It’s amazing how many bits of dialogue were obscured by the music! I laughed at Matau’s “this is good, this is good, yeah, meant to do that” around 7 mins in 🤣
I always knew the music was amazing, but this really showed just how much the music made certain scenes. Nathan Furst is an amazing composer. Also funny to hear the little bits of voicing and sound effects that were covered by the music!
I think legends of metru nui and web of shadows do a better job at not needing to rely on music as much as mask of light. mask of light without music just kinda makes it seem like an on-stage performance that couldn't hire a sound crew, while legends of metru nui and web of shadows seem more or less like what the actual scenario would look like
I will agree with someone says web of the shadows is trash now after i see it without "caught up in a dream" song (web of the shadows is great but without music is bad)
This is actually kinda brilliant and I'm amazed hasn't been utilized more until now. Is there are possibility of the full films being made available and TLR getting the same treatment? (I know where you can get a copy... :P )
Probably going to soon, though due to syncing issues it’ll probably just be an mp3 or wav of Bionicle 2. Also unfortunately TLR’s channels don’t separate nearly as cleanly.
2 things: First, watching them without music is watching them as they really (would've) happened, since life doesn't play music. Second, how did you remove music from SFX?
Ripping the DVDs’ original 5.1 surround sound mixes. Those operate in six channels. The general rule-of-thumb is that Channels 1-2 (Front Left and Front Right) are music. Channel 3 (Center) is dialogue and most SFX. Channel 4 (Low-frequency effects) are minor audio bits that tend to compliment Channel 3. Channels 5-6 (Surround Left and Surround Right) are variations of reverb for all the previous channels, as well as a few bits of extra background SFX. How cleanly these all separate depends on the quality of the original mix. Messier ones bleed together, making isolating anything a lot more difficult. Thankfully these movies were three of the better ones.
@@APinchofBazel is there any way you could give us access to the entire trilogy with no music? There’s some scenes that I think could benefit from some music replacements
@@Samtastictogo Pretty easy for 1 and 3. I’ve already got full exports of those with the isolated audio synced up to the HD fan-upscales. The only issue is 2. Something about the framerate and/or speed on that one doesn’t care too much for the DVD’s original audio. It loses sync in 15 seconds and I haven’t found the right way to fix it. Worse comes to worst I can just share that as an audio file. I can make a zip for the trilogy and toss a Google Drive link onto a community post if you guys want.
@@Samtastictogo Also, something to keep in mind. Removing the music entirely means taking out channels that contained certain other sound effects as well. So if you’re planning on doing a score replacement, you’ll probably need to worry about replacing those SFX too. Crowd noises, background ambiance, echoes/reverbs for some voices, stuff like that.
tbf, at least a few sound effects were too intermingled with reverbs of the music to cut out with everything else. Some wind here, some crowd noises there.
I just realized…20 years later or some shit, bionicle was a Lego rip off wannabe. And medabots was trying to scam pokemon and digimon and yugioh all at once
Man’s just dropped the sickest sample pack without knowing
Oh it gets better.

Yes, it's derpy, but you gotta agree, sound effects were top notch in these movies.
also slow mo is usually derpy without sound effects
Bro the Visorak sound effects
some of these scenes are actually pretty atmospheric without the music
Someone of them are scary, even
Gotta admit, that "together we are strong" from Gali and Tahu just being annoyed and going away has so much meme potential
There are even more memes
Tahu: literally any group mad at something for no apparent reason (hundreds of possible examples really)
Gali: the thing they're mad at
We all love the Bionicle OST, but I never truly learned how to appreciate the sound effects until now.
I just lost it when the Toa Metru were walking slowly into the arena
I love how robotic and electronic some of the sound effects are, contrasted with the more natural-sounding ones.
The slow motion walk scene from 2 made me almost fall off my chair laughing! That was amazing!
I always knew the music was amazing, but this really showed just how much the music made certain scenes. Nathan Furst is an amazing composer. Also funny to hear the little bits of voicing and sound effects that were covered by the music!
Gali: "We must remain united. Together, we are strong!"
Tahu: "Bullshit." **starts playing limp bizkit and walks away**

not saying it's anywhere near perfect, mind you
Why is there no Bionicle musical?
perfect Bionicle SFX compilation, for stop motion purposes.
This is amazing, I'd never would figure out how to isolate the music off from the sfx and voices
6:13 lost it at Nuju's "Wow! Whoa! *giggle*"

Nathan Furst: Too Quiet. Just Natural
I don't know which is worse the classic MoL opening, Vakama's vision, or the Rahaga flight.
Vakama's voice is pure ASMR
Even though he was brought back to life, Jaller's death still breaks my heart.
is it just me or did anyone else thought what if Bionicle movie's got video games while watching this
It feels wrong but also kinda cool
6:10 wow!! woah-ho-ho!!!
Straight up lost it when I heard it
who's getting the best head in that scene?
you know what-
_Im saving this so I can yoink some of these sound effects-_
_cough_

It’s too quiet and dark..In shadow.
I just realize people do this to make asmr in movies / series
Feels ominous in a good way.

Amazing. How did you extract the audio tracks?
How familiar are you with the nature of 5.1 surround sound mixes?
They really relied on the music to mask the lack of actual sounds LOL

Mask Of Light ------>> Mask The Lack
6:58 Why does it feel like Delgo or some shit?
Um… how? Sleeted and then cleaned up and new sound effects added in places? Or is bonus material DVD stuff?
They ripped it from the surround sound version of the movies
I'm curious, what tool did you use? I want to try this out on the Toa Mahri short movie.

Where is the musical

Bionicle was made by Lego
I don’t believe you know what you’re talking about.
Bionicle is a Lego brand, I think you might be a bit delusional
