My wife and I found leaving all the stuff behind freed us of a lot of worry and stress. We stopped feeding the beast. Sold it all and moved to a small coastal town into a small cottage. We’ve never been happier . Initially we were going to put an addition onto this as it’s 800sq feet. Instead we just got rid of more stuff . Small house small town and time with our animals . It’s all we need .
I have found that avoiding the news and today’s society’s ‘norms’ is helping me lead a more peaceful life. Walking with my dog in nature is time well spent.
I second that. Live in a van, on a mountain, doing what I love, that brings me meaning... and the longer I spend out here, the happier I become and the more delusional the claim that any of the stuff apparently of importance in current affairs appears... we don't have to spend our lives bothering about what's going on halfway round the world or to countless people who just can't work out that this is a beautiful world and a beautiful life worth living... so, these days, I just have no time for it really, there's too many beautiful views to look at, too many birds to appreciate, too many interesting projects to put together, too many new ideas to realise. 🙂 If only more people would realise that, but, they have to learn it themselves. Protect your own peace of mind and think about what's in front if your eyes. ...If a war comes, for example, these days I just don't care unless I see a tank rolling over the moor here, its just more of some other person's foolishness, it'll always be there so why waste time on it, you can't fix it but you can let it be and do something wonderful yourself.

I believe what you have said is true. I was just walking my poor old dog ( she is 14 and has been sick lately ) and thinking to myself at my age of 63, how tired I am of the world around me and at how withdrawn and hateful people are now. I have decided to stay to myself and pro-sue hobbies I enjoy and to worry less about this bitter place. I always make an effort to say hello to people I come across on my walks, but have found that most of them just stare at me and say nothing. Especially the younger folk. I have been turning off the news a lot more, because it started making me feel physically ill to watch anymore. I am now determined to pro-sue that peace you are talking about. I have come to realize that we are all just passing through this place anyway. Especially with the number of people I knew who are now gone. It is up to me to enjoy the time I have left here. Thank you for sharing this with us all and I know what you are saying is true.😊
Yes I’ve noticed people are very different now (after Covid) and look at me strange when I try to be friendly so I am a hermit now and am happy. I have many interests and a loving husband and 2 little dogs. I am content and peaceful. 😊
Solitude is bliss. I was very sociable in the earlier part of my life and now nothing brings me more peace than being quietly alone in my own space. I still like people, but I like my own company more.
Break modern society down into three groups - those who value peace, those who desire security above anything else, and those who like to bother the first two groups.
I left drama & family behind, moved to the Blue Ridge Mountains Carolinas, from Texas, and live out in the woods by myself. Don't even have curtains on my windows. People think because I'm a female, I should be scared out here; I say why? Retired as well. Nature is my friend; the only complaint I've heard is when I get too close to a mama bird's nest; then I give her the space she needs. Zero drama. I am so happy here. Glad you found your happy spot too.
@@TakeTheRide Sounds great. It must be great to be in nature like that. I'm in a city, and try and find the pools of tranquility where I can ( the local park, a cathedral and a botanical garden. ) There are a few nice people here and there.
@@SIERRATREES I would strive to get out of the city and own your own piece of land. Choose where you spend your money wisely. Become self-sufficient away from City services. Figure it out. For your own safety.
I too am 60 and walked away from a company that had created a situation that made it impossible to complete the work load. Peace and freedom are very unusual things for me.
Also walk away from Dramaqueens.Women who are never satisfied and happy no matter how much a man provides, who complain all the time about everything, who are easily bored when nothing "interesting or exciting" happens any five minutes. Avoid women who consider peace a boring thing.

I moved away from the city and live a calm life by fjords and moutains. Nature is right outside the door. I run a few businesses from here. No one tell me what to do, I am not anyone’s slave. I am in control of my own life.
Hi, I’m dreaming with something like this, I’m 32 female… would you mind to share what king of business? I struggle to imagine what kind of job I could do if I was living in nature..
@@Starstorm111 Hi there! I run a tourist business plus some other stuff. I live in a small rural village with beautiful nature and surroundings, so it’s popular amongst travelers. I offer accommodation and guided trips. 100 % control over my life and time :-)
Without going into a long story, I made some very drastic changes in my life that have set me on a path of peace. I divorced from a long relationship that was stagnant. I changed my fast food diet and over time have reached the point where I eat mostly whole foods. I started caring about my fitness. My mental health is miles away better than it ever was before because I made those scary, enormous changes. I hope others will do the same if they are feeling stuck and depressed.
Changing the diet to more plant based and cutting out the ultra processed food has made all the difference in my world. I lost 58 lbs. in 11 months. Feeling amazing and wanting to start gardening with retirement coming soon. I see more peace coming in the future as my surroundings change and I keep watching this channel.
@@kathleenhill5838 I keep a small garden in an urban area and it has provided so much great food. Tomatoes, zucchini, yellow squash, peppers, cucumbers, etc.! I hope you are able to do it!

