You're forgetting someone: Anakin's best friend. Obi-wan was too old for that title, more like an older brother figure. Padme was the love of his life. His best friend in the universe was a little blue droid, and that's why there is so much significance when Anakin arrives on Mustafar and says "R2, stay with the ship." He was committed to his deceit, even going as far as to keep his best friend in the universe ignorant of his actions. Every time I rewatch Episode III now, it really breaks my heart when he says "R2, stay with the ship." He'd already left everyone else behind, and R2 was the last one. R2D2 took care of Anakin for as long as Anakin allowed him to. After that, many years later, R2 would find Luke and take care of him in the same way. Little did anyone know how much R2D2 actually knew and remembered. Obi Wan and R2 even seemed to have had an unspoken agreement not to inform Luke of their years together. It gets better. The narrator of the entire story was originally intended to be revealed to be R2D2 at the end of Lucas's original episode 9. They would flash forward and a now-ancient R2D2 would be recovered from somewhere by people in the truly distant future, and the entire saga of of the films would have been revealed to have been R2D2's memoirs. I get so emotional even imagining it. Really sucks that we never got that ending.

The best part about this song is the tragic feeling it gives. For those who do not know a tragedy is when someone of great stature falls. Here we see "the Chosen One" who is not accepted of by his people (jedi) and hardly had a sense of belonging except for with his master and with palpatine (although he had better relations with palpatine as Obi-wan would sometimes anger him, whereas palpatine always seemed like a friend). Who else, then, would Anakin trust and obey? those who accepted him or those who rejected him? And so we see one with a promising future fail simply because others failed him.
It's more than that. The tragic character is also defined by one fatal flaw. Anakin's was his ego and fear. The environment didn't help but it's not everyone who gets slighted by the Jedi that decides to kill children. It was ultimately because of Anakin's own shortcomings that he fell short of his potential.
I dunno but that second that shows the fire from Jedi temple before Obi Wan and Yoda kill the clones it's depressing for me. It's like something has fallen apart.
You know, even though this wasn’t the best of the Star Wars franchise as many people say, this scene is really emotional to me seeing as all Padme and Anakin had been through and even Obi Wan and Anakin’s relationship too.
@@bobafett9348 It's better than 2 and 3 but that's not really saying much. It has some great moments and music, sure, but it has serious tone, pacing and structural issues. I have spoken.

Obi-Wan: Only a Sith deals in absolutes… I will do what I must. (grabs hold of lightsaber) Anakin: You will try. (Anakin unsheathes lightsaber all the way, then Obi-Wan unsheathes all the way, the two engage in combat)
I always really loved that moment around 1:30 when it turns major (i think?) as Obi-Wan kinda sees how far gone Anakin is, it conveys really well that sadness of the two's brotherhood being irreparably damaged. Wish this was on the official score release but thanks for uploading this!
It was at this moment a man lost his wife, his soon to be children, his brother who was his master, his younger sister, and many others to the darkness that was Lord Vader.
Empire Strikes Back is probably Williams’s most iconic score, but THIS ONE is my favorite. He delivers on every emotion without flaw. Williams always brings his A game, but for this I feel he bright his A+ game.
Just thinking that anakin had a destiny set for him and had so many good things going his way, and then being mislead into the dark, makes me truly sad
I love how this is a reprisal of "Anakin's Betrayal", showing us that Anakin not only betrayed the Jedi Order, but also his wife and his mentor. The irony was that he killed other Jedi so he could learn the secret to saving Padme by manipulating the Force, but his descent to the Dark Side tempted him go far beyond his original goal to seek absolute power, and it was precisely his ever-increasing greed that caused him to lash out at and kill Padme as soon as she refused to join him, inadvertently causing the exact fate he was trying to prevent in the first place.
Man so I never saw the clone wars until last month, where I spent the whole month binch watching it (prior I had only seen an episode here and there as well as the last season) And it's true how it changes the way you view Anakin, it was sad before, now it's like seeing a true hero turn and fall, beutiful in a heartbreaking way
Senator Padme Amidala served her republic dutifully, but that republic had died, and in its place stood an empire all she had left was her family but when she sought the embrace of Anakin Skywalker, she was instead strangled by Darth Vader Anakin Skywalker was a true hero to the galaxy, and a faithful jedi fighting to see the war end but more than anything to see that he wouln't have to anymore, to leave it all behind and be truly free from this cage but with his obsession to seek that escape ensure that it would remain out of reach rather than focus on why he only thought of how he thought of only himself, when she came to him showing the escape was there, yet his eyes were blin now he dwells within a new cage, one of his own design

