I love Apple Crumble also. The apple mixture for this was delicious but I am going to tweak the crumble part slightly to make it a bit more clumpy.

Self-raising flour is used to keep the crumble topping more cakey and less dry.

I would just put some extra dollops of butter on top of the crumble before baking it

Mum used to always put a few dots of butter on top before she baked hers.
