I am a first-time Ukulele player. Originally, I am a Bassist but six days ago I picked up a Ukulele, learned how to tune it, and picked up a few chords. The next day I was playing. I can tell you that it is easier to learn how to play than it was learning to play my Bass. I am here to learn how to properly strum it. Thank you for putting out your tutorial. It has helped a lot. I am looking forward to many years of playing. Love and Respect.
Keep it up! If you practice a little each day, like even just 5 minutes, you'll make steady progress. Choose some of your favorite songs that have a 4/4 beat to practice the "Island" strum.
I just found your channel and have subscribed! This was a great video and it made me feel confident Island strumming. But, once I apply it to a song and sing, my Island Strum falls apart! I have trouble strumming to the beat of the song. Hope this makes sense! I will be checking out your other videos! 🙂👍
It does take some practice, but I tip I always suggest is to just listen to the song over and over again while singing along until you memorize all the words. Then when you play it, your brain just needs to concentrate on the strum. If you do mess up on the strum, just keep your strumming hand moving and jump back into the strum.

Thank you, my friend. I really enjoy teaching people music through the ukulele. I have some new and upcoming videos showing the power of closed chord positions that I feel really open up a new level of ukulele playing.
Thanks for the great suggestion. I added the strumming pattern by strum and beat count in the description for reference. Thanks again for the good idea!
Hi, just letting you know that when you are doing it slowly at the beginning your timing isn't right. You aren't following the same guide you have written up. you need to pause between the 2 up strokes. It's right when you do it faster.
There may have been some lag in your stream, but the "Island strum" pattern is "D-D-U-U-D-U" and the beat count is "1 - 2 & - & 4 &". In the video, I do play the "Island strum" at a fast tempo and often this strum is played at slower tempos. It basically consists of a single, a couplet and a triplet strums.
Be sure to "Like" and Subscribe to the channel for more free lesson on playing the ukulele.

Thanks so much. I'm happy I could help you on your journey. Since you already play the bass, I'm sure you can pick up the ukulele quickly.
Thanks for the videos
Thanks so much. Please let me know if you would like to see any other tutorials.
Great video. Thank you. I can do it slowly, but I need to practice to go faster and get the correct beat.

It would be better if you write a strumming pattern in the description. Good video

Yes, when I was recording the video I did mess up in the beginning.
Okay
How do u do this without scripts
To tell the truth, I do practice beforehand, but I love music and I want to share my enjoyment with everyone.
Your playing rhythm does not seem to match the graphic and does not sound like the Island Strum I have heard in other places.
