Oh no! I was still up and I missed the premiere… Any tips on how to root forsythia cuttings? I’ve tried for the last 2 years several times, but I never managed to make them strike…
Sad we did not get flowers yet still to cold so we are having easter with no flowers on any plant not evin the normal easter plants are in flower, wierd winter this one
Slowly getting my collection built back up.. I have a fukien tea about as big as yours.. I have started a Japanese maple I plucked out of the ground at work.. and some sort of boxwood seedling a got out of my dad's yard
Do you ever dip your cuttings in apple cider vinegar and cinnamon before putting them soil to help with rooting? I’ve heard that is an effective way of helping trees root.
I like glueing up cracked cheap ceramic pots with super glue, I think it adds character😁
Great idea!
Cool work and potting on the cuttings.
I love the beautiful spring flowers. 🌼🌼😊 They are very strong growers - roots and branches.
My gosh, some loud geese flying over. I guess it means spring time has come.
Blue and Gold… My favorite colors!!! 🏈 😂
Thanks Barb, I'm hoping your Pawpaw seeds do well!!!!
It's Ukraine's flag, isn't it? :)
Yes, the second pot definitely better. You can never have enough cow bell...😉☺
So true!
Nice little arrangement. Forsythia is a beautiful “weed”. Thanks, keep growing
Love all your work Nigel - never a frown !
That will be pretty next springtime!
Yes, this is definitely planting for the future!!
Well they are off to a good start! Thanks for sharing this !
Hi there great video as usual!
Good morning
Another question, Nigel… do you have a stool when you work in the glasshouse or do you kneel all the times? If so, how stoic!!! 😅
I kneel, I do have a foam pad on the floor!
@@TheBonsaiZone the love for bonsai is stronger than anything! Thank you Nigel!
@@TheBonsaiZone Good thing too! I recently gave my step dad a foam pad to kneel on. He suffers with his legs otherwise.
Big step forward!
Great to see the entire process. Can I ask why you added sand at the end? Thanks
It just help stop surface evaporation, it keeps the soil at a good moisture level by drawing up moisture, very similar to applying moss!

They ground layer easily and you might try cuttings in water?
Thanks, @@TheBonsaiZone ! I’ve got a few 15 cm long cuttings in water. No flowers, just a few leaves. 🤞this time they strike!
🇻🇳 hello
looks just like my mustache

Mines not got flowers either yet. Give it time and the plant will gain in strength every year
Nigel! where can I find such a rake/fork, like yours?
I'd like to know as well. 😊🤔
It was from a second hand store, I've never seen another!
@@TheBonsaiZone it almost looks like a vintage olive fork that someone bent into a root rake. 🤔

May have to end up getting another greenhouse

If my neighbour gives me some cuttings from their forsythia bush, how long before i get roots like what you are pruning here? Zone 3 in Prince George.
I have some forsythia cuttings in water. Would they root better in soil?
I think water would be just as good!!
A warning, Brother: These are pot-breakers. Prolific root growers! Speaking as one who has lost a blue pot.
Thanks for the warning!!

"Crackpot" Hahaha
I don't like forsythia eversince I learned that the flowers are cultured to be dry and do not produce nectar for bees. 😅
They look beautiful though
The chickadees eat the flower buds off our tree in the front garden, so it never flowers! The birds love it!
