How to create a COTTAGECORE bedroom

  • Hey everyone.
    I thought I would put together a basic guide on how to create a cottagecore bedroom, especially for those of you who possibly live in the city and cannot just step outside - so instead bring the natural world into your home. I hope this is helpful, and I have added timestamps so feel free to skip to whatever portion is going to be beneficial for you.
    Again, please do not feel any pressure to go and purchase things, often the most meaningful spaces are created with simple and handcrafted pieces.

    Cute video! ....but most fish live 10+ years I would suggest doing a plant tank only and skip out on using a living animal simply for a "trendy aesthetic."

      Definitely agree, I only recommend that if thorough research is done and there is a genuine interest in keeping the pet😊

    All my bedroom furniture is mid-century modern. I like the clean simple lines, wood of course. My walls are decorated with pictures of past and present pets as well as pictures of places in Europe I have visited and trinkets I acquired while visiting said countries. They are a constant reminder of my adventures and the loves of my life. Plants, I have a black thumb, but I am definitely interested in pressing flowers as well as drying.

    I just try to look for old items that my family don't use. I only have a metal bed frame and it's a double bunk so I put a old bed sheet on the top bunk which has no mattress and I put extra items as storage for a canopy.

      You definitely could with white furniture. I have quite a lot of white furniture in my own room after I upgraded recently which I will be making videos on as soon as my new camera arrives😊 I would suggest going thrifting/shopping for country-themed items that reflect the cottagecore aesthetic and display these on the white furniture to bring it all together. Perhaps also having vases of flowers and some plants will add a green effect. You could also add trays or runners that are cottagecore-themed to reduce the white of the furniture.

    Hi, I love cottegecore aesthetics and like to take good pictures for my handmade clothing brand but didn't know how as a small business owner we have a tight budget so I am taking all the pictures through my phone which is not that bad but any tips will be helpful. What should I avoid and what should I focus

    • @gemmabxx

      Hey, I would recommend trying to do some outdoor photoshoots, possibly in forest/grass areas and by water. Cottagecore definitely leans towards English countryside so if you can, try to replicate that in the images through props such as vintage/french-inspired vases, ornaments, mugs, glasses, wall decor, old-fashioned bikes (you can pick these up cheaply or free) etc. When editing, there are quite a few filters that give a slightly lighter, almost fairy-like look to the images which I would recommend trying. Cottagecore also favors light and airy aesthetics so I would recommend photographing in bright light as opposed to darker. Not direct light as this might be a bit much but definitely bright. Maybe try looking on Pinterest and Shein to see how others photograph their cottagecore outfits. If you would like more specific help, feel free to send me a message😊 Good luck!

    did you do a vid about how to correctly dry flowers? i have some rly expensive peonies that are drying out D: want to save them!

    • @gemmabxx
      @gemmabxx  Рік тому +1

      Oh wow, they sound gorgeous! I've made a short about drying flowers, however, for peonies I might recommend a slightly different method as I suspect hanging them upside down might not work too well. The oven method may work better for those... If possible, even getting those professionally dried might be a wise idea as they are so delicate.

    • @gemmabxx
      @gemmabxx  Рік тому +1

      A method that I would recommend I think would be to actually leave them in the vase for about a month. Don't add any water. This tends to keep the structure of the more delicate plants. There is a risk of some going brown though so if you don't want to take the risk, I'd recommend professional assistance😊

    • @gemmabxx
      @gemmabxx  9 місяців тому +1

      It's definitely very difficult at times! In my dark rooms, I tend to opt for candle light instead and abandon any hope of a nice natural light during the day😂