How many times I have put just enough in a pack, taken a map and my compass and charted a course through an unknown wood I do not know. My best memories have been out there. The stillness of a morning, the feel of a fire, the smell of food cooking and even the adrenaline rush of being caught in a storm are my happiest memories. It took a long time, I am now 71 years old and a man who finally walked away
🎩Hi my wife and I got out of the rat race in 1997. Sold our cottage, gave up our jobs and bought a narrowboat. I then trained as a forrester. But in 2011 got laid off, and haven’t worked since. Due to medical problems. It is a better life and would never change it. Though now we are both carers for aged parents. You can’t beat waking up to bird song and seeing nature at its best.
I love this video… it speaks to me… Volumes. I am a recent widow who lived off grid, off the mainland USA. I had a year with my husband before he passed. Unfortunately I had to come back to the mainland because of necessity for full oxygen. I miss the life we had, peaceful, quiet & away from chaos…. I am looking for this once more….a simple life…this video inspires me… I learned so much from my husband
Completely agree with you. I've been 40 years on this planet, and I'm too old for energy vampires and unnecessary difficulties. Nature, traveling, my well-being, and a handful of close ones matter the most. Money creates fewer worries, but it's not the key to happiness.
Peace is essential for maintaining a decent quality of life. As I get older, I have realised the importance of finding peace. Thank you Bjorn for all your channels and the great content and chats.
Bjorn I am the same age as you and had similar 1980s upbringing. My “heart attack” came in the form of breast cancer six years ago. This was followed by a very strong call back to nature, which I answered. Only to find that the nature I found myself in was being exploited beyond belief. They tried to push me out when I stood up to them, but they found a brick wall. It would have been easier to walk away, but leaving the river, the trees and the animals in the care of evil people was not an option. This is where I will make a stand, this is where I will succeed or fall.
Retirement brought me a new level of peace. No more crazy projects. No more crazy deadlines. It took a while to get here, but I paid my dues along the way. Now I do what I want, when I want, how I want and take as long as I need to do it. Life has slowed down to something far more realistic and manageable.
6 years until I’m 62 ready to stop working full time and only work partial week. The peace of having a morning to myself and my wife is pure joy. Working for ungrateful, unorganized and chaotic people is a drain. Thankfully taking a two week vacation on the Oregon coast where we will truly separate from the daily grind. Real peace is found when my will is aligned with God’s. Serving others who truly need the help and appreciate it is a feeling work will never provide.
You're correct in what you say. The world is geared for us to not be at peace. Over population, false economic pressures, false ideals and programming by the media and internet. The art of living is rapidly being lost. My way back has always been to return to nature. I truly hope you find and hold on to your peace.
I also have no children or husband, but my extended sibling family keeps trying to drag me into their dramas. I try to explain that I'm happy in my life situation and choices, and they need to address their own life choice consequences.
If you can't get out into nature, you can often build a place for nature at your home. These tiny spots of wildness will draw wildlife. You may not have deer or bears in your personal "forest," but you will probably have birds, squirrels, frogs, dragonflies etc. In the asphalt and concrete world, the wildlife need these pockets of nature.
I find peace by living alone with as little contact with people as possible. I had two beautiful cats that I loved tremendously. They both passed away. I'm afraid to get another pet due to my age. I don't want to leave them to, whatever. I'm enjoying your videos. I'm happy you have two lovely big dogs. Stay well. 👌
Happy to see your two beautiful dogs again! What stole my peace? City life, feeling forced to engage in the continuous and disrespectful oversight on myself and other highly trained and experienced teachers and feeling we had to continuously socialise with people with whom we had little in common. My husband and I escaped 25 years ago, moved back to our rural past and to grow food to sell. Our income went down by two thirds. We hardly noticed. All those years of making money in jobs where we received no respect ( except from the amazing kids!), all so that we could afford to live in the place that was causing us so much stress- what a waste! What a drain on our mental and physical health it was too. My husband is now 82, today he is scythe mowing our hay field. If your life is not satisfactory to you, change it now!No excuses are valid. You only get a few decades, don't waste them.
I found that I was giving giving giving, working to give, not appreciated, nothing in return, no rest. They were basically USING ME TO LITERAL DEATH. And got really mad and BANISHED me when I stopped giving them everything I had . (I'm fine with it) Now I'm focused on restoring my health (I'm 53, never had a vacation) and getting myself moved out to the remote mountains. Which is where my heart is... Blessings to you Bjorn, love hearing your thoughts and ideas.
I love the sounds of small birds singing in the woods and the way it echoes through the trees. the sound of the the wind blowing through the leaves and the rippling of a river. Perfect!
Treasure your life before you get too old to do what you love to do. I have reached that point, but still hobble out to the back pasture and sit and enjoy the birds and think of the joy I had when riding my horse in the woods or walking my dog. Sunset of life comes up quickly. Also do not let idiots get you into an argument. Peace and quiet and beautiful sunsets.....yes!

