How can anyone not love Captain and Tennille? They put out some really catchy and danceable tunes. And they make you feel happy. What's not to love? Teenagers everywhere wanted to dance to this. I know I did lol. And I always caught them on TV to hear the latest tunes they put out. Fun memory of a better time. I'll take that memory and run with it lol. ☺💛❤💜💙
Ohh Boy! Wat a Classic👍Memory! I used 2 ❤ Captain& Tenille.👍👱♀️🤠 I Remember This Super Song👍🎵🎵. Wen I was in My Teens! I always Heard it On the📻. All The Time! Really Loved it.👍👍🤠👱♀️🎤🎵🎵❤. And Its Very Classic, too.
I was born in 1971 and remember this song all over the radio and television back in the mid 1970's and I loved it...I loved singing to it then and NOW in 2023!
Brilliant timing, happened upon you accidentally!!! Captain and Tenille, all of a sudden I am in my teens dancing in my Mom and Dad's living room with my sisters 🥰 It's been forever since I've heard this song; blast from the past❤️☸️🌈
Back when anything you wore was cool... knee high striped sox, jox or converse gym shoes, cut off sweat shirt. And can't forget the girls wearing that bob haircut that was never out of place. Looking forward to payday on Friday and Saturday night tv lineup and all of the variety shows... it seemed like EVERYTHING that came out was brand new. Yes I grew up on AM Gold with Wolf Man Jack...😁🤣🥰🤦🏽♂️
OMG, you've been on a roll and this is no exception, wow! I remember listening to this on AM radio and I also remember a Spanish version as well. You are knocking these out of the park , keep it comin' . Yasss. My track for this duo is The Way I want To Touch you so, I hope you do that one up as well. Kudos Dj, you are Rockstar!
Without a doubt one of the catchiest singles of the mid-Seventies. Although C&T are undeniably very MOR, This song and track has just enough rock n roll to make it a hit across the board. 😀✌️
Written by the legendary Neil Sedaka. The song was recorded by UK brother and sister duo Mac & Kate Kissoon in 1973 but failed to chart. The Captain & Tennille cover was a massive Billboard hot 100 No1 in 1975 but stalled at No32 in the UK.
Classic bouncy, catchy Sedaka song only he could do.. Bubblegum Pop 5 years out of time but worked so well! He hadn't had a hit for at least a decade before this then two at once in '75. Running about in my back garden with this on the transistor radio, that was my Summer '75 memory when I hear this.
I first heard this song in the summer of 1975, and it popped out of my radio like nobody's business. Wow. Talk about some serious Meow Mix. Thank you Disco Cat for this master work. Top notch!
Love music so much. Helps sooth the mind. It's like our souls that play it's part of life, echoing & flying through the universe. All our colors, coloring the world with amazing sights & our sounds. The way music travels through out the world touching everyone's heart, mind & soul.
Awesome car radio/ roller rink memories… ranks up there with Sir Duke ….or Strawberry Letter 23 (Shuggie)…..or Saturday Night (BCR)….you know how to pick em DJ. Pick on…….
This was the #1 song of 1975. It has so many great qualities, yet it seemed to face a backlash back when. The main keyboard line throughout is so good with accompanying bass (for example at 1:15). Another excellent remix.
Toni's two sister's did wonderful back up singing on this, and quite a few of their songs. I don't think they get the credit they deserve, so I wanted to mention it here.
I'm from Montgomery, and was in high school when this hit. I remember the clamor that arose because a woman from our town had the #1 record in the world.
Wow I didn't know I was 12 when this was released. It was played everywhere everybody like this song. This will B their only song everyone will remember them by. I love this song
@@DJDiscoCat I was saying is when U think of Captain N Tennille the first song that everyone will know is LOVE WILL KEEP US TOGETHER. I know they had many hits but Love was their biggest

I just found out through a documentary that the backup band to this tune is the same that recorded many the Beach Boys hits, Frank Sinatra, fifth dimension and many, many more. A bunch of studio musicians from LA that were called the wrecking crew, the cream of the crop at that time.
I love The Captain & Tennille's classic!!! Love Will Keep Us Together in 1975 great song!!!! The 70s never faded away!!!!! I love it!!!! Thanks so much for posting!!!! I love the 70s!!! The Captain and Tennille signed on with Casablanca Records, and their first album for that label was "Do That To Me One More Time" which included the title cut (another Top-40 hit and their last). They followed up with one more album (forget the title) and Casablanca Records folded up like a cheap suitcase. My favorite couple wound up going on nostalgia tours, and Toni Tennille cut a couple of solo albums. Sad to say, they got divorced and the Captain passed away. But what a time they had. They even had a summertime prime time show on ABC.
@@thomastarwater6035 Oh they did I forgot about that too!!! They was with A&M Records a long time right but why they switched record labels after that!!!!
@@shaheedturner3652 Ah, who can say? Probably Casablanca Records’ head guy what was in charge, Neil Bogart by name, made them a better offer. It happens sometimes. Brothers Johnson, Quincy Jones, Jeffrey Osborne, The Captain & Tennille and lots more too right!!! Getting dropped by major labels is a sure fire thing but when you're popularity in the music business seems lost in the shuffle is that right!!!
I became a Neil Sedaka fan as a child because my mom had some of his albums from the early '60s, then she played the daylights out Sedaka's Back after it came out. Every track on Sedaka's Back is solid (including HIS version of this song) , and most, if not all, are Sedaka/Greenfield or Sedaka/Cody compositions (side note: Cody has a partial performance of "Laughter in the Rain" here on UA-cam). I saw Sedaka and Captain & Tennille (at different times) with my mom in the '70s, and have been watching Sedaka on his UA-cam channel since the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020. The man is a national treasure.
There were not a lot of duos back in the day during this time. At least not that I can remember right now that was a long time ago. So they are memorable for that reason and the string of hits that they had. And the music lives on
