The plane was actually crashed in 1954 right after take off from skardu, crash landed at river bed which later on purchased by ShangriLa resort hotel for RS 150 and then later on shifted to hotel's premises

Shangri La resort in Pakistan is named after the fictional utopia in Kiplings Novel “Lost Horizon” that exited in Tibet in the story. Kipling was actually staying in the North of Pakistan around Hunza-Baltistan when he was inspired to write the novel.

There is a hike within the Shangrilla hotel, also there is an upper kachura lake which is much more natural with the environment
Also Shangrilla is more scenic in the summer when its all green, worth the visit imo
Yes, we heard about this, while we were there some roads were still closed due to landslides so we weren't able to hike much 🥲 we would like to return one day when the weather is warmer to enjoy more hiking

Dan, although cold deserts are the unique landscape of Skardu but fact of the matter is the town is most famous as the gateway to four of the five world's tallest 8000 plus metre peaks which are located in Pakistan - K2, Broad Peak, Gasherbrum I, and Gasherbrum II. The fifth peak Nanga Parbat lies in the different lower Himalaya range. So, besides normal tourism, Skardu also attracts high-risk adventure sportsmen and mountaineers mostly from May to September when the season is at its peak. The winters are very frigid and not many tourists visit the area from December to March.

When did you visit skardu and how many degrees?
This was filmed in March - can't remember the exact temperature but it was maybe around 10 degrees 👍
What's your fav place or city in Pakistan?
Skardu was definitely one of our favourites spots, most places in the North were incredible to visit. Also we loved our visit to the family in Naltar ❤️
@@AshAndDan. awesome, I been to hunza 4 times but skardu for once and it was back in 2004, skardu looked like part of some other world in 2004 haha, I visited ShangriLa, uupper kachura and sadpara lakes, I guess you missed upper kachura and sadpara lakes

@@AshAndDan. Indeed. BTW, if you ever get chance to spend a night on any hill by Muzaffarabad, dot it. In the night when you will look at the city from the top of the hill, you will find the stars under your feet. I was there in 1999-2000 and those stars are the things I still remember. I know your vlog is a few weeks behind your schedule but just in case.
