      The thing most people don’t understand about being a personal trainer is it’s 90% mental. Anyone with a few years under their belt can show someone the proper way to use a barbell machine ect, but can you connect and motivate them? Can you come from experience of being broke , skinny and weak , overweight , tried multiple training systems , depression , anxiety low confidence , injury . Those are the people who make the best personal trainers not the guys that are jacked cause they always could afford food and steroids or little bikini girls who had that body their whole lives . Something to keep in mind

    I’m in the same boat. I got into law enforcement and been an officer for 5 years now. It’s stressful most of the times but I can handle the stress, the thing that stops me is that I only did this career because both my parents(my mom now retired) and my older brother are officers and i signed up thinking I didn’t have anything else to do or this was expected of me but now I don’t enjoy work anymore especially in today’s world. The times I am truly happy and get excited is when I know I’m going to the gym in the morning after I get off work, I fell in love with weight training after I got out of high school and to this day it’s still the best thing that I love to do. I want to get out of law enforcement and start a career that I actual love and enjoy🙌

      I say go for it! I'm in the same boat. Been working in law enforcement for the last 5 years as well, and it just doesn't make me happy anymore. Well there were ALOT of pigs violating people's rights when those dictator like covid lockdowns were going on. I think it's clear cops of lost alot of support from all the pro law and order people when they chose to harass and arrest Americans over masks or lockdowns instead of remaining true to their duty to the constitution and American people. As far as I know, the good cops get pushed out while the corruption continues..

    I’m a school counselor, so I have a lot of background on knowing how to work with people and supporting them. It’s also a-lot on my personality. I also love fitness and go straight to the gym after a long stressful day from work. My job can take a toll on me mentally and fitness keeps me sane. For years, I’ve got so many people come up to me to tell me I should be a trainer or ask if I am one and I’ve always considered it. I really want to consider it being a side hustle and see where it takes me.

Then I moved here to Colorado Springs and started a painting business. I’ve had it for eight years and I have done well for myself with a few good employees. But I’m losing my drive for it and thanking about going back to try to personal training. Thank you for this, I will be following mind pump for sure.

After the sacrifices demanded from working the health care lifestyle, (which not everyone experiences, some people do just show up, do the bare minimum and go home,) I am double glad to see this video. In my previous career the needs and demands of patients caused such a sacrifice of my own wellness. Now I know to plan accordingly once I am finished with my certification and training.

    • @ajharmiah2692
      @ajharmiah2692 3 роки тому +2

      Yes as you physically dont need to be there. You might not even do online pt, instead make online customised training and diet plans for your clients, they do thier workout in thier own freetime, and give feedback. You cant charge as much for doing this but you can get multiple clients to make up for it. But one problem i see with only doing online is that there is sooo much free content out there, youtube, google etc, where imo theres no real point in buying online plans.

    If you're working 8 sessions a day and work a full time job personal training + charge really low you're still making 8k a month(5 days a week x 4 weeks x 8 hours x $50 an hour). That's if you're a very cheap personal trainer. How would that be a low paying job?😅

      @youngsoki 3 роки тому +7

      im guessing theres some days with less than 8 sessions also they said its not back to back making it a 12 hour shift for 8 sessions even if u do that everyday not alot of people can keep up 60 hours shifts for a while

      I don’t know a single personal trainer doing 8 hours worth of sessions a day. For a start, I live in a small town and hardly anyone wants sessions in the middle of the day - it’s morning or after work with a big gap in the middle of the day. These conducting the sessions but then you have to design the session etc etc

  • @bane3991
    @bane3991 2 роки тому +6

    It depends how we define a lot of money. The average rate for a trainer by me is around 60 an hour. That's so much money. Of course sessions aren't back to back but if you work 4hrs per day you get 240 dollars. That is like making 30 dollars an hour for an 8hr shift. It's actually better in some ways because if you have your own business you can do it off the books so that isn't even being taxed.
    But it all depends how we define a lot of money. I talked to a guy a few months back and he said he makes 40 an hour, he thinks that is bad money.

    • @genises200
      @genises200 2 роки тому

      Also depends on their area too. If they are in Cali, they are getting crazy taxed. Low tax areas being a PT I'd pretty solid. Even more so if you split your living expensive with a roommate or significant other

    • @bane3991
      @bane3991 2 роки тому +1

      @@genises200 I think it mostly depends on the person. I live in an expensive area and 40 dollars is ridiculous money but the people who make it don't seem to think so. By me minimum wage is 15. If you make 15 that is shit money. 20 is decent. 25 is good. 30 is great. 40 is amazing. People live very expensive lifestyles so 40 is nothing for them.

      @@CarbonGearSolid You are right on point. I live on Long Island but NYC has become my 2nd home because my gf lives there and I sleep there frequently. People live luxury lifestyles, way beyond their means. I went to the doctor many many years ago and he told me he is struggling to get by. He has his own business. People can not manage their money correctly. I hear people making 200k and over a year complaining how bad it is. I would love to sit these guys down and see where the hell their money is going. I need financial reports. I have my finances down. I know where all my money is going. You would be shocked how much money gets lost if you do not manage it. It is not uncommon for 20,000 dollars to go completely missing. In some cases 60k can go completely missing believe it or not.

      Dude. Just go for it. Create a plan for the next 5 years once you grt all the certifications you want to obtain. Then just train a general selection of clients a private gym and not a giant corporate branch like planet fitness so you can ACTUALLY make a living. Then as you build a reputation start developing a niche for your brand of people you want to train (mine would be bodybuilding for the average person or someone competing with my own advice as to how they should approach it). Then you can create your own business while working at the gym so you can work at your own pace through online training and some in person training. That’s kinda what my plan is going to be.
      Edit: when I said private gym I mean you get a job there. Just wanted to clarify that.

    I've been in sales 5 years. Got into fitness hardcore the past 2 years. This all sounds so silly to me. Personal training is essentially sales. The time poor time management they're complaining about is their problem. There is no issue asking customers to respect your time as much you will respect theirs. If u cant do that, you simply don't have enough customers and need to market/prospect better. These guys found success through circumstance. Don't expect to watch this video and then go make a living for yourself doing personal training. If personal training was paying the bills, they wouldn't be doing these podcast, they're looking for exposure, don't be fooled.
