from Home Depot as well. One hose to the vac to bucket, one hose from the sander to the bucket.

    would you be kind enough to share your dust setup system design? I am curious.

    • @BorninaBarnBoutique
      @BorninaBarnBoutique  Рік тому

      So this was my old setup - I no longer have - but it is an easy system! It is shop vac, an attachment that I got at the woodworking store and a bucket - my husband had built the stand it was on. I have since upgraded to a dust collection system by Festool!

      @BorninaBarnBoutique  4 місяці тому

      Still love it and use it all the time. It is a game changer for a refinisher. Having the dust collection system is essential in my opion - I have a Festool CT MIDI (Surfprep made a vac system years later after I bought mine) and although I don't have the surfprep vac I hear great things about it

    I just recently received my sander. I would love to have a vacuum system but not quite sure how to do that. Would you share exactly how yours is set up so I know what to order? My husband is pretty handy and pretty sure it could do this for me:)

    • @BorninaBarnBoutique
      @BorninaBarnBoutique  4 роки тому +1

      Pamela McRoy hi. My recommendation is to call Surfprep - they will tell you what hoses you need for your exact setup. Mine is a rigid shop vac with a homer bucket and special order dust collection top from Home Depot and the you have to have the right hose from you sander to the dust collection outlet. If you email me I can send you a pic of my setup. But I would recommend calling Surfprep they are very helpful and each persons setup may be different

      If the best part of the surfprep sander is the foam sanding pad...Wud that foam 3x4 pad work with a 3x4 Regular Electric sander

    • @BorninaBarnBoutique
      @BorninaBarnBoutique  3 роки тому +1

      @@debraneria4242 it’s not just the pads that are great. The sander is low vibration, better power, etc. I honestly don’t know - I haven’t ever tried that so I can’t say for sure.

    I didn’t care for the surf prep. I hope they can take it back…. I guess I prefer the Festool line overall. To me they seem to be better overall. I was very underwhelmed when I used the Surfprep. ☹️
