as a lip spf connoisseur, I have some feelings My ultimate recommendations for lip spfs are always J-beauty chemical spfs. The newer, non-US filters don't have that spf taste. I use the Rohto Melty Cream Lip and the Nivea Japan Deep Moisture Lip Balm (both regular and "melty type"). I also do like the sun boss gloss if I want color, but I find the pigment settles into lip lines pretty badly. Each of the 3 I mentioned (Rohto, Nivea regular, Nivea melty type) are a bit different. Rohto and melty type feel like thin, high-shine lip oils. Nivea regular feels like a liquid lip balm and isn't nearly as shiny as the others. Each of the 3 also come in multiple scents, including fragrance free. I'm a vanilla person, so I get the vanilla scents. All of these can be purchased on YesStyle. I also love the Nivea Japan Rich Care & Color Lip Balm. This is a dewy tinted lip balm that come in multiple shades. My favorite shade is Bordeaux, which is a near spot-on color dupe for Clinique Black Honey. I have not tried the clinique formula, but Amanda Z claims that Rich Care & Color has a better texture and is more flattering on dry lips than black honey. I got this balm on YesStyle but as of 3 days before leaving this comment, the Bordeaux shade is on Stylevana as well. Just know that this balm is pretty sheer, much like black honey. I tried Jack Black in a couple of different flavors and had vastly different experiences with taste. The blackberry flavor had a horrendous spf taste. I kept seeing reviews of people saying it doesn't have a taste so I tried another flavor: the shea butter flavor you mentioned. I will say, it has significantly less spf taste than the blackberry flavor, but I still notice it occasionally. If you're getting Jack black, don't get the blackberry. Sincerely, someone who has been spending way too much time trying to find good lip spfs.
Your experience with Cay Skin is breaking my brain. I’m super sensitive to scents and tastes, and the only thing I’ve experienced with the whole range is the vanilla/sugar taste. I own all of them and wear them daily. Maybe I’m not sensitive to the SPF taste? So weird! Thanks for the comprehensive reviews!
I feel the same way! The Cay Skin gives me a slight bitter taste when I wear it a while but it’s not terrible and I’m pretty sensitive to the taste 🤷♀️
I’d love to see you try some of the Asian Beauty Lip Sunscreen products, yes style has so many options I’m a little overwhelmed! I’ve tried two so far, both have no taste/flavor and I like the finishes. I like the elf lip gloss, but I need something less sticky for outdoor use, since my hair gets stuck in anything that’s too thick. Ideally I want something really moisturizing and nourishing but kind of a more balm/matte finish so it stays put out doors.
I got one of the Elf Sun Boss Gloss in Pink Me Girl and I absolutely love it! I have the Jack Black one on my wishlist to try and the InnBeauty Project might get picked up on a sale.
It’s so interesting how we all have such different experiences. I adore the Cay Skin balm and love the cute flush of color. I don’t taste anything so maybe I’m not that sensitive to smells/tastes.
O'Keeffe's Lip Repair SPF35 stick is one I really like, I live on a lake so sun protection is key. It has a vanilla-ish taste but it's very mild. Still, I might check out a few of these because I'll definitely get use out of them if they're good!
❤❤❤Thank you for trying all those awful tasting ones. The waxy ones might be good for outdoor activities to keep face sunscreen from running in your eyes if you use above eyebrows. For the the vacation one is fine, love the innbeaity but its alot of pigment. My fav is from revlon kiss balm spf 20, not as much spf but I will wear it. Gonna try the jack black I have been eyeing the black tea one.
Absolute favorite SPF lip balm a shiny beacon in a sea of awful ones : Bondi Sands lip balm SPF 50 +, in the watermelon flavor. (The others are great too, except the coconut one because of the taste ) Only one that doesn’t dry out my lips.
You should check out the MD solar sciences lip spf. No taste, more of a satin/matte finish (sort of siliconey but not in an unpleasant way). They have a clear one and some really pretty colors. I usually buy it on sale otherwise it’s a bit expensive.
lip spfs are the bane of my existence 😂 don’t like the labello ones, the vichy capital soleil spf 30 and the hello sunday spf 50+. the hello sunday is my current lip spf that i keep on hand for days spent outside. it’s great besides needing to try to keep it on the outside of my mouth to avoid tasting sunscreen sunscreen 😭 i’ve had a similar experience to you in that i didn’t taste sunscreen immediately, but only after a while.
Yo i really love how your front hair pieces flow. I think short hair really really suits you. A collared top is also very good-looking on you. And I love your makeup, too. You looking good girl! ❤
I love the Shea butter Jack Black! Mint is just ok, the Basil one is just awful. I like the neutrality of the Shea butter. Gonna try the elf and nudestix ones! Thanks!
Great roundup! I also love the Jack Black balms in all the flavors. I also have a K- beauty one (Romand?) that is a comfortable chapstick type. I'm going to look into the elf and InnBeauty ones now. (: Edit - my K-beauty one is from Rohto (The Melty Cream lip spf 25). It comes in different flavors and is very inexpensive.
I got the cay skin clear lip balm in the Sephora spf kit, and while it smells heavenly it tastes so awful! I’m going to use it up but damn what a let down.

