Great video here. I play a mw monk and just got ksm. I'm currently leveling a druid now to do the same but have no clue how to play it. But now that I've found you I can start watching ur videos to learn
Thanks for the comment! Resto druid is super rewarding, you're going to have a ton of fun :) Feel free to ask any questions in the comments or in the discord
There is nothing in this video that was unhelpful! I have played a resto drood for a long time but I have not mained a drood since Lich King. So much has changed since then and I feel so confident about pushing keys with my druid having seen this video. The only other thing I would have liked to have seen was the healer's talent choices. Thank you so much for giving the feedback that you did so I know which areas I should focus on to be effective and efficient.
I'm stoked to hear that you found the video helpful! It's great to hear from people that learn or feel more confident after checking out the content. Abundance and Germination are 2 musts for new players imo and I'd probably take Balance Affinity as well and the Tree cool down. Your talent choices are for more advanced players imo.
@@floodwaters8887 As someone who just started playing Resto Druid, and WoW as a whole, this expansion, Those are really only super useful in Raids. Germination isn't great, whereas Flourish is bonkers. If you want to take something easier to play in that row, definitely Photosynthesis (I started with that) Incarn just seems excessive. Balance + NF is definitely easier to manage though, and I also started there, and am trying to make the switch to Necrolord now
I'm stoked that you learned some stuff from the video! Rdruid is a ton of fun, and as a mistweaver you'll already be used to all those dangerous melee mechanics that new catweaving rdruids have to learn about the hard way :)
I stopped playing when tbc released and come back about a week ago, started from scratch and I'm doing +10s within a couple days of hitting 60, I can tell you they feel very good atm
2k resto druid here. Great video and great tips! My only recommendation is honestly to go night fae. It’s just better for pugs. Convoke with the legendary is too strong to not have it. It can help you catch up if you accidentally let hots drop or do some great damage offensively.
Thanks for the tip! I agree that NF is very strong in pugs, it's the most flexible for doing good damage and emergency healing when needed. It's also super fun to play. Necro feels awesome on single target fights and when you can trust your team to not take much avoidable damage. I'm actually super excited to try NF again with double legendaries in 9.2. I think convoke leggo + oath will be really fun :)
Doing weekly 15s as 2.5k, convoke is really busted for pug healing. It's basically the "nah no one's gonna die" button and those sweet flourish procs from the convoke legendary.
@@cocomojo-gg If you're not as comfortable with Catweaving, is it acceptable to do NF/Balance affinity for damage? I know damage won't be as high ultimately but my brain finds it easier to maintain a caster mindset during m+
@@xianritchie absolutely! NF + Boomie is a great combo, it won't be far behind cat weaving for DPS and arguably brings better utility with typhoon. Honestly, you can play literally anything you want unless you're doing the highest keys in the world. Play whatever you think is most fun and work on improving at that (: GLHF
for new Restodruids, i would always suggest moonkin-affinity and focus on healing, since, like you mentioned, you have to learn to trust the hots. I think its much easier, to learn this without catweaving. Once you beginn to get bored and will be able to do more dmg (even in PUGs, where everybody stands in shit) you can go for feral if u want to push DPS. A thint which i cannot do, since I am a really bad melee, when i have to also focus on healing and not standing in shit. Thats why i stay with Moonkinaffinity and NF, to get full use of hotw combined with convoke as an owl :-) Good video dough and Luci is doing a great job, u can see he is an expirienced healer and will be able to go much higher, if he gets used to the playstyle. I am not quite sure, if he has skilled soul of the forest, since i did not see the buff which boosts regrowth or wildgrowth, but perhaps i just missed that :-)
Yeah I agree, juggling melee mechanics and learning to heal is pretty difficult. Boomie affinity + convoke is solid damage and easy/safe to pull off. Learning to heal and catweave at the same time will really quickly teach you the dangerous melee mechanics, though (:
Yes! Especially for necrolord, the CD is so short that you can constantly get value. In general, my moto for any CD that can be used for damage is "press immediately unless the pull will end very soon", and for healing "press immediately when 3 or more people need healing". The more opportunities you find to press them, the more value you get over the whole dungeon!
Thanks! I think they're using ElvUI, and it looks like my profile. Here's where I go over how to set up a UI that looks like this: ua-cam.com/video/AMjhJOYpfXk/v-deo.html Maybe Luci can chime in as well to share some info!
hello! luci here. I mostly use the UI in the video that coco linked, just did some color changes since i’m colorblind. Both the group and my health frame (the one that i hide) are from ElvUI.
