6:54 That actually looks like somebody was replacing the wipers and accidentally dropped the wiper arm without a wiper installed on it, which in turn hit the windshield. The crack looks perfectly positioned for something like that.
Middle row seat will tilt forward for access to the 3rd row seats - you pull the release lever up and then fold the backrest down (as you did), then pull the lever up again and this will allow the seat to fold forwards giving better access to the 3rd row seats.
Hey man I was just watching this video to hear that thing Ryan but really enjoy the video. I'm commenting because you have me crying over here with the comment you made about them never have maybe done manual labor. You're going to go far and making videos!
I have a 2008 GL450 and it is amazing how different the 550 looks. The bigger grill, fender flares, bigger tires really makes a difference. Also the 450 has no cooled seats and no rear heated seats at least for the 2008 year. It did take me about a year to find one for cheap but with the locking diff so that is hard to find but overall I have had no repairs in 2 years of owning it and it is way cheaper than buying a Lexus GX/LX which cost about twice as much if not more.
This is presumably a US import looking at the speedometer. It goes up to 160 which is weirdly low for this kind of car. My guess is it was reprogrammed to show KM/H and the "MPH" text was scraped off. If you look at US-spec examples of these, they have gauge clusters going up to 160, and there is "mph" right above the needle.
If the speedometer has only km/h on it was made in Canada. USA made ones will have both on it. I ran the Carfax on that vin number says was exported to Japan from Canada.
the car has mbrace. so it’s possible the car went to canada first before exporting. I think the front end was repaired at one point because it doesn’t have the amber reflector in the headlights.
@@AlvinShen @Alvin Shen I have this exact model, color, and year in USA. Those headlights have been taken apart at some point due to the inner housings being black AND no orange reflector which is USA only. The seats in the 2nd row do roll up again. In the down position you just had the seat in, pull the leaver again and the 2nd row moves further to the front seats.
I test drove a couple of these, and honestly the luxury in this now is only in the comfort. All the electronics are boorish or do not work well. These do not have BT audio for music, the 2008 first model has no way to have aux input. Both are best to replace the head unit with a another, especially as just about any Nav system of this era is junk. You are right that the sunroof rollers are fragile at best. Sadly for comfort, most do not have passenger lumbar adjust. It really is best to avoid this first gen and get the 2nd gen 2013+, but they are easily double the cost. Also, if they have Distronic, it is the first gen as well, which will not auto brake. Keep that in mind. I really really felt these were cheap vehicles except for the price Mercedes was selling them for.
The USA makes plenty of cars that are not sold in the USA and are optioned differently for different markets. I think the world's Z3s were made in the USA, both left and right hand drive.
Hi Derek, I own a JDM ‘97 Aristo in Sri Lanka. If I am to move to Canada, is it possible to bring it in? If so are you able to handle the transfer? Much thanks in advance!
I'm pretty sure you can import a car in Canada since they have the 15 year rule. Here in United States it's 25 year old rule and since that car is a 97 you have to wait 2 more years in order to import that car here.
You are correct and I am correct. It's the "AMG package", which is a trim level of the non-AMG model. It's similar to the M-Sport BMW cars. The AMG version is "GL63". AMG always has two numbers where the regular ones always have three numbers.

Ive literally been binge watching your videos over the weekend , amazing content , you have the best job ever haha .
The VIN Decoder says: Place of order: USA and spec codes 705L USA and 359 Teleaid USA . So it was imported to Japan at some point.

Pretty those are all made in the USA. And the ML also.
How much would this go for in auction?
Please upload more Mercedes videos they're pretty awesome🙂

Yes. Even at Mercedes in America they like to be cheap and that Speedometer confirms it.

I’m familiar with these GL in the USA. I don’t think this GL was made in the USA. Has some cool/weird options that were not available in the USA.

Yes, you can import it. Sorry, we can't ship it but I have people in Canada that can handle the import and compliance.

Why would someone export this from japan?
