I lived in Mt Shasta from about 1988-1992. I would drive home after working in Yreka around 2 to 3 AM on nights like this. I was a might younger during those days.
I suppose Klamath River is going to be a big beneficiary of this storm. I own a property at Iron Gate Lake Estates. Well there's no long a lake there so maybe the salmon run will be in good shape next year.
WX like this is Normal considering where it is being 'filmed'. While it may seem EXTRA-ORDINARY and 'news-worthy' to some viewers it is NOT at all that unusual to those of us who live in mountains at these elevations. Stay Calm and Carry On was the propaganda from WWII; our current culture has morphed it into; Stay Calm and Chive On. SCCO! If you know, YOU KNOW!

I am a Batt Fire Chief out of Siskiyou County. I remember these storms all to well, lol.
Great shots! Some of them were of Weed, Ca: known for its windy conditions.
I dodged that bullet by a week, going over Carson Pass.
Big Thank You to CalTrans winter crews!
I dodge that bullet by a day. I was in yreka Sunday and drove a few hours to spend the night in Medford.
On the positive side, it sets up for a good snow pack this season.. get them reservoirs filled, get Tulare Lake back again...
True , 10 years from now the climate will be such that the west coast will receive most of their snowpack in just under 36 hours .

Was there 5 day's ago in sunny Arizona now!
Keep roofing shingles in your truck if you're stuck in snow
I keep a tub of crushed rock and a shovel in mine. Also chains. Before I am stuck, not "if." Roofing shingles are a good idea, though.
@GH-oi2jf the good part is that you can give them away if you find someone in need
I 5 isn't impassable very often but when it is.......watch out!!!!
