I bought a 2023 WRX base model with the 6 speed standard transmission about a month ago now. Hands down, my favourite vehicle I've owned and driven. I love it. I had a Civic Si Coupe before the WRX and I can't express how much better this car is to drive over the Si. This car is much smoother and in my opinion, drives better due to no rev hang. Best purchase I've made this year.
Thank you very much for this video. Most of the wrx review on internet are the premium one. I ordered a base model and it's nice to finally have a good review of the entry level wrx.
I kind of love how analogue this car is. No push button to start, no power seats, no stupid giant tablet, real gauges, real hand brake, etc. I really, REALLY like this car.
For being a base model and having all the every day needs. Apple/android car play, two usb c, auto head lights, back up camera, auto rear view mirror and heated seats 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Awesome take on the wrx…. Nice putting emphasis on the little things like fuse box etc. And real life application of things in a car… Do the sport tech as comparison next!👊🏾🍻
Just got one of these last week in Blue Pearl. Hella fun to drive when I'm not stuck in rush hour traffic. Only real complaint so far is the sound system. Speakers sound like they are half blown already. Making a trip to the stereo shop as soon as I get some extra cash.
Glad that you're enjoying it! The base WRX is really for those who want to go and customize their vehicle their way. No point in getting more features in a higher trim if you're going to go and swap them out anyways.
Thanks for this video, was a tipping point in my journey and last week I ordered a Magnetite Grey Base trim. Unfortunately I'm not in BC or I would've given you a call 😄
Congrats on your incoming WRX! It's all good, I always recommend trying to support local. But, I have arranged vehicles to be delivered to people as far away as Inuvik, NWT.
I have one exactly like it and I'm glad the dealer didn't install the front plate mount. I never run front plates on my vehicles. Now the front bumper has holes in it.
Thanks for the video! This base is legit all I’d ever need. I don’t understand why people will spend so much money on the GT. I understand the premium, but that’s it. This is the exact same car I’d get, either in black or that nice darker gray. 👍🏻
Thanks for watching! It's all personal preference whennit comes to trim levels. Some people like the extra features in the higher end trims, and some want more basic features with no nonsense.
In a world of almost automatic transmission cars, e-brake, keyless entry/start. This kind of car what I'm looking for. Physical insert key, 6 speed MT, and physical hand brake!!!
It's not for everyone, but the base WRX infotainment screen still has some buttons, especially when you compare to the Sport and Sport-Tech trim levels.
I had a 2020 Si Coupe before my 2023 WRX. The Si had all that modern safety stuff in it. Not that it bothered me but I did shut the auto braking system off a few times when I was driving because the car would brake by itself with nothing in front of me at times or warn me to brake with nothing in front of me. That is one feature most vehicles these days have that I'm now glad my WRX doesn't have.

Congratulations on your great choice of vehicle! Glad to hear that it's leaving a lasting impression on you!

Welcome! We don't get a ton of base models, so I wanted to make sure I got a video of it!

They're a blast to drive. Definitely the preferred trim level for tuners or modders.
No actual hvac controls, gotta look at a screen instead of do it by feel. This is a serious safety issue, but it saves a few bucks I’m sure.

Thanks for watching, I'm glad that you enjoyed the video!
I have a few videos of the sport-tech on my channel if you want to check them out!
Good to see you without the snow and cold weather, greetings from Toronto🤣🤣🤣
It's nice to have sun and "warm" wind, finally!
Is there any way to keep the display turned off?

Thinking of getting the exact model, thanks for the review!
The base WRX offers a ton of value!

nice metal flake on the paint it make me change my order thx for the videos!!! :)
Thanks for watching! There is a ton of metallic flake in the black, it looks soooo good!
@@TysonTheSubaruSpecialist yes like the white during year 2011 to 2014

I wish we weren't legally required to have a front plate here in BC.

Does the base include maps on the screen?
Through Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, yes.

Hard to come by today!
Love that the base is a slick roof.
Yeah, lots of people just want the performance that the car offers, with no other bells and whistles.
Completely in love with the car but absolutely hate that infotainment screen with no physical buttons

Looks like fun! Now to find someone who owns a manual to teach me...
Just gotta find a $500 beater to learn on so you don't feel bad if you cook the clutch!
Why does this base model have heated seats and mirrors?
That's how they come in Canada.
absolutely perfect car
They're a great car!
Thanks for the review I just ordered one
Hope you enjoy it!
The base has heated seats?! I own a 23 base and didnt even know that.
Yep, the base model in Canada comes with heated seats!
@@TysonTheSubaruSpecialistI had to run outside and check and the US version unfortunately does not. Great video though, thank you
@DesertFoxWRX too bad!
Thanks for watching!
thanks
Welcome!
Mine comes in on friday
Awesome!
I'm fairly sure that you can equip a CVT on the base. I pretend built my own many times and I could choose the CVT
The base WRX is not available with Eyesight, so it cannot come with the SPT. No auto base WRX is available.
@@mattm2339 must be a USA thing. I focus on the Canadian trim levels since that's where I am and am familiar with them.
@Tyson The Subaru Specialist gotcha. Informative video though, thanks!
Probably last true car without the nannies and engine stop and all the modern garbage.
Probably, yes.

So not worth it for that price. Key start? Lame.
It's 100% worth the price. Just because YOU don't see the value in it doesn't mean there isn't any.
subaru needs to adress debri in oil pan
How would you like them to address it?
You mean debris are ending up where they do in every other car? Every oil pan I’ve dropped has had debris in it didn’t matter who made the engine.
fully loaded 10 years ago
Yes sir!