It is true, Bjorn. Long story short, I'm deprogramming myself over the past 2 years. Way less screen time, way less phones, way more nature. Thank you from Renton, Washington, USA.
Earlier this year I decided to quit my job as an industrial maintenance technician and begin working the small farm I was privileged to inherit from my parents, it was the best thing I have ever done, no more pressure and stress of the sort I had to deal with on a daily basis, there is stress and pressure but it's different, working with livestock has it's stressful times but it's more fulfilling and rewarding, more real. I often just stand in the middle of my farm and observe nature and my stock and I think of the generations that have worked this land and walked these fields before my time, there's a real feeling of deep connection to my forefathers and it brings a lot of peace and contentment, and now I also have the time to indulge my other passion which is working on the classic cars I've acquired over the years.
I can't remember where I heard this quote, but I try to live by it and it goes along well with what you're saying: "If it costs you your peace, it's too expensive"
A great maxim to live by. I haven't always. I used trade the peace for a stressful job, but got paid well, which is maybe ok if you can plan an exit. Looking back, I could have improved the situation with more mindfulness and leading a purer life outside work.
The truth spoken plainly by my Norwegian Big Brother. I love your setup with your tent, cabin, and tarp. Hearing the wind in the trees is so peaceful. I've had to walk away from many family and friends the past couple of years after a lifetime. Peace is coming, a little at a time. The realization that the direction one has taken in life has been the wrong one is not easy to accept, and making big changes is even more difficult. Thank you for bringing me peace in times of trouble, Bjorn.
Yes Bjorn, I agree. From the time I was 18 until 24, I lived on top of a mountain. In Alpine forest. Authorities made bets on my survival. I had a primitive dwelling, off grid. I found a relationship with the Gods ! And the meanings of life !
I, a woman, bought a couple of acres in the Blue Ridge Mtns & moved halfway across the U.S. by myself. Zero drama. Animals & nature give me peace of mind 24/7. I love living in the woods alone. Writing, music & photography are my passion. Come visit Bjorn. ~ Just a cello player.
"The opposite of love is indifference" I am less than two months away from moving out of the city. I've lived through horrors that gave me heavy ptsd but just focusing on moving towards healing and nature and peace is my main drive rn. As I sit here listening to you, I find that you are echoing my feelings. Nature is the salve for our troubled souls. My camp is in the hot, humid woods of N Central Florida. The air is thick with songs of nature. Thank you, Bjorn for sharing.
"If someone steels peace, walk away"! That's what I needed to be told just now! It opens my eyes in regards of people around me extruding negative energy. Thank you for your wise words!
It's so nice after a long, long hard working day, to come here, to sit peacefully and listen to you and your wisdom and reminders of so many truths regarding our lives. It's easy for us in our world to forget many of these fundamental roots to our being. Wonderful video, as with your others, thank you. We still have and hold the power of choice and healing don't we.
Yes, finding peace is so very important for health and well-being! I have been doing what I need to find peace and health, and it has been a great journey. I spend more time outside in the sun and with my bare feet on the earth. I grow plants and a garden. I read lots of books and spend time reading my Bible. I focus on healthy food and wear only linen or organic cotton. I feel more relaxed and at peace than ever.
Bjorn you are so right! I've been stepped on so many times that I finally figured this out. I refuse to invest in any more people who do not invest in me back, or who don't appreciate me. Too old for that s***🤣
Agree wholeheartedly. I moved away from the city in 2021 after spending my whole adult life there. Moved to a seaside town and have never been happier. I also went freelance on a whim after working for bosses for nearly 20 years. I also walked away from a lifelong friendship for my own peace as well as from a family member. Self care is paramount.
I know what you mean about inner peace. I drive an hour away to the place by the beach where i used to live, i walk on the beach and let all my troubles go out to sea. I would still be living there if the govt didnt allow rents to escalate so i could no longer afford to stay since i got on the pension. I had to move back to the city and sharr a place with young ones, which is nice but noisy, messy and not at all what i hoped for in retirement. I look forward to your videos, thanks🌻☺️🥴
I hear what you are saying Bjorn, I have made changes, Unwittingly, so not through poverty but having to be more frugal with what I do have. The fact is It is having less that has brought me more peace, I have No car or credit cards I have no bank account and no phone. I already live in the countryside and am surrounded by fields in which to walk my dog, watch the birds and breath the clean air. The less I seem to have the better I feel, though I do have a weakness for nice walking boots. Thanks for your time mate, keep up the lovely channel.
Thank you for this. This was very powerful for me to hear. I find myself feeling stuck. In a rut. I need to find courage. I know it’s not out there. It’s within. ✌🏻
Nature will always be my only home, I find the rest too restricted on so many levels. Sadly places arent as safe, as a kid I wandered all over but sadly kids today wont know that freedom. We fail to want to protect things like we used to. I will never understand why. I remember telling my friends the day computers entered the classroom that there would be no escape from the chains coming from the reach of new technology and I was labeled crazy for a long time, but here we are running for the hills...
Bjorn, the trolls and haters are just unhappy and taking it out on someone who has taken the steps to find their peace. They are taking the easy way out, the lazy way, doing what they're told. You are a beacon of Freedom, Bjorn. Never change that.
During the plandemic New York state went insane, it wasn't easy but I had to leave. I loaded up my van and traveled the country looking for a sailboat I could live on. After looking at a few I fell in love with a 47' Wauquiez. I put into port after encountering 100+ knot winds in the Gulf Stream, there I met someone who had a project which needed help and next thing you know I'm running the demolition on a billion dollar hotel project in Florida while living on my self-sufficient boat. Now I have a whole new life and walking away from NY was the best thing I ever did. You can do this too, don't be afraid to start anew.

