Really helpful. Thank you. I never dare to paint figures, but with a bit of practice like this, i might even get there. Great tutorial.

Absolutely brilliant - just what I was looking for. I suspect it'll take me hours and hours to be able to do anything half as good. Thanks.

I created a landscape painting kind of by mistake and thought some figures would finish it perfectly. From a beginner, thank you for this video!

This is just what I've been looking for. I don't want to do portraiture, just put some 'life' in my paintings. Thanks a million!

    Love em Man!! 😁👏🎨🖌
Isn't it fun to be able to get them down like that and so free.
Very encouraging and helpful, especially to those who have never done any gesture work.
I used to tell my students how important this is. Wish I could have shown them this video at the time.
Will be glad to share it now.
    Thanks again.

Thanks for a great demo. Very relaxed and interesting comments about focusing on visual feedback about body shape as you paint, rather that getting steamed up about detail.

A friend once advised me to take off my glasses to draw/paint little figures like this. I couldn't see very well so I drew more freely. So with more practice I could do them like in this clip

Thank you so much for this video! I learned so much! It does not take years of practice and art school to do as one commentor said. It only takes a good attitude and the ability and want to learn. People are so negative when they are jealous. This is a great video! :)

It makes me so mad at myself because I could never do that no matter how hard I try. I can vision in my head how things would work but actually doing it, it never works. I wish I could transfer what is in my head on paper.

And where's the landscape you put these figures in? It's a pure white paper, not a landscape. I think, there's much more to consider when putting figures into a landscape, isn't it?

  • @perfectstorm37

To be able to do this takes a tremendous degree of practice over the years with drawing and sketching. Believe me this guy has spent many many years drawing and probably studied at art college too. It is impossible to do this without drawing skills. The simplicity has to be learnt over years. He makes it look easy BUT ITS NOT!

This is amazing....it's actually so SIMPLE to add figures to a landscape!....as you know, Adolf Hitler was an artist BEFORE he was a murderous dictator! If only he had SUCCEEDED at selling his landscapes how different might history have been! His paintings of Viennese cityscapes showed a marvelous love of architechure, but after you have created a fine cityscape.. THEN you have to add a few random figures. That was where he screwed up. He didn't have the chance to see your videos on UA-cam....so he painted the "random" figures awkwardly, and he ruined his actually quite well-done cityscapes with horrible figures. If only Hitler had seen YOUR marvelous videos, he would have been a successful artist, and there would never have been a Second World War!