That is so helpful to know about the different flavors of jack black! Thank you!

That is so strange! It was one of the worst tasting ones to me :( I'm jealous though, because it is a beautiful gloss otherwise!
I came on here to say the same thing! I have the clear version of the Cay Skin gloss and love it! No bad taste or smell. I'm so shocked you hated it

Same!

OMG your yellow and blue matte look was so cute!!!! I am totally doing that tomorrow for work! :) Thanks for the inspo :)
Thank you!! It’s the look from my most recent everyday makeup drawer! 🩵

Also my favorite but I stopped using it because one of the ingredients is sweet almond oil & my partner has a nut allergy. 😕. Didn’t want to risk it.

ooooh I will have to try that one soon! thanks for the rec!

Love this video, lip SPF is not talked about enough
I love your eyeshadow
I loved all the cameos from you cat in this video!

Thank you so much!!
I think I'm gonna try the jack black lip balm.. i love petrolatum heavy lip balms!
I hope you love it!!
I love the Shea butter Jack Black! Mint is just ok, the Basil one is just awful. I like the neutrality of the Shea butter. Gonna try the elf and nudestix ones! Thanks!
would you ever try asian beauty spf lip balms? i currently like rohto mentholatum premium melty spf lip balm
I would love to! Maybe I need to do an Asian beauty lip spf showdown next??
For the jack black lip balm i used like 3-4 entirely up and i didnt even know it had sunscreen in it until the past year😅
I've always been curious about the up and up spf 50 lip balm.
I’ve heard good things and it’s so affordable!
Love this video and love seeing the other recommendations in the comments!

I would love to try some k-beauty spf lip balms next!! I'll definitely look for the Romand!
your makeup looks amazing!
@@voldemortstrikesagain thank you!!
My current favourite is The Original Hydracolor Lip Balm from Deborah Milano.
I haven't heard of that one, I'll have to check it out!!
@@SarahRoseBeauty it's excellent and comes in a range of good shades as well as clear. And it has no taste at all.
Thank you for this video but I have to admit I kept staring at the kitty in the back of the try-on portions 😻
Sun bum does make a tinted version! It’s just a separate listing on Ulta and the tube is different.
I wish there was a tinted mineral one! The only tinted version I have seen is chemical :(
@@SarahRoseBeauty oh that's sad :( for what its worth i have the tinted one and don't get any sort of weird taste from it!
Ahh that super goop play balm is the ONLY one I’ll use I’m so surprised you tasted anything. Although I have the strawberry flavour so it might differ
Suntegrity has SPF lip gloss. It's more expensive, so the ELF is probably a better deal.
The tint has to be opaque to counteract the zinc which is white.
The Attitude Sunly SPF balms are so good! The tinted coconut one has zero taste.
Is sun bum cruelty-free?!
I got the cay skin clear lip balm in the Sephora spf kit, and while it smells heavenly it tastes so awful! I’m going to use it up but damn what a let down.
It’s a shame because it’s such a gorgeous gloss!😢
I bought the mint SUPERGOOP play and the taste was disgusting!
Do NOT try the naked Sundays lip oil. It’s DISGUSTING! I wore it twice the threw it out bc of the taste 🤢