Move with the flow of life …and absolutely get rid of toxic people…. Thank you..the dogs are lovely .
I cant really get to the wilderness, but rather, I seek out pockets of nature and tranquility in my city environment. It still works.
It took me until I was over 60 to find peace. I now live by the sea, retired, and have never been happier.

What will you do if the electric grid ever goes down and you're not growing your own food? What will you do if you can't get water out of your tap? Please think about that. Become self-sufficient away from City services. Figure it out. For your own safety.
I too am 60 and walked away from a company that had created a situation that made it impossible to complete the work load. Peace and freedom are very unusual things for me.

I moved away from the city and live a calm life by fjords and moutains. Nature is right outside the door. I run a few businesses from here. No one tell me what to do, I am not anyone’s slave. I am in control of my own life.

Your comment is yet another in here that is truly inspirational. Well done to you for making the changes you needed.
Sleep hygiene helps too. Keeping the same hours every day.
Changing the diet to more plant based and cutting out the ultra processed food has made all the difference in my world. I lost 58 lbs. in 11 months.
It's the nurturing of inner peace that is the cure for stress, anxiety and depression.
Thankyou. I think that's the most succinct definition I've ever heard for how to deal with those issues.

Completely agree with you. I've been 40 years on this planet, and I'm too old for energy vampires and unnecessary difficulties. Nature, traveling, my well-being, and a handful of close ones matter the most. Money creates fewer worries, but it's not the key to happiness.
That's so essential to surround yourself with people that are peaceful and uplifting. Also go where you are well treated.
I have a very toxic person in my life. Close family. It’s literally killing my soul either way. I can’t walk away because I love her so much. 😢
You will never ever fall !
Life on Earth is short and precious. Dont waste it making someone else rich who you dont even like. I did that for 11 years
Retirement brought me a new level of peace. No more crazy projects. No more crazy deadlines. It took a while to get here, but I paid my dues along the way. Now I do what I want, when I want, how I want and take as long as I need to do it. Life has slowed down to something far more realistic and manageable.
Haha, I just retired a few months ago, and now I'm overwhelmed by my own list of home projects.

If someone hurts you, it's better to go away. The video is nice.
I have no kids, no family. The one man I loved for 25 years, died 18 years ago and I have peace and happiness because I choose it every day.
I also have no children or husband, but my extended sibling family keeps trying to drag me into their dramas. I try to explain that I'm happy in my life situation and choices, and they need to address their own life choice consequences.
Yes, peace and happiness are a choice...be well
So beautifully put. Choosing peace everyday.
Peace is worth more than gold. Amen.
There has never been a time where i have acted in anger and not regretted it. I still cant seem to control it.
Peace and freedom is priceless, but they made currency the number 1 most important in life
I find peace by living alone with as little contact with people as possible.

Time to put yourself first ❤
I love the sounds of small birds singing in the woods and the way it echoes through the trees. the sound of the the wind blowing through the leaves and the rippling of a river.
What a beautiful place. No wonder you are so calm and grounded. We need to choose to seek out these places, both outside and in.
I can't remember where I heard this quote, but I try to live by it and it goes along well with what you're saying: "If it costs you your peace, it's too expensive"
That’s brilliant 🙌🏼
