Now I'm thinking about what it would take to put an actual 8080 emulator in the little MCU.

Wow, nice little project. Fancy retro vibes.
I would maybe add a little bit of randomness in the update timing in program zero, to make it a little more realistic as a running computer.
Regarding the white balance in the camera - when over exposing pixels in the camera sensor the color balance goes off. There is an overdose of red and a little of it leaks into the green pixels, as the color filters in front of the pixels are not perfect. Just like with any band pass filter.
Under low light the LED gives maybe 80% signal in the red pixel and say 5% in the green pixel. Which shows up as red. When over exposing, this goes up to say 800% of red and 50% of green. But red can’t go beyond 100% so there is 100% red and 50% green coming off the camera sensor. That mixture is orange/yellow. Nothing the white balance control can correct for.

So, is a tiny David gonna ring up a tiny "Joshua" and play a tiny game of Global Thermonuclear War?🤔😀

Has anyone ever told you that your voice sounds very much like the guy from the Usagi Electric channel? Cool project though!! NICE!

Getting the stencil too... you're all ready for production runs now. Need a trainee to load 'em up.
PS Add a voice synthesizer for some movie time quotes!

Now someone needs to write an 8080 emulator for that chip.

Back in the day you could have used standard 110v light switches at 15 cents each but nobody did that.

If you're to lazy to do programming and just want the nice flashy lights you can get multicolour flashing LEDS. When powered on they will all be the same colour and blink in sync. After a few seconds the tolerances of each LED come in to play and they start blinking out of sync. Save high current issues and set them out in series parallel running on 18-24V.

Wouldn't it be super cool if you made a PCB of this in Buisness Card Format?

I would say this is doable, with a few 8 bit DIP switches and SMD LEDs. The shift registers are available in TSSOP package. Small Li ion battery, flat 3D printed enclosure. Makes a fun keyring tag.

One of the programs should have been Global Thermonuclear War. Or maybe chess.

    Kinda boring .
Why don't you make some huge ones that hang on the wall like signs ,just like the one you made.
With all the flashy lights and switches.
    Now that would be cool!
I'd buy one of those for $300 or $400 bucks!