Me too. Star Wars scores have always been amazing, and I'm someone who thinks every Star Wars movie that isn't ROTS or R1 is either mid or horse shit. The fact that this didn't get a best score oscar in 2006 is a crime
A lot of people laugh at the will of live line, however there are cases of survivors of accidents that survive , and yet die when they return home, most of the times comes by depression, or a extreme sadness and hopelesness, its nothing medically wrong, their just done, and even when they look healthy they arent. Really weird
The script for this scene has its flaws ("you're breaking my heart"?), but nothing makes me sadder than Padme's desperate, "I love you!" right before Obi-Wan's arrival sealed her fate.
I always looked at the film's soundtrack, particularly the tracks that play during Order 66 and Mustafar, as the galaxy and the Force wailing in lament as their heroes fall to darkness.
Such was the sacrifice necessary to ensure peace, security and justice in the galaxy. Never have such commodities we take for granted come at so big a price to pay. So heartfelt.
This is your own masterpiece, you’ve allowed this dark lord to distort your heart. Until now, until now you’ve become the very thing you swore to destroy. Don’t reason with me Obi Wan, I see through the lies of the Jedi. I see true facts of pure heroes ground
I just compared both and its not literally the same, Anakins Betrayal/ Order 66 theme, has like chanting people in the background and stuff, like its the same base but different

Padmé: He wants to help me raise our child. Anakin: ... Padmé: He cares about me. Anakin: I don't want to hear any more about Obi-Wan. DON'T YOU TURN HIM AGAINST ME!!! Padmé: Obi-Wan is a good person! Anakin: LIAR! (Padmé turns around and see's Obi-Wan standing at the entrance of her starship) Obi-Wan Kenobi: Hello there. Padmé: No! Anakin: YOU'RE WITH HIM!!! This song came out around the time I was born. Fast forward 19 years later and this Loke fella and his sister Lee decide to blow up our glorious Death Star. I lost so many friends that I served in heavy combat with as a Stromtrooper. This sad song reminds me of how much I miss them.
(Not sure if someone made this quote in the comments, so I’ll just paste it here) (Only those who play Star Wars battlefront 2005 will understand it) What I remember about the rise of the Empire is... is how quiet it was. During the waning hours of the Clone Wars, the 501st Legion was discreetly transferred back to Coruscant. It was a silent trip. We all knew what was about to happen, what we were about to do. Did we have any doubts? Any private traitorous thoughts? Perhaps, but no one said a word. Not on the flight back to Coruscant, not when Order 66 came down, and not when we marched into the Jedi Temple. Not a word.
That moment when you bring peace, freedom, justice, and security to your new empire.

After seeing the clone wars, it made his fall even more heartbreaking.
Let's not forget that he was more a tool to the Jedi than a person. Even with all his accomplishments they tossed him aside and treated him as a child

I always really loved that moment around 1:30 when it turns major (i think?) as Obi-Wan kinda sees how far gone Anakin is, it conveys really well that sadness of the two's brotherhood being irreparably damaged. Wish this was on the official score release but thanks for uploading this!
That moment your best-friend dates the girl you’ve liked forever.
If there's one thing John Williams is really good at, it's making songs that make you want to cry because of how powerfully it conveys emotion.
This soundtrack is just so tragic. Its easily one of the redeeming qualities about episode 3.

Man so I never saw the clone wars until last month, where I spent the whole month binch watching it (prior I had only seen an episode here and there as well as the last season)
And it's true how it changes the way you view Anakin, it was sad before, now it's like seeing a true hero turn and fall, beutiful in a heartbreaking way
Senator Padme Amidala served her republic dutifully, but that republic had died, and in its place stood an empire
all she had left was her family
but when she sought the embrace of Anakin Skywalker, she was instead strangled by Darth Vader
Anakin Skywalker was a true hero to the galaxy, and a faithful jedi fighting to see the war end
but more than anything to see that he wouln't have to anymore, to leave it all behind and be truly free from this cage
but with his obsession to seek that escape ensure that it would remain out of reach
rather than focus on why he only thought of how
he thought of only himself, when she came to him showing the escape was there, yet his eyes were blin
now he dwells within a new cage, one of his own design

Could you give any links to these types of deaths? Very intriguing....

What I remember about the rise of the Empire is... is how quiet it was. Not a word.
This will always & forever hit different
