- You can add figures to your landscape paintings to add scale, interest and a story. This video shows how to get the gesture of the figure correct. Also how to paint the figure in a loose style. A nice way to sketch figures in oils or acrylics too. Add figures to your landscapes and bring them to life.

Thank you Malcolm this is really helpful.
Glad it was helpful!
I have been avoiding adding figures, but I think I’ll practice in a small sketchbook what you just shared with us and then take that leap to add to my paintings. Thank you again Malcolm!
Good plan, enjoy it.
Beautiful figures. Thank you ❤
Thank you too!
Maybe the best video I have seen on figure painting, and done under 5 minutes. Thank you kind and humble sir.

As always, you make it look so easy! and explain it very well.
Another wonderful video Malcolm, thank you! You really simplify everything and get right to the point. I stumbled upon this video as I am about to add figures into an oil painting that is 90% done and was worried about ruining it. I’m going to do a few practice sketches in oil in my sketchbook first trying out your tips before touching the painting. Thanks again!
Glad you enjoyed it!

Thank you. Happy to hear that.
Thanks big help to me
What a find I just found on UA-cam I’m so happy! I’ve been playing around with painting lately and so I’m a 100% novice. I’m so thankful for artists like you that offer free lessons. They are specific and to the point and actually I like that. I’m trying to get a feel for how much I want to get into it and so it isn’t practical to spend all that money just yet for online courses. I really appreciate what you offer thank you! I’ve already watched 2 videos and know I’ll be checking others out. I’ve already subscribed! Thanks again!
Wonderful. More coming this week 👍

TE AMO
your so talented and handsome!!
Thank you so much, now I will try. Must say up until now I did not have much success.
You can do it!
What a fantastic idea: the proportionate reference points! But how does one acomplish the same thing without a reference photo to begin with? I suppose I should just look through magazines until I find a figure in the position I need and proceed as in this video demo. Any other ideas? Thank you for the wonderful info. Caro.
The more you practice this way the easier it will be to draw reference points from life. Then you can focus more on gesture as your confidence grows.
Thank you, Malcolm. The other idea I have is to have people pose in a certain... well -- pose or movement, when needed for an idea for a painting. Does that make sense?
I've been practicing your style coz I wanna to loosen up my paintings... I thought it's easy 😁😁😁 itself not but I'm not eager to learn more 😀
I hope you keep painting 😄
(Ps. What were those gorgeous pinks you used in the two figures... gorgeous blue and purple colours also )
Just mixes of light blue, ultramarine and red light - with white of course. Using Amsterdam acrylics.
Malcolm Dewey oooooh thanks, I saw them on the art savings club website
Great video. Has anyone ever mentioned that you sound a bit like Alan Rickman?
LOL ... Not yet!
Is this acrylic?
It is oils
Less is more. Nice style
😬