@@iuci2626 ok thx you both. I’m close to have a interface who suit me finally :) Just need to find how to put icône for whit instead of little square. Thx a lot ! And keep pushing

Good question! The bleeds are great for priority damage if the target will live long enough to get full value. At 5+ targets you lose overall damage by pressing anything other than swipe, but priority damage into high HP mobs is usually saves more time than aiming for highest overall damage possible. Here's a spreadsheet that shows the target breakpoints using the damage numbers from my tooltips: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Ic_1lORrdqxQCXYKeUKWc02YtgfiAiSWXFH6ID74h7A/edit?usp=sharing In practice, I will rake + rip + moonfire one high HP mob per pull, then spam swipe while keeping sunfire up on everything. If I get good swarm spreads at the start of the pull then I'll also spread moonfires to as many mobs as I can
@@cocomojo-gg great info. Based on this spreadsheet is it ever worth using bite? It does such low dmg it seems like it’s not even worth the global even when at max combo point
It is! These numbers assume max combo points AND max bleed duration; in single target, if you already have rip applied or your target is going to die before the full duration, then bite is the best way to spend combo points. Likewise, the rake columns include both the direct damage (around 800 unempowered) and the full bleed damage. If you have a rake applied, shred is your best combo point builder in single target
Oops! I'm saying "cen ward", aka cenarion ward. Sorry for the bad enunciation! This was recorded on my old mic, so hopefully newer videos are more clear :)
@@cocomojo-gg oh holy crap, I should of known that haha, thank you. After you mentioned the best HoT we have I started to panic not knowing what it was lol. Great video
I am thinking of starting a resto druid as me and a friend want to heal and tank dungeons. As I uave never healed before getting used to the set up of clique or other addons to aid me is overwhelming. Other than just clicking names to heal which really feels un natural for me. Being a dps monkey for so long I'm finding the change quite hard to take on. This video was very helpful. But I'd like to ask if there is any reccomended UI and WA setups or other addons that could make life easier?
Healing is super rewarding, I definitely recommend trying it out! I think playing all the roles makes you better at everything in the game, so even if you decide that healing isn't for you, you'll return to DPS with new perspective! I use mouseover macros for everything, but clique is an excellent addon that I think simplifies mouseover healing a bit. For other UI mods, I recommend getting your party frames set up to track all your hots (you can try my ElvUI profile [wago.io/Ivre4nw_E], or take a look at bigdebuffs if you want a single, simple addon that greatly improves the default bliz UI). I also recommend this weakaura or something similar for high priority resto druid spells: wago.io/OagyXEajW Keeping these up nearly 100% of the time will be a huge boost to your healing efficiency :D GL, I hope you have fun, and let me know if you have any questions!
This isn't me in the video (it's one of the people in the discord who was kind/brave enough to submit a video for review), but it looks like they're using either mouseover macros or the addon clique. Both will let you cast your spells on targets (or unitframes) that your mouse is over. Definitely recommend setting one of them up!
no one had to die at 9:40. NS is on a 1 min cd, no need to hold it on a boss fight. swiftmend-ns-regrowth will top anyone. could have done a swiftmend on self, ns+regrowth and then hot'd up and use flourish.
Yeah totally, there are a couple of these tools to bail the team out of rough situations! That combo is one that seasoned resto druids will instinctively do, but newer players may not even consider. I should have mentioned it in the video, thanks for pointing it out! :)
@Professor Thinker just from the perspective of the druid, he didnt need to let anyone die :P if he had used absolutely everything and they still died then fair enough, but that wasnt the case lol
@Professor Thinker look at it this way, he had NS ready to use, flourish and swiftmend ready to use, aoe heal was not down, and only rejuv on himself. no lifebloom on anyone either. 100% noone had to die here if he just pressed buttons instead of regrowth. he had so many buttons left to press but was spamming regrowth. the fact its a pug group doesnt really mean anything when we're examining the druid and how he can improve at the class.
@Professor Thinker incorrect, he was aware the rogue was dropping he was trying to regrowth him. I'm not criticising the player for letting the rogue die as much as I'm criticising coco for not pointing it out. The entire point of these reviews are to get your games examined so you can improve and hear what you were doing wrong and what you could have done better. The player in this case needs to get used to having rejuv up on more targets and making sure to use swiftmend on cooldown. Aswel as getting used to using the ns/regrowth as a panic button. So again, no one needs to die at the time stamp. Perspective of it being a pug doesn't matter. The player needs to use his cooldowns and keep rejuvs on targets. Ez pz. Thanks. :)
Said everything I need to say, the rogue didn't have to die, cooldowns could have been used, the player should work on keeping hots out and using his cooldowns. 2 buttons and this rogue lives in the instance I pointed out. I don’t think using cen ward and ironbark on cd is bad advice. (maybe if you prefaced it with that just being for now until you get used to casting it often) both spells should be used often, but not on cooldown.
Yeah that's great to call out! When starting out just sending everything on CD is what I advise, since one of the most common problems I see is people holding cooldowns for too long and not getting much value from them. But as you start sending CDs you'll start to identify opportunities when having those abilities would be more useful, and maybe some of the moments that line up with the CD aren't as impactful. Noticing these moments and adjusting your plan to get more value is one of the things that separates good players from great players IMO. Thanks for the comment and feedback! (:
Yeah that looked amazing. I came back to the game in the last month or so of BFA so I never got to really experience how good rdruid was, I was busy depleting 4s and learning what my buttons do lol. It still plays the same now as it did back then, but we don't do nearly as much damage as BFA rdruid unfortunately :( But it's okay, the spec is still a ton of fun and more than viable for nearly all key levels
