China’s C919 jetliner showcased at Singapore Airshow

- Asia’s biggest air show in Singapore is showcasing the first ‘made in China’ passenger jet.
Airline industry experts say it’s a new challenger for Airbus and Boeing.
But the airliner has a long way to go before making a big impression with passengers world-wide.
Al Jazeera’s Patrick Fok reports from Singapore.

Fun fact...The first chief engineer of Boeing was a Chinese man named Wong Tsu. He is regarded by the Boeing company as the Father of the Boeing company.
wow,really interesting
Good to know!
❤️🌹 wonderful information ..... thanks. Toooooooo much
🇰🇼🇮🇳🇰🇼🇰🇼🇰🇼
sadly , Boeing is rule by politicians now..
Real fact is Wong tsu is a tiawanese , He was hired as the first aeronautical graduate at Boeing .
China will need thousands of new planes for the next 20 years, that is a large market that Comac can enjoy.
And 80% of the parts come from Boeing and Airbus. They sell them last generation parts nobody uses anymore and China just assembles the planes. That's why it gets such terrible fuel economy. The only airliners that will order these is Chinese airliners because the CCP forced them to. They will lose a lot of money of fuel costs and maintenance. They have already been breaking down and a lot of these tofu comac919's have been grounded.😂🤣
l taught is indian surprise 😮 😏 😄
Few decades back, airbus was in a similar situation.... time will tell
Make toilets first😂
its only a matter of time the engine and other western components to be replaced with china components. the reason why engine and other avionics where outsourced is to reduce the time to market. China is not in hurry to get FAA or EU certifications as they already have 1000 plus orders to fulfill. In fact the western companies (honeywell, rockwell collins, saffron goodrich etc) where dying to get the contract to supply components for comac as there no new launches from either boeing or airbus without which they will have to layoff thousands of employees home. people worked in aerospace knew this well.
😆that's why all those critical parts are from U$A and Airbus supplier .
Chinese always setup win-win.
For now, Main profit is for U$A and Airbus supplier , to help in getting international certification
The Chinese are making stuff for money and not for safety.

China entering the commercial aviation market with its enormous industrial capacity and supply chain. Prices of commercial jets will definitely become much more affordable, looking forward to cheaper airfares ;)
Aviation industry has nothing to do with aircraft prices. It's dependent on oil prices 😂😂
The price of the airplane is not the sole factor in determining air fares. You have oil prices, demand and supply of passengers, distance of routes, maintenance, etc.
Reduce Western dependency.
I don’t know if you realise that China dependency has been decreasing too. Moving to places like India to manufacture products.
@@averageuser2027 India will never be able to replace China, the next China is still China, the problem with India is that they are not efficiency nor they have the resources the same as China.
@@averageuser2027I don't think india will replace china ....as of now india is a polarized country deeply involved in communal and religious bigotry ....
Thank God China have made this otherwise Boeing and Airbus are seeking hefty price for theirs.
I cannot see why the C919 will not be successful....It is just as good as those of Being and Airbus but cheaper...China market alone will be enough to sustain the airplane manufacturer for a number of years while newer and better models emerge....In the meantime Boeing will continue to grapple with its safety issues eroding its reliability and a god send opportunity for COMAC to break the long held duopoly ....Unless and until Boeing is willing to change its business model of maximizing profit over safety it will continue to lose market share to COMAC in the coming decades....
It took China this long just to produce a C919. It might be decades before the next model (eg. a a350 style aircraft that can do long distance routes).

Why C919 need to be certified by America and Europe? Given that America and Europe ban C919s flying to America and Europe China can pay back by banning Boeings and Airbuses to China.
It is simple, Airbus and Boeing need China market!
China has Airbus & Boeing in their fleet. Banning them will hurt China more than the West. The West will take their sweet time to certifiy C919.
60% of the Comac components and parts come from American and European companies, based on the reports if they stop supplying China with those parts it would take China 15-20 years to make them and make new the C919 fly by that time China is 15-20 years behind again in technologies.
The American knows how is still evident in every industry. China is catching up in terms of the talent pool for design a very complex engineering project by spending billions in developing a rather under-performance jet but by doing so Chinese engineers are able to take a deep dive into certification process and WHY they are doing so. This is ALL the difference between make it or break it. You need to understand why and how to manage the risk in the design and engineering.
Give the Chinese a decade or so, they will dominate commercial aviation like they did in other industries. If they could cost down the planes, it would be extremely difficult for airlines from western countries to boycott the Chinese. They will be outcompeted by other airlines.
Boeing 737 max, not only Poor Culture of Quality and remains a risky ride.
COMAC of China demonstrated 2 models : C919, and ARJ21. ARJ21 is smaller which has 90 seats.
Two models directly take passengers to the after world.
Nah, Boring will take you there sooner 😂@@JigilJigil
You mean Boeing right @@JigilJigil
I will take C919 over 737.
✈ Impressive showcase of China's C919 jetliner at the Singapore Airshow! 🇨🇳 Exciting to see advancements in aviation technology! 🔍
The C919 look so good in my sight, the only point I would criticize is the cockpit windshields and side windows are so large that it may affect the safety of pressurization load during flight.
The Chinese are very clever people. First they copy. Then bit by bit, they master. They will eventually put Boeing and Airbus out to pasture. At least in developing markets.
With how little care the Chinese have for lives, I am not sure I would want to sit in an C919.
Perhaps science is limited to your countries only
They are thiefs.
China pretty much stole all the components from US and making a crappy plane . People need a good life insurance if you flying on that .

Oh come on, it is just part of the wing, what's the big deal? I've seen footage of an American fighter landed with only one wing., American planes are great and robust, 50% parts falling off is still flyable.😂 All you need to do is mandate health check before boarding, no passenger with heart problems should be allowed on a Boeing
Due to south PH threat , Brunei stay close with China for "protection".

The body was made in China, but the main part, the jet engine, was made by American/French.
I think the most important thing in building an aircraft is the system design. Finding the best supplier for spare parts can reduce a lot of costs. There are also very few countries in the world that can build civil airliners even most of the parts are available.

Yes junk.

US made engines, but Chinese made engines are currently being tested and will be available in the coming years
@@妮姆芙-o3z It is not US made. It is a joint venture between US & France. If sanction kicks in, it will be sooner. Otherwise, we can expect the Chinese engine to be available at a min 5 years.
