Why not compare it to the HP battery? Of course it’s going to be better than the standard lithium battery, because the HP’s are too. The new Edge batteries are supposed to be better than the HP batteries, that’s the comparison we need to see, brother.
I get you only had the time for one battery, but there's a million comparisons of the regular to hp ryobi batteries. A standard hp vs the edge battery would of been a much more useful test, most potential buyers already have hp batteries and want to know if edge batteries are worth it
Ok for every one saying that he should test it against the HP. Remember the HP only difference is it has the extra connector to allow the HP tools to draw more energy. What makes this impressive is he is getting longer life and less heat than the regular it's also smaller and lighter so this is amazing.
Awesome battery: Edge. Will revolutionize the cordless battery !!! Kudos for the various demo for Edge ! Will consider purchasing when it comes on the market. Tool On !!! Anticipating ur next one. Peace
Hmm... Does that matter when the battery management board has little tiny baby connections. All show on outside. In the 1970 Chevrolet put 140 mph on there 4 cylinder cars...again don't always believe hype. Check for yourself Thank You
I've been using Ryobi since 2008 and I can't justify the extra cost. If you are going to spend over $125 for a battery then that gets you into the pro line of tool makers. Besides I buy batteries on sale and get 2 regular 4amp lithium for under $100. That's why I now have 9 4amp and 1 1.5 amp. I'm sure it's a great battery but it's out priced for the lower end tool brand of Ryobi.
I wish you'd shown the thermals a lot slower, and actually focused on the hottest bits. that's where either the danger is or where it thermal throttles. or temp-gunned where you know it heats up most.
Solved a problem they've always had. The reason why so many of the brushless tools power out. The chainsaw, angle grinder, and even the brushless hammer drill at times among some others
HP tabs do nothing for the tool, sure they uave seperate different voltages but the contacts in the HP tools that actually have them dont go anywhere. No wires, not even continuity between them. The old 2Ah and HP 2Ah and HP 4Ah all have Eve cells and allow more current draw from each cell. If anything maybe the processor board and BMS are better. Shop tool reviews takes apart 3 impacts including Ryob(Eh)! And you can clearly see the contacts in the video do nothing. If anyone has taken thier HP tool apart and found otherwise I'd love to know which one so I can look for myself. I do have an 8Ah though that lasts in my petstick about the same as 2, 4AH HP batteries but doesnt get hot. However the neck warms up and the 4AH they get hot on the bottom.

Per ryobis demo material the edge slots between the 8ah and 12ah in performance. But I'd obviously like to see it for myself

it really shows how good the tool is also. Guess our tools have been gimped by batteries all along

That was the same "all the power" feeling I got when switching from regular lithium to lithium HP in the HP tools that have the extra set of contacts.

How does it compare to the standard 4ah hp battery?

Like to see the two compared on the chainsaw & impact
Well done, Brent! I need to add a couple of these to the arsenal 😁
Ryobi just solved a problem nobody had. Their HP batteries are already good and priced right. No one will buy this unless they drop the price.

Not only that but, assuming the computer chips and boards are well made enough, then the reduced heat etc would make the batteries last way longer
The new battery has some good power. How is cut though the wood that was great. It’s just the price was to high.
i want to see this compared to the p195
