@@thomasstiglich3484 thanks. The set I got is from Bostitch. I haven't looked for options though. I don't use them much, but when I need them, they're gold!
That would leave a considerable amount of tension on the strut, and when you took the mount off, you'd probably be injured (or at least would need to pause for a change of underwear). The amount I compressed the spring is pretty much the minimum you can compress it and take it apart safely. There may be other styles of spring compressors that would work better on this particular strut, but mine got the job done.
Great video! Could you tell me the brand of the original front shock absorbers? Is maybe the SACHS 314 006? Glk 220 4matic 2014 - AMG pack premium. Thanks
I'm not sure if the shocks and struts on mine are the same as yours. I know mine were Sachs struts, but I tossed them without saving the part number. My 2011 does have the sport suspension option (code 486) which might mean different struts and shocks (not into tracking my MB SUV, so haven't drilled down that deeply). I can say that I'm really liking the Bilstein B4s though.
Another great video, Mark. Who makes that pass-through socket wrench?

What if you only compressed the springs by a couple inches instead of compressing so tight?
