Shalom and thank you. My pronunciation is of modern Hebrew with a Sephardic “tint”. Yes, many Israelites sound this way. Keep in mind that the Hebrew here is BIBLICAL Hebrew while spoken/conversational Hebrew is Modern Hebrew (similar to Latin vs English) 😉
First of all, Ayin is not silent here, but makes the sound "o". Second, it is pronounced as "o" here, because the Kamatz is in a closed, unaccented syllable. I cover this rule in this lesson: ua-cam.com/video/bs9dUI35VyU/v-deo.htmlsi=2ACZuDRx2oZ0xbI7

Great video, thank you. Really helpful to read along with this on. Can I ask so is this Sephardi pronunciation or ? Is this how most Israelis sound?

Okay, thank you very much :)

Why Ayin + Kamatz makes the sound "o" (o-n/YEE)? I know ayin is silence there, but I though it would be the sound of the kamatz that we pronounce.
